We have an extended family, Grammy, Popi, 4 adult children, +spouses, and 5 grand children ranging in age from ages 4 to 15. We needed to find a place on short notice because of an unfortunate last-minute cancellation for a previously scheduled house. The availability of this "Main St" property over Christmas week was an absolute god-send. It is literally a five minute walk to the base lodge of Hunter mountain. While it is located on "Main St" it is set back well enough on the lot to not have been an issue. We had plenty of room in the spacious kitchen and comfortable living room for 14 of us to enjoy time together. We had more than adequate bedroom space to house everyone in private quarters. We will be happy to return for future "extended" family vacations.
The house was perfect for the amt of people we had(16). We were able to arrive early and check out a little later. The owner and I communicated before our arrival and during our stay, answering any questions I may have had. If we should go back to that area, I would definitely look to stay at this house again.
For any one who is considering to rent this property think twice!! WELL WELL WHERE TO START!! LETS START FROM THE BEGINNING! First of all the house very close to the street which means LOT of traffic and no privacy. If you have small kids you cannot take an eyes or them for a second as cars right next to the them. As property does NOT have a fence around it. Second. The house is soooo old you wonât believe. The all doors squeaking, the house has a specific smell inside. Kitchen is outdated. Drawers impossible to open and to close it. The one of the drawers had a mice feces in it! I have a picture to prove it! Bathrooms are disgusting. Anyone would take a look at it would never consider to take a bath in it. The was no AC! All we had just a fans in every bedroom. Thank God it was rainy weekend. No WiFi information was included in rental agreement. So when we couldnât locate the password and I had an important conference meeting next day the owner had a nerves to tell me to use a near by bagel store! Next! CAMERA! If you rent this property you will be under surveillance! You will be recorded! No where in rental agreement been mentioned you will be recorded! But that is not all! Owner. She requires her quests to sign an rental agreement yet she forgets to explain to quests what they will be getting! And then she will charge you additionally one week after you leave because something is broken or someone apparently smoke in the house or something like that!! Stay away from this property for your own peace of mind.
Our group had a great ski weekend at this property. The house is in an amazing location (short drive to Hunter and walking distance to a few restaurants). The home owner was very responsive and gave clear directions prior to our arrival and departure. Would definitely recommend staying here!!
If you are looking for location and price, this is it. Itâs on the main road and is a straight shot to grocery, gas, and restaurants as well. The house is across the street from the mountain and had plenty of space for 3 families.
The owner was very prompt with text responses. She was also at the attached apt and was available for any questions or issues if they were to arise.
the house is in a great location right across from the skiing resort. We went in the summer with friends and family. The house is old but in good condition. There were 15 of us and there were more than enough beds for us. We used the kitchen and some of the pots weren't properly cleaned, so we had to wash them again but overall the place was clean. The living room was descent but one of the bigger sofa has so many pillows that there was hardly any space to sit.
Very charming house that is perfect for a large group for a ski trip. Located right across the street from the Hunter made our days very easy. The owner was very nice and quick to respond to any questions that we had. Would absolutely stay here again for our annual ski trip.
Lots of Space Very Close to Mountain â Bring Sheets and Towels
Pros: The location is excellent. It is directly across the street from Hunter Mountain entrance. The house is very large with a lot of rooms and has a nice big front yard. We had a baby shower with about 18 people and there was plenty of space inside and outside. The owner was very friendly, polite and communicative throughout our stay. We chatted on the phone and she was helpful.
Cons: The place could use a deep cleaning and a general once-over to make sure everything is in order and works well for guests. One of the bathroom tubs wouldn't drain so we only had one functioning shower. I don't think the house was properly cleaned before we arrived. There really are no sheets or towels in the house. To be fair, this is stated on the lease, but if you want sheets and towels you really do have to bring your own. We found this odd for a rental house as we don't generally like to pack king sized sheets and towels in our luggage.
House was great. Walking distance to the mountain plenty of room for at least 16 people
The home was great!! Was walking distance to the mountain and deli's. Home was spacious enough for 16 people and wasn't over crowded. Plenty of kitchen materials (pots, pans, utensils etc) would highly recommend. Landlord was always available and very easy to deal with. She was a pleasure
This home has been in our family for almost 65 years. It is owned by Donna and husband Tim, her sister Darlene and husband Jay. We live on Long Island and ski at hunter often. We really love off season up there!!!
We are in walking distance up to the mountain. 5 real minutes that's it. Its a large house that can easily fit 3 families or a large group of fun people ! There's so much to do in this area.
Its comfortable, has a large front covered porch that we like to hang out on and watch the travelers pass by , Across the street is the river which is fun to explore. Real 5 min. walk up to mountain! You see the Hunter slopes from the front porch. Ols school ski house with a great location!
