This tasteful and well appointed chalet with great facilities is very close to the seafront, which you reach through a nice back garden. Swimming here was great as the shelf is quite steep so you get a good amount of time either side of high tide. The place itself is a pleasure to stay in and we can't wait to come again.
Amazing place, superbly clean with everything we needed. Outstanding view, we will definitely be booking again. Host was really friendly and info we required was supplied.
What a fabulous beachfront cottage! We were there for a week and enjoyed every minute. To watch the sun rise at one end of the horizon and set at the other with an uninterrupted view is truly superb. The cottage is well equipped and in an excellent location. Whitstable is only a 5 minutes drive. If you want to eat at the nearby Sportsmans restaurant, book well in advance though as it is Michelin starred and very popular with the DFL!
Stayed a week in this lovely property. We were transfixed by the sea view and enjoyed walking along the beach at the end of the garden. The owner could not have been more helpful before our visit.
Lovely beach hut. Much more spacious than it looks in the photos. Very well equipped, extremely comfortable bed. And best of all the view is fantastic. We could sit there for hours just watching the water and the boats. Very relaxing.
The beach retreat is wonderful. It was very clean and cosy, everything you could want was there. The view is outstanding whether you are outside watching/listening to the sea or watching the sunset or snugged up indoors with a cuppa. It was so relaxing - thank you Malinda for sharing your little gem, I hope to return soon x
Lovely house right on seashore. Photos do not do it justice. Well equipped and very clean. The double doors and sofa are perfectly placed for watching the sea and sky on chillier evenings. Lovely relaxing week, with the tide kind enough for a morning swim.
Cosy chalet within a good walking distance to Whitstable. We walked there and back for lunch, a wander and a nose at the beachfront properties. Very relaxed atmosphere all round.
The beach isn't perfect due to its geographical situation. Brilliant access and views to the beach from the decking and from inside. Outside space off the decking is "natural".
Perfect - quiet - comfy - clean - amazing sunsets and plenty to do in Whitstable which is walkable for walkers along the beach- took 45 mins.
We shared with our 10 year old granddaughter- she loved her little room and the beach.
Warning you will gain weight in Whitstable - amazing food everywhere.
Nit picks, I know but....
Dust pan and brush would be useful.
Downlighter in bathroom is not functioning properly.
Pillows are very stained.
Lovely property and ideally situated.
Would definitely return in better weather. No negatives except my partner is 6ft 2" and the bed is simply too short - and too narrow just a small double and he fell out of the bed on the first night and then had to lie at a diagonal so we did not sleep well. The foot board is an issue for tall people. A larger bed would transform the experience.
Body wash and other toiletries would have been useful too as I wrongly assumed they would be there... luckily my partner brought some. Coffee as well as the tea provided would also be a nice touch as we don't drink tea. Not a deal breaker just a suggestion. Overall it was perfect for our needs.
Bring your own bluetooth speaker if you want to listen to music. Thank you for a lovely stay x
What a diamond in the sand! As soon as we arrived, we couldn't believe our luck in finding this place! Even better than the pictures! Melinda was so lovely, friendly and helpful throughout the booking process and our stay, she kindly accommodated myself, my daughter and my 10 year old grandson, happy for us to bring our own airbed and bedding for him. The beach retreat was spotlessly clean and so warm and welcoming (even in the cold weather of a February half term). It was extremely well equipped, we found everything we could possibly need, even an oyster knife and especially binoculars! My grandson had them out every morning, watching the local shell fish collections and admiring the distant ship wreck! We didn't have a lot of spare cash and we didn't need it! Good old fashioned outdoor fun filled our days! We collected shells/stones and driftwood for the fire pit, ate bbq's as the sun set and revelled at the amazing ever changing views over breakfast! We flew kites on the beach and went crabbing off the pier at Whitstable harbour (we broke the current record by catching 11 crabs in one day which delighted my grandson!). The harbour is well worth a visit, it's pretty and quaint with not a slot machine in sight! The fresh shellfish are gorgeous especially the huge native oysters served with a smile and plenty of info at The Forge. They even cleaned out the shells so my grandson could take them home! When we were cold and tired we retreated to our cosy home from home and played board games with a view and hot chocolate, surrounded by pretty mood lighting! All in all, a wonderful restful/peaceful/private and stress free break was had by all three generations (my grandson didn't even bother to charge his phone or tablet!). We all desperately want to return and i am someone who has never returned to the same place twice, preferring to try new places, but this will be my exception! There is so much more to see and do in the area. Thank you again Melinda!
We had a wonderful stay in Beach Retreat - the perfect escape from London life and truly memorable experience. The house was cosy and the view amazing. We loved sitting out on the decking and even had a swim in the sea at the end of the garden! Thank you Melinda for being very accommodating with our children and allowing us to check in early.
I love to escape the bustle of everyday life and spend time by the sea. I live just a few miles from Beach Retreat so I'm always on hand to offer my guests any assistance they need or provide local information! For direct bookings please email me, beachretreat@btinternet.com.
Beach Retreat is my dream house by the sea which I bought a few years ago. It's my pleasure to make it available to my guests, many of them regulars, who love this spot as much as I do. All rental income has been put into improving the property, most recently with a beautiful new kitchen area.
Beach Retreat is remote and peaceful, yet not isolated. Convenient shops in the village of Seasalter are within walking distance; Whitstable with its working harbour, boutique shops and restaurants is 5 minutes drive, or a pleasant 45 minute walk around the bay. Birdwatchers need hardly leave the house, just wait for the seabirds to arrive at low tide! But Swale Nature Reserve is just down the beach, and Oare Marshes Reserve, with trails and hides for birdwatchers, is a few miles away near Faversham. For a unique local gourmet experience, try The Sportsman down the road - but you will need to book in advance!
