Old Coast house filled with simplicity and charm while cared for by wonderful house staff.
It was such a pleasure to spend time in a true Kenya 'coast' house with its spaciousness and simplicity with all you need without being fussy - all reminiscent of an earlier era. It was a joy to be there and a tonic for the spirit to relax in the garden looking out on the Indian Ocean and the fishermen quietly going about their business - having seen many of the world's tropical coast lines none in my view are a patch on those of the east African coast with its palms, casuarina trees and constant monsoon breeze. Congratulations on keeping Jinchini's character, charm and comfort.
Kassim, Suleiman, Omari and the 'askaris' looked after us all with great care, thoughtfulness and diligence. They could not have done more to make us more welcome and cared for. We felt extremely privileged. Omariâs cooking excelled and it was a delight to have fresh Indian Ocean fish every day!.
2 families (4 adults and 5 kids). The house is literally on the beach. The trees from the frontyard and backyard provide shade during the hottest hours of the day. The swimming pool was bigger and warmer than expected. The staff is fantastic. A big thank you to Kassim and the team. The food the cook prepared was a highlight of our holiday (a 6kg red snapper, lobsters, crabs, shrimps...).
You don't need to worry about anything. Think about staying with the privacy of a private house with the service of a very good hotel. But not just that the place is beautifully located.
Excellent location, excellent staff. This is an old house, but this is what give it it's charm! Some pesky sand flies on the beach and by the pool, so be sure to spray before you head out.
This is an amazing place. It's our second time there and we had a great time. It's about 45 minutes south of the Ukunda airport and that is a good thing. Very few people on the beach and the beach is MAGNIFICENT.
The house help is also amazing. Great cooks and great service.
Make sure you wear insect repellant or clothing that fully covers you in the morning on the beach because there are sand flies whose bites last at least a month. Taking care of this is fairly easy though and shouldn't be a deterrent to renting this beautiful place.
The property and view is even more beautiful than advertised.
The house is beautifully placed directly on the ocean for an outstanding view and constant ocean breezes. The care and attention to detail provided by Kassim and the staff was outstanding. The meals were out of this world delicious and creative. Our group of 7 (2 children) really enjoyed the pool in the morning and the beach in the afternoon. We had an awesome experience at Jinchini and would highly recommend it. Asante Sana.
We loved our time at the beautiful Jinchini beach house. The property is perfectly situated with a pool and beachfront access. The food is delicious, the staff is very well trained and helpful. We loved it and look forward to going back someday soon.
It is impossible to sum up what an incredible fortnight we spent at Jinichini. It is a beautiful and peaceful location with so much to offer. It is very private yet with the beach at the end of the garden, just metres from the house. A truly stunning place to stay. We were looked after incredibly well - all our meals were freshly prepared and utterly delicious, eaten with the gently lapping ocean in the background. Paradise.
We had a wonderful holiday and found it very difficult to leave.
Arriving at Jinchini is a special experience that confirms your escape from the hustle of everyday life. The staff offered us a beaming welcome and we immediately felt at home in very special surroundings. The house is set within a beautiful tropical garden which turns into sand and palm trees as it meets the white beach and blue sea. We were immediately struck by how peaceful it is. Aside from a few friendly fisherman and local villagers passing by there are very few people to disturb your views of the Indian Ocean and the kilometers of beach stretching up and down the coast. The house itself is very well run by the staff who are always on hand (though discreetly so) to meet your needs. They were friendly, courteous and fun with the children, happily arranging trips up palms to harvest coconuts or snorkeling and fishing from local dhows. The chef was able to accommodate a range of requests and fresh fish, fruit and veg were brought to the door every day. The traditional style of the house itself adds to the experience and has everything you could need for a quiet break away. When we wanted a break from the sand and sea we went up to the lovely swimming pool, set serenely amidst the green garden on top of a small cliff. This was a private space, interrupted only by the chattering of passing monkeys. We had a wonderful time in Jinchini and will happily return to this tranquil, magical place again.
What an amazing place! A lovely house on the beach with miles of white sand. Kassim and Omari (The staff) couldn't have been more helpful & made excellent food (curry was the favorite!) House and location made for instant relaxation. Our 2 week stay was topped off with 3 days on safari - without doubt our best holiday ever with incredible memories to last us a lifetime. Thank you Jinchini !
Such a stunning place, just paces to the beach. So relaxing, we felt so spoilt by the wonderful staff. The fish curry is the best we've ever tasted! Lovely having a private pool.
Would highly recommend staying here.

We are a family who used to live in Kenya and have left part of our hearts there. We bought this wonderful plot in 1988 and have enjoyed endless happy times there. Today, our three sons are involved with maintaining and running it - a legacy they too will hand down. All we want is for other people to share our love of a unique and beautiful part of the world.
