We had a lovely time in this homely cottage, my husband walked out every morning to check the waves as the cottage is almost a stones throw from the beach. Polzeath has a small store for groceries and is a great location for exploring the area. The garden gets some lovely sun and the house is in a very safe location for children away from the road.
We all had a fantastic week at this lovely bungalow. Just as we wanted a proper authentic Cornish bungalow.
Great base for 8 of us to go our own ways but equally comfortable if all 8 were having meals together.
Polzeath is stunning & we were in & out of Sea all week (rain or shine).
We arranged with Tracey to have our beds made up on arrival, which was a great help after a long journey. Tracey also made sure the bungalow was ready for us on behalf of the owner. I was lucky enough to meet Tracey such a lovely lady & made us feel very welcome.
Charlotte the owner communicated well with me by Telephone & even rang on last day to wish us a safe journey home.
Everyone had a great time lots of laughs, family time, & Polzeath has gained a little piece of all our hearts â€ïž
We had a wonderful week at Chy an Dour last week. Charlotte's cottage is a lovely, comfortable place to stay. Its located in a private lane so close to the beach but very quiet. If you want to have a relaxing week body boarding, eating lovely food in a comfortable home I would highly recommend Charlotte's property.
We have been staying at this property since I was a child and it never disappoints! Perfect location - less than a minute to the beach! Wonderful for children and has everything you need for a wholesome family holiday. We will be back! Thanks so much!
Fabulous location, great communication with the owner who responded quickly to any queries. The property was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for 6 people. Our only criticism is that it could do with a little modernisation but overall a fabulous 2 weeks.
Iâll start with the positives. This was in a beautiful area right near the beach and nestled in between millionaires houses, but could not have been any different.
The whole place was said to be renovated, but it was very tatty and with questionable DIY. No devices were pat tested. We had to use electric heaters (while also having to top up a pound a time energy meter - which of course didnât last two mins with electric heaters).
I had no choice but to email the landlord and say that it was 8C outside and asked if we were allowed to use the central heating.
In that same email I listed other issues. Namely the cleanliness of the place. This was replied to with an email asking if I could let her know what needed cleaning. Where do I start?
The bathrooms were filthy, shower gel streaks on the tiles, hairs stuck to the tiles and grout that one day, many years ago, was probably white.
There was dust everywhere, and one cupboard was full of pillows that looked liked they were straight from a Charles Dickens novel. I also found a dried up wood louse in a baking tray when I went to cook one night.
I mentioned all this and never heard back from the landlord (and even attached pics).
I also said that me and my partner only stayed three (out of 7) days because it was so grubby there. There was no mention of refunds, or even an attempt to get it cleaned while we were there.
To add insult in injury my parents who had originally booked the trip, paid around ÂŁ1000 for the week. They couldnât make it because of my motherâs ill health which the landlord was also told about. They are not wealthy people, so this huge outgoing was to help aid her convalescence, Iâm just glad that they didnât end up visiting.
I just want to add that Iâve stayed in rented accommodation for over 10 years, in anywhere from Edinburgh to Vietnam, and this is the only negative review Iâve ever written. I do not take pleasure in writing such a review but just want to warn people before booking - unfortunately I know that people are stuck finding somewhere to holiday at the moment, so know that they wonât have much choice than to stay here. I would attach pics, but there is no option. Good luck.
Warm and cosy with plenty of space for all. Loved the location, so handy for shops and beach, it was just perfect. Having a nice garden with garden chairs was a added bonus. It was a fantastic holiday and we certainly would return to the cottage again next time we go to Polzeath.
Comfortable and slightly quirky in a superb location.
We are regular visitors to Cornwall in general and Polzeath in particular. This is a great cottage for a family holiday and is in a very good location (5 mins walk to the main beach). The cottage has the feel of a home rather than a more typically sterile letting property and is different when compared to the surrounding properties which have mostly been updated or redeveloped.
The cottage is both comfortable and functional. The garden is a good sun trap for a large period of the afternoon and having off road parking is a definite bonus. Although the advert says it sleeps 8, and there are enough beds for that number, I think it would be a mild struggle in the kitchen and other communal areas with that many people; we had 4 and I think 6 would be fine.
Communication with the owner was very good and Charlotte responded quickly to any questions or minor issues. The linen service provided by Tracey was very efficient. Overall, a great place for a week in my favourite county.
Without doubt the location of this cottage is the standout feature. Together with the sunny secluded garden and ample parking we enjoyed the spacious home which had accommodation to spare (based on the size of our family). Covid-19 compliant cleaning was thorough. The decor is a little dated but plenty of hot water for showers and the functional kitchen is well equipped. We had no trouble with the meter. My children ages 16, 18 and 21 think itâs the best holiday let weâve had in Cornwall because everyone could relax, have their own space, be close to the action and canât Wait to return. As a mum this is probably the best recommendation I could have and meant that I could relax too.
Lovely, cosy property in a great location, just a short stroll to beach, shops, cafes, etc. Plus lovely walks on the coast path.
Six adults had a great time, including Christmas dinner. Highly recommended.
The cottage was perfect for 8 adults. We went with our three adult sons and their girlfriends. The location was brilliant for access to the beach and our dog loved the coastal walks.
The cottage is very comfortable with everything you need for your stay. The position is fantastic and enables the keen surfers to check the waves with ease and the walk to the beach with boards takes just 5 minutes. The garden is quiet, not overlooked and a real sun trap a definite bonus for such a central position. We had a lovely week.
Great location, Friday changeover is an advantage, comfortable house minor elements require updating
Our family (ages 22-86 years) had a splendid week in this bungalow. Positives are great location plenty of parking easy to find, 2-3 minute walk to the beach (water a little further!) a great beach with good surfing. Good walking along the coast paths. Plenty of equipment for self catering. The external shower was most useful for removing sand before removing wetsuits. Local Spa shop carried sufficient for day to day provisions but a trip to Wadebridge was required for a larger more economical shop. Negatives are slot meter for electricity - the younger members were amazed and puzzled by this installation. The mattresses on the bunk beds are probably past their best and the temperature/flow rate on both showers proved challenging in particular the smaller one. Would we visit again - yes as the positives outweigh the other issues
We had a lovely week in Chy An Dour with lots of visits to the beach and the local cafes and shops.
Really appreciated the child friendly garden with lots of space, which is closed off so our son didnât get out.
We were an extended family group of 7 adults. We booked this cottage because it was close to the sea and allowed us to bring our small dog, as well as being good value for a group our size.
We enjoyed the fact that the cottage is clearly still enjoyed by the owners and so the kitchen is well equipped and and there are books and dvds in the living spaces.
Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Polzeath during the Easter holidays. Accommodation was clean and tidy with all necessary amenities as described in the property description. 5 minute walk to the fantastic beach and shops/restaurants makes this an ideal base for a family surfing/bodyboarding/beach holiday. We will definitely be back..

Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Charlotte Farris
David and Charlotte purchased this bungalow in 1998, after renting it from the previous owners. We have modernised and updated the property to make it a comfortable and well-equipped holiday house.
All of our family love this house, and particularly appreciate it's close proximity to the beach and the village shops (both less than 2 minutes walk), it's sunny and sheltered garden, and its quiet and secluded position along a private road. There is a level lawn and ample parking for 3 to 4 cars.
We have many repeat visitors, some of whom have come for many years.
There is so much for all ages accessible by foot from the cottage, cliff top walks, relaxing days on the beach, watersports, restaurants and pubs. Its a truly relaxing and invigorating place to stay.
