The accommodation overall was practical with all the mod cons on site. However the property itself we felt was slightly dated and could do with an update ie the bathroom needs updating, beige suite. The shower hook didn't work on the wall so couldn't shower handsfree. The sofabed was uncomfortable but the single beds were ok. The kitchen was ok and we had all the plates and saucepans we needed.
The biggest factor, where this property loses points was the noise of the water sprinklers/generator that came on EVERY day twice a day, once at 7.30am and again just before midnight. The taps were just outside the bedroom window and the noise was very very loud. I woke every morning to this sound. It was impossible to sleep through! And if you were up late by the time it went on again before midnight you'd struggle to get to sleep. Luckily the night time sprinkler lasted a lot shorter than the morning one!
The swimming pool was a 2 minute walk and very small which you share with another apartment block.
The neighbours above woke up very early each morning before 7am and unfortunately I woke up too, where we could hear them walking about and scraping their chairs. That with the sprinklers in the morning was a big no no!
The hair dryer blew up within seconds of using it on the first day or 2 but the agent looking after the property was very helpful and replaced it pretty much the next day.
The agent was great and responded very quickly to any problems we had and actually gave my friend a lift to the airport when she checked out. He was also quick to respond when i complained about the sprinklers.
Sadly I felt it was the owner that let the place down rather than the agent. Maybe the owner should think about giving the apartment an up do with some new furniture and bathroom suite. There doesn't appear to be any other reviews apart from one on this property so I'm not sure if its just recently been rented out?
Other than that the neighbourhood was really really nice and Alvor and the beaches are very pretty. I'd definitely come back just not sure to this property!
All good up until day of check in. David kindly agreed beforehand to check in earlier (1/2pm) than original time which is 5.30pm but due to a delay in flight and sorting out our car hire we arrived closer to 3pm. I had been in communication with David throughout this time. After a previous update, I let him know we'd be there later than planned and before I could even give him an exact time he became rude, sending angry faces on whatsapp saying he has a 'busy schedule' and other commitments despite him telling us 'theres no hurry' earlier in the day. To make matters worse, when we were close to the apartment (2.30ish) he messages refusing to check us in, saying he is reverting back to the 5.30pm check in with no prior notice given to us. What if we didnt have a car and were in an uber with all our luggage? We called to say this is unacceptable and stayed on the phone for 10 mins listening to him complain and refuse to check us in despite us being so near to the property.
Aside from this, the listing is accurate, place is pretty basic and had clearly not been lived in for a while as the tap to keep water pressure was off and we had to message to get it back up, the WiFi modem had not been put on at all and we couldn't use any of the drawers/wardbrobes to store our stuff as there was a weird, musty smell that came from them. No handbook was given so we did have to keep messaging about little things but our questions were answered quickly when needed.
In summary, the stay was okay but the place is not worth the price we paid, we've stayed in much better places in the Alvor area which had better amenities and were more spacious - for a cheaper price. We didn't appreciate the rude behaviour on the day of check in but luckily the Property Manager Sandra was really kind and helpful - its likely you will deal with her more anyway.
