A lovely little annexe in dreamy Virginia Water. Wonderful host who really went to a lot of trouble to ensure cleanliness and all modern comforts. Having two toilets was very useful too. The bed, linen and towels were all of very good quality and the place was very tastefully decorated. It was quiet and perfectly safe. Highly recommended.
The place was so clean and homely, it was the nicest little getaway with everything you needed in walking distance. It was really quiet and peaceful, with the nicest owner who made it easy and comfortable to plan our stay.
Place, space and pace are very appealing. We had high expectations for our stay at Chalk House. It exceeded them thanks to owners Laura and David Grayâs steadfast attention to so many details, large and small, all appreciated.
This apartment is clean, quiet, well equipped and in an ideal location. This was our second visit and I'm sure will not be our last. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
Super location and a wonderful cottage.
We have stayed in holidays Cottages all over the British Isles and Chalk House is one of the best.
Excellent location for visiting lots of gardens and Houses
Lots of room in the cottage with a colourful garden outside in which to relax
Super Cottage Super holiday
I really enjoyed my 3 day stay at this quiet garden apartment.Laura was very helpful with directions for arrival, friendly and approachable. I have a friend who lives nearby so I was able to catch up with her and we visited The Savill Garden, Virginia Water & Windsor. There are some great walks around and about and the break did me a power of good.
A beautiful clean and well equipped appartment, in a brilliant location to visit London and surrounding.
Especially for those who prefer a kind of quiet, green and posh neighborhood with all the infrastructure you need.
If you're interested in plants, gardening and lots of wonderful parks and forest including Saville gardens, Kew Gardens etc. around you this will be the place!
The owners are extremely helpful and nice and we felt like home! We can only recommend this place, Ingrid and Johannes from Vienna đ
I could write a brochure about Laura and David's place. It is fabulous! Spacious and quiet, with generous windows that open onto a private garden surrounded by towering hedges, it's a quick walk from the train station. Squeaky clean. Delightful and informative hosts.
I was a little nervous about staying outside of London and selected this property based on the reviews. I was a little confused about the area, so I'll take a minute to explain. First, the town is actually "Virginia Water" (that's not a typo) and takes its name from a nearby lake, aka Virginia Water. This lake is in the gigantic park around Windsor Castle, officially known as Windsor Great Park. You can get there on foot (as I did) by walking down the street--it takes less than 30 minutes.
Once in the park, there's the lake (Queen Victoria held parties there), miles & miles of trails, pavilions with refreshments, and fabulous gardens. My favorite was The Valley Gardens, 250 acres of woodlands, putting-green styled grass, massive blooming rhododendrons, and moss studded with woodland hyacinths (bluebells to the British).
Windsor Castle is at the north end of this park in the town of Windsor.
Back to Virginia Water... the houses around this VRBO are monumental, with beautiful gardens. The area felt safe & luxe. A famous golf course is cleverly hidden across the street.
I hope this info will put your mind at rest: do not hesitate to book!
The aptly named Garden appartment is immaculate, fully equipped and beautifully presented. The hosts,Laura and David, could not be more welcoming and helpful. It is in walking distance to the restaurants and shops in Virginia Water, and to the railway station allowing easy access into London. Recommended unreservably!
Private, quiet and extremely well maintained. A beautiful part of greater London - a hidden gem. Everything was wonderful. Laura and David were great hosts too.
Great location for Windsor and other attractions. Laura gave some very useful local info for other visits. The accomodation is very impressive. We will be returning as we had a great stay.
We had a fantastic week at this holiday apartment, just perfect for 2 people, it's one of the best we've stayed in. The owners had thought of everything and were very welcoming and informative about the local area and beyond. Close to all amenities shops, restaurants and the train station which you were able to get to London Euston in just 40 minutes. We would highly recommend staying here.
Perfect for arriving from overseas been close to Heathrow ( yet not too close, so no aircraft noise) and walking distance into local village including shops and restaurants, all exactly as described in listing.
Perfect in every way for a short stay in Virginia Water. Warm welcome from hosts David and Laura. Apartment spacious and comfortable with everything we needed and the beautiful garden was a bonus. Shops, restaurants and train station all within a short walking distance. Very easy to travel to Ascot and Windsor. Highly recommend and canât wait to go back to explore more of the area.
What a wonderful surprise this was, all I can say is we didnât want to leave! Canât rate it highly enough, this is the place we all hope to arrive at .
We returned to this accommodation for the 2nd time. Everything is sparkling clean and super well equipped. All the furnishings and kitchen equipment are high quality which makes for an extremely comfortable stay. The garden is beautifully kept by the very friendly hosts (and cat!). It's a 5 minute walk to the station which takes you straight into Waterloo. There are a small number of local shops and restaurants- we had a lovely curry takeaway. It's a lovely, peaceful area and we will no doubt be back again. Thank you!
Regrettably we only stayed 3 nights here. Longer would have been much better as there is so much to see in this area.
The apartment, or what we might call a "granny suite" was perfect. Clean! Decorated like something out of a magazine. Well stocked kitchen and a yard that "Homes and Gardens" could do a profile on. Sheeba, the cat was a bonus though she was not in the apartment.
David and Laura are great hosts who make sure that you are settled in but otherwise are unseen. Lovely chats with both of them.
A couple of blocks away is a string of shops and three restaurants that are worth a visit. there is a great coffee shop that is a licence to print money as it is always busy, and for good reason. Super coffee and pastries to tempt.
We tried the Italian and Chinese restaurants and loved them both.
WE would highly recommend this spot and would re-book without question. Thanks Laura and David!
Very centrally located in Virginia Water this compact annex provided the ideal accommodation for my wife and I to visit all the local sights. Laura and David were most helpful. 5 star!
I live with my husband in the main house the rest of the family now having moved on to pastures new. We are now both retired from running our own business and up until recent times enjoyed travelling, golf, watching sport, going to the theatre, socialising, gardening and life in general. Most of these are now on hold since the pandemic started but the garden is looking good.
My husband and I had lived in Virginia Water for many years starting our family. We loved the area and had good friends here. When my mother became unwell, we started to look for suitable accommodation we could all share. Fortunately Chalk House came on the market with a self contained flat, perfect, my mum would be next door but independent. Good News, Mum recovered and never needed to move. Then the Aupairs arrived to look after our daughter, and they occupied the flat. Our daughter is now grown up and has flown the nest so the flat was empty once more. What should we do with it? Mothball it? Then the idea come to us, to share the beautiful place we love so much with others. We have therefore fully refurbished the flat and fitted it out with all the needs of holiday makers. If you chose to come and stay, we hope you enjoy.
