The house and pool are beautiful and set in an amazing location. The house was very well equipped including everything for the pool and games. The views and fields surrounding the house are beautiful and itâs very peaceful. It was easy to get to the nearby village for essentials and to explore the hilltop towns and villages of the Tarn. Really enjoyed our stay.
The property was beautiful and set in a lovely and quiet region. You do need a car, as breakfast bread and pastries are available from a wonderful boulangerie in a village about 5-8 mins drive away. The bedrooms were very good and the kitchen extremely well set up. The pool was gorgeous and eating outside in an open barn was excellent. My only negative is that there were not enough electricity sockets in the main bedroom and I felt the wiring could be a little more secure here. Otherwise, a v relaxing stay in a wonderful place.
We were a family group, with a 7 year old, a 14 year old, my husband and I, and had a friend come out to stay with us, and subsequently my father in law. We all had a great time.
The house was very well laid out, and appointed. Everything was there that you could need, including beach towels and a lovely touch having soap and shower gels available in the bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable and the linen good quality. The house was very clean on arrival. It was in a beautiful setting. The swimming pool area was very well served with plenty of sun loungers and a parasol should you need shade. The pool was a good size, and kept extremely clean. There was also a great outdoor dining area, where we ate all our lunches and dinners. The photographs are a very true representation of the house and pool area. What you don't get from the photos is the beautiful area it is set in. There is a field below, that belongs to the house, and further there are wooded areas and other fields. It is extremely pretty. We got some great sunflower field photos. The area is extremely tranquil and superb for star gazing at night.
There is also a lot to do in the surrounding area. We went kayaking and tree climbing.
The property manager was very approachable knowledgeable of the area, and was always available to contact should we have had any queries.
We had a really lovely holiday at La Bayonette.
We had a lovely stay at Clive and Charlotte's beautiful house and it was just as we had hoped it was. Lovely house, clean and airy cool rooms, a great pool and beautiful pool.
Many thanks
Very lovely rural home, well equipped and very comfortable with a good sized saltwater swimming pool. Lots of villages around and nice restaurants but you would definitely need a car as they were all a few kilometres from the house but not too far. Night skies were amazing, lots of shooting stars and we enjoyed seeing all the birds of prey, deer and wildlife. There is horse riding nearby, canoeing and walking and bike hire so if you like the great outdoors and being away from it all, it was a perfect spot.
La Baionette is exactly as described with everything one would need for a relaxing stay. Modern take on rustic farm house, excellent bed linen. Plenty of room for all the family inside and out. The pool and gardens are wonderful. You are surrounded by lavender and fields of sunflowers and vines when siting by the pool. The owner was communicative and so helpful leading up to the rental. We would certainly recommend this property and the surrounding area. There is an amazing triangular region between Gaillac, Albi and Lajac brimming with beautiful, fairytale villages, Corde sur Ciel is a must. We walked into the local village, Vieux and played boules with the locals on the Friday evening. Food festivals, markets brocantes, music and fireworks found everyday.
Charming, comfortable, cook's kitchen, fabulous pool. Best of the old updated with style
Farmhouse was a perfect place to explore this beautiful, historic area. we were lucky enough to be there in sunflower time! Loads to do - music, markets, wine tastings easy access to shops with great deli. In world heritage city Albi we enjoyed the Toulouse Lautrec museum and visiting the magnificent 11th century cathedral. Spent most time relaxing at the pool terrace with lovely views, cooking up meals from fresh local ingredients. Garden full of fairy lights at night. magic!
This was our second visit to La Baionnette after a 3 year gap. It really is the perfect place to get away from it all, but without sacrificing vital mod cons such as wifi to keep teenagers happy. The house is really well equipped and comfortable. The pool looks out over acres of fields, and there are butterflies and bees aplenty in the lavender. Charlotte is a great hostess - unobtrusive yet available to give advice and help when needed. It is remote - the nearest bakery is around 3km away - but that's its charm. Thoroughly recommended - there is lots to see and do in the area as well.
We have recenty returned from a second visit to La Baionette having fallen in love last year with this wonderful property and its location in a largely undiscovered part of France.
The house itself has all you will ever want from a holiday home in France - full of character and perfectly equipped including the all essential wi-fi for posting pictures of yourself sunning yourself by the "to die for" pool. That will make your friends and colleagues at home wish they had booked the place too!
Everything in this house is of high quality: Bedrooms are very comfortable - with proper mattresses (not the cheap French versions); the kitchen is excellent complete with range cooker, and outside you have the perfect shaded seating area for al fresco dining. During our two stays the weather has been kind enough that we were able to eat outside most days (for breakfast, lunch and dinner). A perfect enviornment for watching the sun set, and observing the wildlife - including swallows cleaning the pool for us of floating insects, deer in the fields, buzzards circling, the hoot of owls at night and the constant buzz of the crickets and grasshoppers.
For our stay this year we embraced the local atmosphere by "doing" even less - having taken up a few of Charotte's excellent restaurant recommendations in the house guide. In the surrounding area you will find the most beautiful unspoiled countryside, with hilltop villages with good restaurants and gorges for kayaking. The whole area is interspersed with vinyards and fields of sunflowers. Magic. And a big bonus is that the area is relatively quite in terms of tourist numbers...sort of like the Dordogne but without the crowds.
The owner Charlotte is charming and will go out of her way to help you have a great holiday whilst staying unobstrusively in the background. The gite itself is very private, but you have the added insurance of having the owner on site when you just can't work out how to turn on the gas oven, or when you need to know where the nearest decent restaurant is...
All in all, we love this place. Highly recommended. I am sure we will be back...
First time to this relaxed region of France. Full of pretty, peaceful and picture perfect villages, wonderful wine and a great place to chill (both wine and soul) house was a great retreat with everything to make it feel like home for a fortnight . Favourite past time sitting outside early evening with a glass of rose, dining by 'fairy light' the sun went down.
