Homely cottage with lovely views.
The cottage was smaller than expected but nice enough. Great kitchen area with everything we needed. Really liked the dining area with the great views. Well stocked with toys for the kids too.
There is a lovely walk going up past the cottage. However, the road is quite steep and narrow driving up to it.
My 5 year old son (who is usually scared of dogs) absolutely fell in love with the owners Spaniel dog ..Scooby! Quite possibly the friendliest and sweetest dog ever!
Good location for the Cader Idris climb...we did it in about 3 hours..spectacular!
One negative point - quite irritating to have to pay 70p every time we crossed the nearby toll bridge both ways to get to Dolgellau! Barmouth (toll free!) and Fairbourne were well worth the visits. Llanfair Slate Caverns was really interesting (if you read all the info) and the scenery en route was lovely.
It is such a gorgeous area with so much potential for numerous walks and places to visit, I could quite easily have stayed another week at Hawddamor!
Lovely location and comfortable cottage
The cottage was well equipped, beautifully presented and comfortable. All in all we had a lovely week and would return.
Minor quibbles: Some of the bedroom furniture was a bit flimsy . The WiFi was too slow to accommodate meaningful use of the Smart TV (not really much point). Also, while it is hard to balance hospitality against intrusiveness, the owner did appear somewhat absent.
Thank you for your honest review. we note your point about the wardrobe in the second bedroom and that one of the shelves has recently become unstable. We will be replacing this asap. As regards Wifi, being a very rural area and despite being promised fibre optic broadband by BT since 2014. So far nothing has been done. That said the internet is still very good for the area as a whole. We were next door the whole week and available for anything that might have been a problem. In my experience though, self catering guests generally prefer to be left alone and not bothered by the owners of the cottage. We look forward to having you back in the future. All the best, Paul & Scooby.
Location Location Location
Stayed 6-13 July 2 adults, 3 children & our Labrador. Cosy cottage, well equipped kitchen with sugar, tea, coffee and really good recycling facilities. Good sized TV in the Living Room with Sky and great power shower in the lovely modern bathroom. Comfortable beds. Fab location for local walks up into the hills right from your doorstep and Barmouth beach only 6 miles. We found 2 beautiful lakes on our hikes and had wonderful afternoons swimming with not another person anywhere to be seen! 5 min drive to local town with great amenities and the local pub George III served good food & had a great Gin menu! The pub is about a 15 min walk down the hill and over the river. It was a good base for everything Snowdonia and Snowdon itself was about an hour & 20 min drive away. Paul was a great host with good communication and we would highly recommend this property.
Idyllic cottage in Snowdonia
Very neat cottage ideal for exploring the amazing South Snowdonia area. You wake up to the sound of rushing water from a nearby stream, and in the evening watch the shadows grow on Cadair Idris.
Lovely cottage in a lovely area
Classic Welsh stone built cottage. Well equipped and comfortable. Location needs to be seen to be believed. Lovely holiday . Thank you.
