The property was as promised as shown on the website. Everything was in order and there was a great supply of dishes, cooking utensils and the appliances that are needed. The view is incredible and you get sit for hours just looking out over the countryside.
We had the pleasure of enjoying this beautiful apartment for a week in July of 2018. First off, Alan was great! He has a neighbor on site who takes care of the visitors, and she was also wonderful. The place itself is everything and more than the photos show. We felt immediately at home, so much so that we cooked in most nights - including making homemade duck confit from the butcher! Fantastic and easy! The apartment is so very charming and definitely made us dream of owning something similar some day! For future visitors, the beds are both comfy, the linens are nice, there are stand-up fans for warm days and nights, the kitchen is very well equipped, and there are many English language videos to enjoy if you need a rest from your travels. It was just the two of us, so we had lots of space to spread out and enjoy, but it would be equally comfortable for two couples or a couple with children. The outdoor patio is the cherry on top - so peaceful and relaxing. Parking was not a problem at all, nor was shopping. There are a few butchers/bakeries in town, plus a pretty decently sized market on the edge of town, which is walk-able. We enjoyed a few simple pizza dinners as well as some amazing lunches in the town's little streets. All good! The town itself is a great attraction, just wander and get lost on the cute little lanes. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The weekly market was a good one, with lots of vendors and things to see and taste. It was easy drives to canoe and cave locations. This is just a little gem of a location. Thank you to Alan for sharing your space with us. We hope to be back someday to recreate the wonderful week we enjoyed. Until then, our memories are truly dreams come true!

The apartment was very comfortable, well equipped and located in a wonderful picturesque and friendly village. The only issue worth mentioning was that since this trip was our first trip to Provence and we found Barjac was not centrally located enough in order to easily visit the major sights. Everything was at least a 1 hr. drive. The exception to this were several of the wonderful vineyard estates in close proximity to town. The only other issue we had was that the vast majority of the restaurants in Barjac are closed Sunday through Tuesday. Of course our visit was just outside of their summer tourist season (3rd week of September) and perhaps we should have anticipated that. So eating out those nights was difficult. BUT, we certainly took advantage of that issue by purchasing our meals at the local butcher, cheese store and bakery to cook in the apartment. It worked out great. Thank you Allen, we thoroughly enjoyed your apartment and Barjac.
If you want a laid back town with lots to do nearby then this is a great choice.
The apartment is situated in a beautiful town and located in a fantastic place for restaurants and bars. The property itself has been really nicely finished and has a very nice feel to it. Owner was very welcoming and was happy to help out with ideas of what to see in the area.
We stayed at the Barjac apartment in late October and we found it be be perfectly appointed. When we arrived we were very impressed because it was even better than we had hoped- two large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and sizeable kitchen/dining area and upstairs/loft entertainment area. By far the best feature of the apartment is the wonderful terrace overlooking the countryside and mountains. There is a propane bbq and it was very convenient for cooking evening meals. You will find every convenience in the apartment and despite the time of year, many restaurants were open. We took the bus from Avignon- it was only 2 Euros- on Le Sept. The bus was a very reliable and inexpensive way to travel to and from Barjac. We took the same bus north to see some of the other close-by villages, but only for a couple of hours because of the schedule. On another route, Edgard, you can take the bus to Ales and then hop on a train to Nimes. We loved the village of Barjac and we loved our stay in this wonderful property! Thank you Alan.
We had a wonderful stay here, the apartment is superb; lovely decor and everything you could need. Diane was very friendly and helpful. We spent most of the time on the terrace which is covered and has lovely views, and sunsets. The gas BBQ was great too!
Barjac itself is a very pretty town with a good choice of restaurants / bars and interesting shops and The Friday market was amazing! We visited Pont du Gard on the way from Nimes airport, and we did a trip to Pont D'arc another day. We found a pretty swimming spot neat Rochegurd and spent a day there with a picnic. There is a little shop in Barjac for provisions, as well as a bakery, and the mini Carrefour on the edge of the town was useful for the bulk of food and drink.
All in all, a great stay, much recommended!
I bought the house in 2005 from our great friends Richard and Andrew who live next door. It took around 5 years to finally get the place sorted and has been a labour of love for may years.
I work in London but escape to Barjac whenever I can.
My mum, Brenda, often spends time over the summer in the downstairs apartment so she'll probably be on hand to give you the keys and offer any advise you need on local places to visit.
Barjac is a great base for visiting the area. It's a centre for organic farming and benefits from amazing rivers like the Chassezac and the Ceze which you can to swim or canoe in, all within half an hour.
I has two huge antique markets every year which fill the town and during the summer you can almost be certain of something going on most weeks, whether it be a bull-run, a music festival, a lavender fair or just the amazing Friday market.
