Beautiful little cottage in an excellent location. We had a slight problem with the heating but this was immediately resolved. I would definitely recommend. And we'll be returning đ
Cottage was amazing, spotlessly clean, so close to the beach so not far to carry your bits and pieces, ideal for eateries and pubs, would definitely stay here again.
Compact cottage in the perfect location in Looe. Well-appointed kitchen, everything you need and more, bijou sitting room on the 2nd floor, with a toilet and shower room off it. Great shower pressure. Bedroom on top floor has ample storage and large bed. Good communication from our host and the caretaker on arrival. Yards from the beach and 30 seconds from the centre of Looe. Perfect week for a couple.
My husband and i stayed here for a three night break in november. The cottage is lovely and clean and in a perfect location. Communication with the owner was excellent and we would recommend it to anyone.
Once the initial surprise of the stairs wore off it was great. Very clean, very comfortable stay. Bathroom a little small but as only me staying wasn't an issue. Ideal location for beech and town.
Lovely location close to beach and amenities, the property could do with some maintenance TLC. The shower leaked because sealant needs replacing in the shower tray causing water to come through the ceiling into the kitchen, the outside pipe work leaks and the front door does not feel secure
Perfect position, 2mins from beach. Huge comfortable bed. Great free parking over the bridge. Bathroom very small and difficult to manoeuvre, needs a lock too, as the door swings open everytime you try to move. Stairs are difficult to manage if you have any physical restrictions.
Cottage is well described in online brochure. Stairs are steep - need care at our age!
No frozen food compartment in the fridge? But an ice maker provided? Curious.
Overall we had a great time in Looe - thank you.
We really enjoyed the cottage it was in a great place and had everything we needed except wifi.
The stairs were steep as expected and we soon got used to them. The kitchen was well equipped, took is a while to find the switch for the extractor. The toilet and shower were compact and the cistern noisy which did not bother us but might annoy next door! The bed was comfy and I was pleased to see a mirror with a light ! The bedroom was well equipped. The hearing was on Which we did not need.Ovetall a lovely cosy cottage close to everything
Seconds from everywhere in Looe, the harbour, beach, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shops. A quaint, cottage with everything you need, even an ice making machine! The best car parking, after you,ve dropped off your luggage, is across the bridge and cost us ÂŁ14 for 5 days. Only a ten minute walk to the cottage. Out of the door, left for beach, right for town. Highly recommend Ancient Mariner and Old sail loft restaurants and the Black swan for Gin/drinks. Pollpero is only a 10 minute drive and has some lovely restaurants, bars and Views. Three pilchards is a must. Fowey is also a short journey away with views of the river, loads of bars and restaurants. I would highly recommend Sam's. The cottage is comfortable although the stairs can be a challenge( kitchen, stairs, lounge, stairs, bedroom. We very quickly got used to it. We would highly recommend this property to couples looking for a romantic getaway. If staying for some time bring extra towels. We will definitely be back.
The cottage was very close to the beach and convenient to walk out and go for a swim first thing before the beach filled up with holiday makers. As described the cottage is cosy and over 3 floors and you need to be okay with climbing up and down the narrow, steep stairs with a turn in them. The kitchen is well equipped, there is even an ice maker, but there is no freezer of freezer space in the fridge which was tricky as we had brought some supplies for the freezer . The bathroom has a decent shower and a heated towel rail. I agree with some of the reviews that the sink is quite large for the room and gets in the way when you get in and out of the shower. The bedroom has a comfy bed and a wardrobe and dressing table with a hair dryer supplied. There is a small thing to be aware of - the wooden key box juts out and we both knocked our heads on it at different times when straightening up from loading the dish washer - it would be a good idea to move the box to the left or move it higher up - which would stop this from happening. Overall we had a good week and this cottage was a good base for us.
The location of the property is excellent just seconds from the beech, shops, resaurants, pubs everything at hand. The parking permit is a bonus although you have to walk for it but its not that far if you are in good health otherwise it is a walk. The cottage was very quaint, the stairs are very steep so if you have difficulty with stairs it's not for you. The bathroom is very small, found it very hard to dry myself and dress in there and had to dress in the living area. The sink is very big for the bathroom and it takes up alot of space. The cottage was clean but the bed linen could do with a boil wash as they had a musty smell to them like when you walk into a charity shop. The bottle of cleaner in the bathroom what was meant to have bathroom cleaner in it, it was supposed to be pink stuff on the bottle but it had bleach in it not what it said. The cottage had everything you need in it for a lovely holiday just needs a couple of bits tweeking for me like I explained, the ice maker was brilliant make sure you use it. I am going to invest in one found it very useful. I also noticed that none of the electric appliances hadn't been pad tested and the hair drier needs replacing as it is overheating and is glowing red when you use it.
