Beautiful home, loved the deck and screen porch with views of lake placid. Itâs a bit secluded but still close to town. If you prefer quiet nature vs hustle and bustle of the village this is a great spot.
We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Edelreiss. The location was great, it felt like we were off the beaten path. The house was the perfect size for 6 adults and 3 kids. There is a large basement with plenty of toys for little ones, and the upstairs was perfect for game nights or cocktails on the balcony. We appreciated the large table for family meals. Itâs really hard to say anything negative about the property. It would have been nice to have direct access to the lake via dock to go swimming. Also, the hot water ran out bathing 8 people after a day at the lake, but that is probably to be expected with a cabin in the woods. Thank you to our hosts for letting us use their vacation home!
We had a wonderful time in Lake Placid. This home allowed us to explore the Jackrabbit trails out the front door. Perfect for hiking, mountain biking, snow shoeing, or cross country skiing. The home was comfortable and spacious for out 2 families of 3. It was close to Whiteface for skiing, and town for anything you need. Beautiful wood burning fireplace with plenty of wood in on a cold, snowy winter day. SUV was a must to get to the house in the snow. Owners were very nice, available for questions and accommodated of our need to stay an extra day when we got snowed in (happily). We would highly recommend this special spot!
The location of this place was amazing! If youâre into snowshoeing or cross country skiing, it doesnât get better than this! The jack rabbit trail crosses in front of the house, where you can hook up with the peninsula trails. The house itself was fabulous. If you have young children (our son is 2.5) theyâll be entertained for hours with the games and toys. The wood burning fireplace was great for warming up. We canât wait to go back next year!
We came up for a Fall guys retreat of hiking and kayaking. The house is spacious, comfortable and is beautifully secluded. The short walk to the southern shore of Lake Placid has amazing views of the lake. Itâs a short ride to town and shopping but feels miles away from the crowds. Iâd recommend it for your next stay in the Adirondacks.
We stayed for a long weekend at the camp and it was great! The house was extremely clean upon arrival. There was plenty of space for four adults and three children age 3 and younger. There was a great open play area in the lower level and the house had a baby gate at the top of the stairs to that level. Itâs rare to get a house that is family friendly, so that is greatly appreciated.
We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and in the screen porch area at night. The access to the lake was easy via the public trail and was less than a 5 min walk.
Itâs a great house if you want a quiet getaway near town. The dirt road is narrow but fine if you have a small SUV. There are two grocery stores just down the road and it is a short drive easy drive to downtown.
The property's location is very unique - you're in the middle of the woods down a dirt road, yet minutes away from everything Lake Placid has to offer. Excellent communication with the property owners. Access to hiking trails and the lake (via the Jackrabbit trail). Lake views but no direct lake access from the property. Overall, we had an excellent time and would love to return again!
Our family of 5 plus another family of 4 stayed at John's house this past MLK weekend. We almost thought we were lost trying to find the house as we had to go through a long, snowy, winding road up to the house! But once we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by a large house with all the amenities we could ask for in a house! The beds were comfortable, there was more than enough space for all of us (including a "kids" room downstairs with a bunk bed and full size bed...this is also where the TV was for watching a little Sunday football), the kitchen had more than enough pots and pans for our daily family dinners, and we loved the roaring fires from the fireplace!
From the house we were able to ski at Whiteface within a 15 minute drive and also went ice-fishing.
We loved staying here and would highly recommend Camp Edelreiss!
We loved staying in Camp Edelreiss. The house is very nice, lots of space, clean, and comfortable with a wonderful screened in porch. The location is perfect, close to town, hiking, swimming and fishing. We spent a couple very hot days swimming and fishing by the dam which we could walk to in 2 min! There is no AC so the upstairs got quite warm in the 2 days of 98 degree heat, but the finished basement stayed nice and cool.
We had a wonderful stay and we're so glad we could be with our entire family for Thanksgiving. The home was beautiful and located in a gorgeous part of Lake Placid. The trails to damn and along the lake were fantastic. The home was everything we had hoped for.
Thanks for the memories.
This place was truly amazing. Lots of space, short walk through a nice hiking trail to get to a beautiful lake, and extremely generous and beautiful amenities. This place is VERY secluded. We're talking a trek down a narrow dirt road for about 1/2 mile. This provides a lot of privacy which was a nice touch. However, not ideal if you wanted quick access to town. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a private retreat in a beautiful home on a beautiful piece of property.
We had the opportunity to stay at Camp Edelreiss twice-once in the summer and once in the winter. We love the attention to detail throughout the house and the high end finishes. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. On most nights we enjoyed large home cooked family dinners around their lovely dining table. From the large deck, it was fun to cheer on family members in the horse shoe tournament. After the kids went to sleep, we enjoyed wine on the screened in porch tucked into cozy furniture and with lovely throws. On colder nights, it was great for the family to play games around the fireplace. Winter or summer, the setting is ideal and we love that the house is right on the Jack Rabbit Trail! On a few occasions, we hiked to Dack Shack for burgers and beer, hiked back and stopped for a swim at the dam on Lake Placid. Can't beat that!
