Charming Norfolk home - romantic getaway (plus the dogs)
Badgers Den was the perfect place to stay for our Easter break with our two dogs, The property was ideal for two, our cavalier king Charles spaniels loved exploring the garden, we can guarantee it is secure all the way around - Monty checked every day of our week there. The conservatory was a great addition to offer even more views of the garden - when we wanted to keep the dogs inside! Having the option to log into Netflix and AppleTV was welcomed in the evening, we started an AooleTV trial to have the opportunity to view new things away from our standard watch lists. The kitchen and bathroom were both well sized, the bed and sofas were comfortable. The only minor improvement would be if there were a three draw cabinet under the high window in the bedroom, to allow for more space to unpack, We were delighted with the property, we were touched by the welcome pack and found Heacham a wonderful base to explore. We found Norfolk to be very dog friendly and enjoyed exploring beaches, woodlands, and boat trips. Thank you we would absolutely stay again.
Excellent cottage, location great, but let down by poor bathroom. Sink redicliously small, electric shower very poor, bath small and very deep. This property would be 11 out of 10 if these problems were resolved.
Thank you for a great getaway. Badgers Den is a cosy ,comfortable , warm cottage, with lovely garden. It has all facilities you need, a comfortable bed and a thoughtful welcome package.
It was everything we needed for 4 nights. The cottage was lovely, it had plenty of books and board games to play if you wanted and a nice enclosed garden. They had everything you need in the kitchen and the bed was so comfy. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely try and stay there
So pleased when we arrived everything clean and tidy basic essential to use , garden lovely and enclosed as stated as have dogs so didnât hve the worry if they could get out
Ideallly situated for the beach and close to wells and holkham would definitely stay again thankyou
On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Badger's Den. We found it cosy, warm and clean. Although "compact", we thought the online photos made it look smaller than it actually was and despite the fact that dogs were allowed at the property, we found no evidence of them.
If we are being really picky, a cloth for wiping down the kitchen work surfaces would have been useful. Also, the information sent to us said the drive to the property was well lit but, although there were lights there, they didn't seem to be working.
Cottage perfect for two. Had everything needed, with good bathroom and comfy bed. Road quite busy and not great for walking dog from the house. Further to walk to shops than expected, but good local pubs and beaches nearby.
Badger's Den was a lovely cottage in a good location. It was very well equipped and comfortable. Garden was great and dogs loved it. We had a very enjoyable time.
A comfortable, clean cottage. Excellent location. As others have mentioned very small fridge/freezer. This could be a real off pointing point to some . For example for people with poor mobility, people who suffer with back problems, the elderly. No extras a welcome pack would be appreciated. The patio needs tidying up. A gate to completely secure the garden from the driveway.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage which was very well equipped. There was a pleasant enclosed garden. The only issue we encountered was the small inaccessible fridge in the otherwise well appointed kitchen. Feel it would have been better served with a full size larder fridge and perhaps a small countertop freezer. Also the access to the property was obtained via a really narrow gated entrance which was difficult to get in and out of onto a busy road.
Badgers den norfolk hideaway,as the name suggests it's a real hideaway cottage.Tucked away in it's own secure grounds, the dogs loved it.Pity the gardens were unloved, but I realise you can't keep on top of it when you have guests staying.Ongoing roadworks on the road running past the cottage did not spoil what was a very enjoyable stay.
A beautiful cottage set in a wonderful village...great for our dog as the garden was totally enclosed....the one downside for me was the silly fridge...you had to get on your hands and knees to get out what little you could get in....did not spoil the stay....we are thinking of going back next year and bringing our own fridge.....excellent stay...thanks...mick
Badgers Den was situated about 20 minutes walk from the beaches and about 10 minutes from the 2 local pubs.
The cottage was extremely comfortable and the decor and furnishings were of a high standard.
It was perfect for the 2 of us and our 2 small dogs.
The garden was very secure and gave peace of mind that we could let the dogs loose.
The only complaint I would have and it's a small one, just like the fridge, it could have been a bit bigger.
All in we had a great stay and would recomend Badgers Den, we will certainly return
The bungalow was very comfortable and made an excellent base for going out to explore each day. We had our two greyhounds with us and they had a great time exploring the gardens, and it was particularly nice having the parking within the enclosed area meaning we could go to and from the car without having to ensure we didn't accidentally let the dogs out in the process.
Even though it was warm when we visited the rooms stayed relatively cool and the little conservatory was a peaceful place to sit with a cold drink in the evening.
The fridge is quite small (we used it mainly as a drinks fridge) so don't stock up on food for your whole stay before you arrive! There is a new very large Lidl close by on the main road and a big Tesco in Hunstanton so it's easy to shop on a day to day basis.
If you are a light sleeper and don't want to rise with the dawn light, you may want to bring some earplugs as there are cockerels living nearby.
The wifi signal was strong with two options being given and we never had problems with the actual wifi connection, but the underlying internet could be a bit twitchy in the late afternoons particularly which affects things like Netflix connectivity but it was generally fine later in the evening. We consistently got 4G connections on our phones so that provided a good back up for times when the internet was down, if we needed to research the next day's activities.
One warning for dog owners - the property is fully enclosed as advertised, but in some places (between this property and the adjacent holiday let which is in effect on the same plot) the fence is only 4 foot high which was fine for us but if your dog needs a 6 foot fence to keep them in, this is not the place for you.
What a lovely cottage . everything we needed was provided .very comfortable clean and the garden was a lovely nature friendly place . We had a restful week . And the welcome hamper was such a lovely touch . .we had already recommended it to are freinds
Great cottage especially as a dog owner due to large secure garden and very private.. Lovely walks to the local beaches. Quiet little pubs serving good food and a local small store and takeaways. A short drive from Hunstanton which offers more shops and a great dog friendly beach just along the coast.
Lovely single level cottage. Dog friendly. On outskirts of village a reasonable walk to the beach. Well equipped cottage cosy & comfy, although broadband intermittent couldn't do much about the Easter weekend weather!!
