Une maison de rêve, dans les montagnes! 15 minutes de Braga. Avec piscine, BBQ..

I have been living in Portugal since 1999. My husband is Portuguese and we have 3 teenage children - 17, 18 and 20.
I was born in N.Ireland and went to school there. Then I went to University in England and worked there for 15 years, before moving to Portugal.
I love living in Portugal because of the people, climate, food, wine, and the landscape and architecture here are beautiful.
I love walking and am happy to take guests out for a walk through the forest behind the house - if they'd like. I've also got a little flock of Cameroon sheep - if guests would like to come and see them up close, they're welcome to come with me when it's feeding time in the morning.
I keep an updated file of places for guests to visit, nice restaurants etc - just so they make the most of being here.
I love being a host - it's a privilege to meet people from all over the world, and to be able to share with them a little bit of my world.

We're in between Braga and Guimarães, so well located.
The view is amazing. The pool is salt-water, tiled blue and illuminated at night - giving a stunning effect.
There are many scenic walks around, right behind the house (leading to Sameiro and Bom Jesus, if you have the time).
Taipas is 5 minutes away and has everything - including 3 supermarkets and about 20 cafes.
We like to feel we're in the country but near the city.
We have 2 dogs and they love the walks all around here.

Guests arrive to a tasty snack and enough food to keep them going until they go shopping.
The Pool House was only built in 2017 and everything is modern. It was a labour of love! The bi-fold doors are perfect - closed when cold and totally open when it is hot. There's a wood burner on the veranda, so you can be sitting in front of the flame, nice and cosy, and admire the twinkling lights of the valley. And, the pool looks dramatic, illuminated at night. There's also a fire pit, so you can sit outside and warm your hands, enjoy a glass of port and melt marshmallows over the embers.
As the owners live nearby - they are at hand should you need advice or recommendations. You can accompany Virginia on her dog walks - along woodland paths. Or, you can go and visit the Cameroon sheep - they're very sociable!
There is a baker who comes to the house on a daily basis. He leaves a bag of fresh bread rolls dangling from the gate - so you'll never be short of a selection of bread (and the owners pay for it).
No need to pack your suitcase with herbs and spices, coffee, tea, sugar, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, washing powder, dishwasher tablets - it's all there at the house (and the hair dryer too).
There are excellent restaurants all around - for every budget, from very reasonable to the other extreme. Virginia provides guests with a list of her favourite restaurants and how to find them.
A neighbour has a taxi and is happy to drive guests to and from restaurants - to give the driver a rest.
Whether it's a healthy break you're after or a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings, this place won't disappoint! You'll be sure to enjoy Irish/Portuguese hospitality!!
