Exceptionally clean and very comfortable cottage in beautiful rural surroundings. Had everything we needed. Great base for exploring Harrogate/York and surrounding areas or relaxing in the cottage.Super friendly hosts who left a very generous welcome pack. Highly recommend
Yates Cottage is set in an idyllically beautiful location, is spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped, tastefully decorated and has comfortable beds. Our hosts, Andy and Sue were gracious, sociable and fun to engage with. The welcome basket of goodies was 5-star. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
We have literally just got back home after a weeks stay and already wishing we were still there. Beautiful remote location, a wonderful cottage with everything you need for a stay away from home and to top it all brilliant hosts. The welcome hamper is great! Andy and Sue were very welcoming and always willing to help or advise if needed but also left you to your own devices if thatâs what you wanted. Lots to do locally for all activities and Pateley Bridge, a few miles away, has great butchers, a bakers and local Spar for everyday essentials. All in all a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend. We will certainly book again whenever we visit Yorkshire next. Al and Francesca
The property far exceeded our expectations. The welcome hamper was amazing and the best we have ever had in 34 years of self catering holidays.
The hosts were very warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Overall an amazing excellent holiday. They even included good weather!
andnnothing was too much trouble.iverall
The cottage is just fabulous and Andy and Sue are great hosts, making sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. We had a great holiday and would definitely book the cottage again without hesitation.
Turning into the drive, we were met with daffodils, sheep and lambs - calm, relaxing. Then, entering the cottage we were met with fresh scones and a lovely welcome hamper. After a day out exploring we enjoyed sitting by the log burner with a glass of wine. There are easy walks from the door, convenient for quality shops in Harrogate with many historic sites nearby. Andy and Sue were excellent hosts, keen to ensure we had everything we needed. Will hopefully return on future visits from Canada.
Lovely property in a fantastic setting. Would love to stay again. It has everything needed for comfort, cooking and plenty of reading materials, and games.
What a great cottage, large and very comfortable. I can honestly say that this was a perfect place to stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and spacious. The owners Sue and Andy were very welcoming and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend. Tony and Sue Southend-on-Sea.
A superb cottage. Well equipped to a very high stadard and very clean. Welcome hamper with local produce was exceptional. Home made fruit tea loaf was very yummy. Surroundings so peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Hosts were so welcoming and friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend for a relaxing peaceful break
We couldn't fault anything.
Yates cottage, Gorgeous location. Very well equipped and spotless. Hosts Andy and Sue where amazing and very helpful.
The hamper on arrival very much appreciated along with the home made cake. A big thank you from us to you both for a brilliant holiday. Richard and Sue
A well equipped cottage in a beautiful location. Greeted with a welcome hamper full of Yorkshire treats and a tasty homemade cake. We didnât meet the owners as they were away but their son was at hand and we also received an email to check in on us which I was a nice touch. A peaceful place to holiday and thoughtfully kitted out, it was like home from home.
There was nothing we could have needed which wasnt thought of in this cottage.
A tremendous welcome pack along with a freshly baked cake meant that we didnt need to worry about shopping when we got there.
Perfectly located too!
We loved our week at the cottage, and no doubt would still have loved it had the weather - surprisingly and delightfully - not also been perfect.
Everything as described, Andy & Sue were welcoming hosts, and the location enables so many options. We brought our road bikes with us and found some hugely enjoyable rides. Andy & Sue gave us helpful advice and provided locked storage for our bikes.
We hope to be back!
The Cottage is in a beautiful location, the owners are very helpful, generous and friendly. There wasn't anything missing from the cottage including a delicious hamper on arrival. I could not recommend it enough. We had such an enjoyable time and it would not have been so, without the owners help. Will definately be making a return visit.
Spent Xmas snuggled up watching films and of course eating goodies, a lovely wood stove if needed, In the country even some snow was magical. Sue & Andy always on hand and helpful and a lovely hamper of goodies also bacon & eggs for Brecky , lovely
I can only echo what all the other 5 star reviews say! Having had to postpone our trip to Croatia, we decided to sample the delights of the Yorkshire Dales and we weren't disappointed. The cottage itself is beautiful and furnished to a high standard with everything you could possibly need, and it's spotlessly clean. The location is stunning and perfect to get away from it all.
We had great trips out to Brimham Rocks, Fewston and Swinsty Reservoirs, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, and Stockeld Park, plus a visit to Betty's and Valley Gardens in Harrogate. Can thoroughly recommend Mackenzie's Smokehouse (5 mins drive) for lunch and/or groceries. We had delicious pies from both butchers in Pateley Bridge.
But what makes Yates Cottage so special are the hosts, Andy and Sue and their lovely family. We felt so welcomed and nothing was too much for them. It really did feel like we were being hosted by friends. The icing on the cake was that our 9 year old son was invited to walk Andy and Sue's beautiful spaniels and I know this has created memories for him he will never forget! We can't wait to return. Thank you the Murtagh family!
Fantastic location in the Yorkshire countryside. Lovely single floor cottage with all the necessary amenities and utilities. Andy and Sue are fantastic hosts. The welcome pack was full of local produce. We would thoroughly recommend and will definitely visit again.
Lovely , peaceful ,relaxing, I could go on and on. A beautiful cottage in a peaceful setting.
Friendly owners, there to help if needed but respectful of your privacy.
Everything you need is there, fantastic welcome hamper.
Beautiful area to sit outside and watch all the wildlife.
All in all, one of the best cottages we have stayed in and we have been doing cottage holidays for nearly thirty years.
Andy, Sue & their 2 pet spaniels all live at Yates House in Nidderdale. Yates Cottage sits in the grounds of Yates House, a 100 acre estate, overlooking pasture, a small lake and the valley beyond. We take great pride in welcoming guests to both our cottage, but as importantly the surrounding area, which really holds something for everyone.
The cottage started life as a stable, being part of the original farm which dates back to the 1750's. Over the years, various owners have developed the stable into a single storey 2 bedroomed home. After we moved to Yates House in 2008, we decided to fully refurbish the cottage as a dedicated holiday let and the work was completed in 2011. It has flourished ever since.
As it is within the grounds of our home, we naturally think it is ideally located for those who want to enjoy a rural retreat, but to be only 20 or so minutes in different directions from Harrogate, Ilkley, Skipton, Pateley Bridge, Grassington, Ripon and the many, many attractions they offer makes it an ideal base.
