Henborth Mawr is surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park in Talybont village, near Barmouth and ticks all the boxes for your family getaway.
A great period cottage enjoying sea views plus a fabulous mountain backdrop, it's ideal for walkers.
This west facing cottage has a lovely enclosed sunny terrace and garden. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Pet friendly.

ABOUT THE COTTAGE

This gorgeous 19c, farmhouse property with many original features, includes two wood burning fires, slate flagstone and real wood flooring plus a stunning kitchen. This west and sea facing cottage has a lovely enclosed sunny terrace and garden. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathroom (1 en-suite). Recently, tastefully refurbished with shabby chic and new furniture, this fabulous property sleeps 6 guest in style and comfort. WIFI, double glazing and gas fired central heating of course.

With our west facing holiday cottage, you could be soaking up the sun all day long then enjoying dining Al-Fresco on the lovely terrace while watching the sun set over Cardigan Bay, with the mountains as a backdrop. Miles of sweeping sandy beaches and stunning walks are just a short walk from the cottage, as well as a fantastic location being close very to Harlech and Barmouth.

Surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park, Henborth Mawr Cottage is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you want. For those with families, miles of sweeping sandy beaches await you. If you're into cycling or horse riding, there are numerous scenic places to ride. This is a walker paradise with The Mawddach and Dyffryn Trail very close and Cader Idris just a 30 minutes' drive away! If you're not the active type, then how about a ride on the Cambrian Coast Express all the way along this glorious coast line.

ACCOMMODATION

DOWNSTAIRS:

Entering from the level driveway and into the hallway with the kitchen/diner on one side and the main sitting room on the other. This is a useful area for storing boots and coats.

Kitchen area:

The kitchen area has a stunning, newly fitted ‘designer’ kitchen with numerous cream ‘Shaker Style’ fitted units, oak look worktops and red quarry tiled floor. A built in Bosch double oven, 5 ring gas hob, extractor hood over, Bosch integrated dishwasher, 1.5 bowl sink and drainer with mixer tap, integrated fridge and freezer, 4 slice toaster and microwave and finally an integrated washing machine. It is equipped with everything you would expect in a premium holiday home kitchen, inc all the crockery. Views of the front garden from the bay window and seat. High chair available.

Dining and Sitting area:

The spacious dining area has and a lovely big wooden dining table with 6 period chairs. The cozy sitting area enjoys a fabulous inglenook fireplace, with stone hearth, original bread oven and a big wood- burner. Cosy seating for 3, inc 1 X 2 seater settee and 1 X armchairs and a book case.

Conservatory:

Another tick box feature of this lovely cottage is a sunny conservatory, with tiled flooring, a three seater settee and an arm chairs plus books and games. The conservatory leads onto the terrace and enclosed gardens.

Main Sitting Room

Off the hallway there is a gorgeous and cozy sitting room with a bay window, but the focal point is a fabulous inglenook fireplace, with stone hearth and a wood- burner. The floor is a traditional slate finish. Sumptuous leather seating for 6, inc 1 X 3 seaters, 1 X 2 seater settee and 1 X stool. There is flat screen 24” SONY Freeview TV, a blue ray player, CD/DVD player, books and games and IPOD doc.

UPSTAIRS:

BEDROOM 1/ Master, ensuite bedroom, sleeps 2

Lovely white ‘painted’ wood furniture and designer bedding. A double size bed, twin wardrobe, dressing table with 5 drawers, 2 bed side tables, 4 drawer chest of drawers, windows with sea views. Carpeted flooring.

En-suite shower room: Brand new with WC and vanity unit/wash hand basin, mixer tap, walk in shower with glass screen, lovely designer tiling.

BEDROOM 2/ ‘L shaped’ Double bedroom: sleeps 2

Lovely white ‘painted’ and pine wood furniture plus designer bedding. This spacious bedroom has some lovely features including a part beamed ceiling. A king size brass bed, 2 X twin wardrobe, dressing table with 5 drawers, 2 bed side tables, 2 drawer chest of drawers, two windows with sea views. Carpeted flooring.

BEDROOM 3/ Twin bedroom: sleeps 2

With 2 ‘futon style’, single beds. Window with sea views. Carpeted flooring.