The house was in a brilliant location - very quiet little alleyway literally one minute from the beach, the shops and the quayside. It made the holiday really easy as it was so convenient.
The house was very nice, well decorated and furnished. Please note that the stairs are extremely narrow and steep and even being fit and agile, it was a little bit scary particularly when carrying luggage upstairs.
Some of the details online were different to some of the communication. There is a free allocated parking space at Millpond Car Park (10-15 minutes walk from the property) on some information it said you have to pay - you donât. There is full free WiFi despite it saying there wasnât any on several communications so that was a bonus.
The kitchen had the basics but as we love cooking there were a few things weâd like to have had (baking trays and oven dishes for example). But there was a kettle, toaster, lots of good knives, a cafetiĂšre and lots of crockery.
There wasnât a lot of room in the bathroom as the sink was huge for such a tiny space, there was no lock on the door which was a bit annoying. You kept on knocking the door open when you are at the sink. Also, no plug! The towels supplied were good though a couple of bath sheets wouldnât have gone amiss.
Everything was very well presented, decorated and very clean. On leaving we were unable to put our rubbish in the bin as it had a combination lock and there was no number provided.
We would have loved a seat outside in the lane instead of the plants!
Communication was pretty good though a bit slow and all the instructions were very clear. The online details need updating.
We had a very nice stay and enjoyed being there. All in all it was a very lovely stay indeed.
Absolutely amazing time.perfect location, great communication between us and the owners. Even though itâs a tiny cottage it was perfect Size, and very cute and quirky which we wanted over modern.
The only let down and disappointment was the fact the cottage was very uncleanâŠ
The bathroom was very dirty, hairs on shower rack, toilet and sink dusty and unclean.. floors gritty ,went to hoover and found vacuum blocked..
Looking back over reviews this has been a regular complaint..
If we could guarantee it was up to a cleaner standard, we would highly recommend and use you again..
As we had a great time with the added bonus of getting engaged..
Kind regards
I wanted to love this property but it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for quite some time - thick accumulated dust in corners of stairs, skirting boards, ledges, shelves and mouldy bread in bread bin, dust covered bread maker, I could go on - would have been a good candidate for 'Four in a bed' programme. Very tricky stairs which had no working lights so dangerous and you need to be 'smallish' to execute them and the bathroom - almost impossible to wash and dry oneself without having the door to the sitting room open.
To be fair the House Manager and Peter did their best by replacing one light and getting a cleaner in to go over some of it again but what it really needs is a thorough deep clean and some repairs - hole in kitchen ceiling held together by parcel tape!!
Rather disappointing for my first holiday in 3 years.
Three floors, three rooms, as expected. We got used to the staircase but you need to be fit.
Lots of effort has been put into furnishing this tiny cottage but it would be easily improved by taking away two superfluous chairs from the kitchen to allow you to get your knees under the table. So many sharp knives on the kitchen wall make it look like an abattoir. Biggest drawback is the large round basin in the shower room which takes up too much room and doesn't have a plug so you can't have a wash in it, only clean your teeth. Nice bedroom, and overall a cute cottage for two in a really convenient place for beach and shops.
Bird's Nest is a locally managed traditional fisherman's cottage which has undergone a total refurbishment to bring it to the very high standard that it is in today. Its very cosy and luxuriously furnished, with a great deal of thought going into every detail to make it home from home. Everything is colour co-ordinated and of the highest quality. Once at Bird's Nest you will not want for anything. Its a truly romantic getaway and we are sure you will have the perfect holiday.
A whole year was spent lovingly renovating the cottage and modernising it to a high standard. Everything you could possibly want has been thought of. The cottage is very romantic and is ideal for a couple who wants to get away from it all. The local area is superb and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Bird's Nest is nestled in a quiet pretty cobbled street, with the beach and quay seconds away, as are the many restaurants, cafes and shops. But if you want to explore Cornwall and its attractions, Looe is an ideal base. There's no need to worry about parking as the house has an allocated parking space in Looe's Millpool carpark which is a 7 - 8 minute walk from the house. Guests are welcome to drive to the top of Higher Chapel Street in order to unload etc and the cost of parking is included. Unlimited broadband Wi-Fi is included.
This traditional Cornish cottage is laid out over three floors and gives a flavour of a bygone era. We have just finished completely refurbishing this property for the season, so everything is new and clean in this beautiful cottage. Please be aware that the stairs can, for some, be a little steep and a possible struggle for more elderly and less mobile travellers.
