Very well furnished accomodation with good facilities,
We enjoyed our stay at Butterfly Cottage, very good, modern facilities, brilliant log fire which we lit every day. Situated near to a river, Lovely rural setting but also short driving distance to Kendal
Mountains literally just next door, good walks nearby I.e. Selside Pike, will attempt next visit!,
A lovely stay.
Very easy to book kept updated by our hosts who were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was lovely, spotlessly clean and tidy. Set in a wonderful location and we would recommend a stay to anyone. Top Marks.
We had a fantastic week staying here for our honeymoon. Close enough to Kendal in case you need anything, but far enough out that you can loose yourself in the scenery.
Wonderful location in a beautiful part of the country. Daryl and his wife were excellent hosts and the cottage beautifully simple yet providing everything one needed for a stay away from home. Good bathroom and comfortable bed; plenty of useful utensils in the kitchen and good WiFi connection; sitting area comfortable with lovely views of the garden and surrounding hills
The cottage is located in a beautiful area of Kendal, just 25 min from Windermere and 40 from Keswick! Itâs super comfortable and cozy, it had all what we were looking for! We will be back
Tulip Cottage: A very cosy and comfortable holiday retreat.
We chose Tulip Cottage based largely upon the reviews already left by previous guests. We were not disappointed in any way! Darylâs email with directions and travel advice ensured we found the place easily. His very warm welcome and tour of the cottageâs facilities after we checked in were much-appreciated and stood us in good stead for our 11-night stay. The suggestions he offered us for places to visit throughout our stay were welcome and based upon his personal experience. When we had questions, he was on-hand to assist, although his presence around Low Jock Scar during the day was always very discrete and our privacy was respected at all times. Thank you, Daryl, for making us feel so at home!
The cottage itself was recently refurbished and is well-appointed for two people to stay in comfort. Itâs very attractive inside and out, set in a beautiful garden with a river running through the estate. Parking is ample and right outside, being set back some way from the very quiet main road. Once inside, we felt immediately comfortable and very much at home. The cottage has large windows and is very bright during the day, offering splendid views of the garden. The cottage has very effective central heating, and in addition, the log fire kept us toasty warm and gave the place a very cosy atmosphere during some chilly October evenings.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the furniture provided was very comfortable. There is also a large, flat-screen TV, although the Lake District kept us busy and we never switched it on! The kitchen is well-equipped, and everything we could possibly need was provided. The bathroom is very modern and features a powerful shower set in a large cubicle. The room was very warm, heated by a large radiator. The bedroom is very comfortable, cosy and features a large wardrobe with plenty of hanging space. There are even hot-water bottles provided, just in case. A shared laundry room is located within 20 paces of the cottage, containing a washing machine and tumble dryer. These are available for use at any time.
This was our first visit to Tulip Cottage, and we very much hope it will not be our last! Our holiday in the Lake District (our first visit to the area) could not have been better. We are very happy to thank Daryl and delighted to recommend Tulip Cottage as a secure, homely base for anyone visiting this beautiful area with its breath-taking scenery.
Property is close to Kendal and easily accessible. It is in a quiet location, comfortable with good facilities. Minor issue was quickly dealt with by Daryl, the property manager. We enjoyed drives to Hawes and Lake Windermere. Make sure you enjoy lunch at one of the pubs along the way.
Clean, comfy, warm (great log burner) extra touches such as hot water bottles were appreciated. Stunning surroundings- we had the best week exploring- liked it so much that we spent our evenings in, enjoying the fire! Hope we can come again!
We had a wonderful stay in Tulip cottage. Everything was as clean and comfortable as we could wish, and the stay went smoothly. Both Lily and Butterfly cottages were occupied while we were there, but we would hardly have known it. We were there for four nights. The only hiccup was the wifi, but it was fixed very quickly and worked well after that.
Great Location, Great Reception, Great Accommodation
My partner an I had a short weekend break (Friday - Monday) in Tulip Cottage and it was just perfect. The little log fire made the house nice and cosy when on and the central heating was great when not using the fire. The surroundings of the cottage were beautiful, you would be forgiven for thinking you were in a small paradise. The hosts were lovely, accommodating and so friendly, I would definitely come back.
Lovely cottage [ one of three ] in beautiful gardens with babbling brook.
Nicely furnished, and all mod-cons , while retaining an "old world charm".
Well located affording short journeys for all the Lake District has to offer.
Would like to visit again.
Beautiful site, immaculately clean cottage and friendly owners on hand to deal with any queries.
I'd definitely recommend this holiday let. The cottages are in the middle of a beautiful site with a stream running along the bottom of a well kept garden. We saw a woodpecker amongst many other types of birds visiting the bird table. The cottages are well kept with decent furniture and fittings. It's a real home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A lovely cottage to stay in cozy with lots of atmosphere and set in a beautiful garden within gorgeous surroundings. Our hosts were most welcoming and we hope to return one day
The cottage is very comfortable, clean, warm, with a well-equipped kitchen. The garden with a river and a waterfall around the cottage is beautiful, and even despite the main road being just at the top of the drive, you could hear birds sing! Roslyn was very welcoming and happy to answer any questions. Overall, a lovely place to stay! Thank you very much!
We were given a very warm welcome, including vases of daffodils because I had mentioned them when we booked Tulip cottage. That kind touch set the scene for our stay.
The cottages are set close to the hosts' home, but they walked the line between friendliness and being too 'present' very well. I cannot emphasis enough what super hosts Roslyn and John were.
The grounds in which the three cottages are set are lovely. The well established garden, even in March, had plenty of colour and there is a woodland area to explore. Be aware, as mentioned in the cottage details, that there is an easily accessible river, so young children would need supervision. For us, though, it added to the charm.
Tulip Cottage itself is designed for two people. The bed was very comfortable, rooms were decorated and maintained to a high standard and furnishings and equipment could not be faulted.
There is a detailed information file which we found useful and the visitors' book showed numerous examples of people who returned more than once. We also hope to be able to return soon. What a find!
Set in beautiful surrounding, these attractive cottages are perfect for a quiet break away!
We stayed in Tulip cottage which was absolutely perfect for the two of us. It was a perfect base for exploring the Lake District and just a short drive to Kendal with easy access to a local supermarket. We cooked several meals and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed.
We absolutely loved the log burner and made good use of it during our stay.
We definitely intend to come back again! This place could not have been more perfect! Highly recommend :-)