Travel cot and highchair available, if required. This is small room, more suitable for 2 children than adults.

FAMILY BATHROOM:

Brand new, gorgeous ‘Victorian style’ bathroom, with painted wood panels, WC and pedestal wash hand basin with mixer taps, mirror, shower bath with mixer taps, overhead shower, glass screen, lovely designer part tiled walls and cushion floor.

OUTSIDE

Henborth Mawr Cottage is set just of the main Barmouth to Harlech road, in the village of Talybont, within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.

Garden and patio: West facing with a side aspect, which benefits from the sun nearly all day, but all evening to enjoy the stunning sunsets. There is a new stone patio area wooden table, 4 chairs and BBQ. Side area with off road parking spaces for many cars.

This region of Wales is without doubt a 'hidden gem' with some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. This is a walker's paradise with Cader Idris just a 40 minutes drive away! Snowdon is only 60 minutes by car and the beautiful Coed Y Brenin Wood, with miles of mountain bike and walking tracks is just 30 minutes drive.

Don't worry if you are not the active type, the effortless Mawddach Trail, featured in Julia Bradbury's 'Great Railway Walks' program, is accessible to everyone and takes you on a journey along one of the UK's most spectacular estuaries, brimming with wildlife.

There are miles of beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches, as well as many local attractions, such as the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway, which steams from Tywyn up to the mystical Dolgoch Falls. Just a few miles past Dolgellau is the stunning Talyllyn Lake. Go towards Corris, to visit the world renowned 'Centre for Alternative Technology' (or CAT) which is a fascinating place to visit and learn. Close to CAT is The Corris Craft Centre and King Arthurs Labyrinth, another must-visit place.

Surf Snowdonia is an exciting new surfing and water sports park to be built in the village of Dolgarrog, in the beautiful Conwy Valley of North Wales. Set in the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park, Surf Snowdonia will be a showcase for the World’s first publicly accessible artificial surfing lagoon.

Bounce Below is the world’s first subterranean playground of its kind – and it’s here in Snowdonia by. The surreal experience of Bounce Below is set within a historic disused slate cavern, installed with massive bouncy nets to jump around in, unlike anything seen before!

Originally, Barmouth was a tiny hamlet built almost entirely on the rock over-looking the river mouth and frequented by pirates. The sea receded, access improved and a small fishing and ship building industry grew. In the 19th. Century the railway came and Barmouth and almost immediately it embraced tourism and expanded. Surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park, Barmouth is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you are looking for. Whatever you are into: fishing, surfing, kite boarding, sailing, mountain biking, bird watching, painting, landscape photography or horse riding, there are endless scenic places to explore. Barmouth has two public astro turf tennis courts, a basket ball pitch and skateboard ramp.

Situated on the edge of the Snowdonia national, Barmouth was awarded the Green Coastline award for its clean beach environment and water. There is a great selection of shops eateries and pubs. The mountains for roaming are very close, plus numerous lakes and rivers close by. If you prefer a guided walk the annual walking festival at Barmouth held in September is popular every year.

Barmouth has a sunny west-facing sandy beach. Don't miss the spectacular sunsets over the bay. From early Spring through till Autumn, dolphins and porpoise can be spotted close to the shore, an amazing sight to see! It’s not unusual to see them on a daily basis in pods of up to 20. There is level access to the town where there are supermarkets, shops, bistros.
You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth.

Remember to bring your bikes, the cycle routes are fantastic and Coed-y-Brenin has some very interesting daredevil paths to concur.

Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes.
Just a few miles North is the historic town of Harlech with its magnificent castle and golf course.

Don't miss a trip to Llanfair slate mines where "The Last Knight" was filmed, learn how hard the colliers of Yesteryear worked. Portmeirion village, just 30 mins drive is gorgeous, (the Italian style village where The Prisoner was filmed).
Barmouth certainly has a lot to offer, with an attractive and lively Harbour area; spectacular scenery especially The Mawddach one of the most beautiful estuaries in the world; birthplace of The National Trust and a walkers paradise. The Barmouth Bridge, built by Brunel. You must walk over it and enjoy the views. The bridge doubles as a footpath and cycle route giving spectacular views up the estuary towards Cader Idris.
