This quiet home on the lake was just what we were looking for, and we left feeling relaxed and restored. The sunsets are spectacular.Sergio was lovely to deal with, and we would happily come back.
Location was great. The view was amazing! Peaceful and quiet. Property is beautiful and we would stay again. Just a few things we want to note. I had to get the door code at 6pm because it was not sent to me prior to 3pm check in. I called the number and a girl answered and said she couldn't help me. There was a hole and uneven deck boards by fire pit and no lighting on stairs or firewood. Info in binder was outdated. Only 2 jets in hot tub worked and no chemicals were found to add to it. We cleaned all the spider webs off everything. The sliding doors on porch were off track. The pans in the cupboard were dirty. It was a great stay I just feel maybe it was not prepared for stay.
Location and layout of the house are awesome! Neglected maintenance of house and landscaping was disappointing. Wilson is a perfect place to stay for fishing and the state park down the road allowed us to dock our boat and keep our trailer at the park for 21/day! Awesome Sunset Bar! Live band! Vernâs restaurant was great too! Definitely will stay in Wilson again for our salmon fishing trips from Ohio.
Beautiful view to Lake Ontario. 1st floor is nice and spacious. Nice upper deck area with ample seating. Kitchen not well stocked, trash and recycling bins were filled to brim, maintenance needed on the stairs leading to fire pit area-which needs decking work as it seems unsafe. This is a higher priced rental along the lake and Iâd expect a higher level of accommodation.
Positive: Great location! Close to water, fishing, pier, wineries, state parks, shops, lighthouses, etc.
Negatives: The house is in desperate need of repair/maintenance. The bathroom had so much mold in it, including on the ceiling. In the shower, the caulk and the decorative crevices in the soap/shampoo holders were filled in with mold. The carpet looked like the original and turned the bottoms of our socks black. It has the most sparsely stocked kitchen we have ever experienced in a VRBO, i.e. no pepper, bakeware, or condiments. Bring your own everything and do NOT count on the "grocery" store in Wilson. Stop in Lockport or Buffalo. Stovetop is disgusting. Only one stainless steel pan was usable, the rest were not, unless you like shards of the material in your food. Garbage disposal clogs routinely. Most of the glassware are coffee mugs. Cable TV subscription does not include any networks nor ESPN (It is football season!). There are 4 thermostats, and it is difficult to tell which one controls what. It would be miserable to stay here in the middle of summer as it was warm enough upstairs in October even with the portable air conditioner on. When it rains and the wind is from the East, expect water beside the kitchen "table" and below the window in the master bedroom loft. Couch/sectional uncomfortably seats only 2 with the added bonus of a soccer ball size stain on the carpet from who knows what. There's a toilet in the kitchen. Try Google-ing "toilet plume."
This was a great house, right on lake ontario. We stayed here after visiting niagara falls for a few days and were really happy with the peaceful enviroment.
The home is right on the shore of Lake Ontario! The view is amazing! The back of the house is lined with windows. Gorgeous views! We could see the lights of Toronto! The Village of Wilson and the Wilson Harbor and Boat House are within walking distance. The furnishing are a bit dated.
We had a very comfortable stay at this lake home. Communication was quick with Sergio through VRBO messaging. We enjoyed relaxing and watching the lake between our activities in the area. I appreciated the provided coffee and other house amenities (throw blankets, shower supplies, etc).
Beautiful views from a beautiful home. A wintery weekend enjoying views of Lake Ontario while basking in the hot tub. Open concept house and large deck would make for a grand dinner setting on a summer evening. Host was very helpful and informative. 5 stars
Beautiful view but was disappointed with cleanliness and attention to detail. Windows with view to lake were dirty. Several items needing maintenance at the house. Electrical outlets didnât work in either bathroom. Smoke alarm was chirping. Front door difficult to close with a loud slam. With some attention to detail this could be an amazing property to stay at. Property owner did not address concerns during or after stay.
This house has a lot of positives - great location on the water, stunning sunset views, three levels of outdoor decks with patio furniture, lots of windows / sliding doors providing natural light, spacious interior, and a park across the street. The pictures are mostly a good representation, but there are a few clarifications that might not be obvious from the listing - the master bedroom is an open upstairs loft, there is no seating with the dining room table (only counter seating for four in the kitchen), and the water access requires you to climb over boulders that protect the shoreline. I may be in the minority based on the other reviews, or maybe it was a fluke, but I was disappointed in the overall cleanliness, which seemed haphazard - the carpet wasn't freshly vacuumed, the kitchen appliances weren't thoroughly cleaned, and there was a pile of dirty laundry by the washer. I was also not fully prepared for the abundance of lakeside insects and spiders.
The view can't be beat. A beautiful sunrise and sunset every day, quiet location, walking distance to Brownie's Custard Stand / Eats and Treats and good communication with the host. The yard and outside of the house could use some maintenance but it's all about the view!!!
Stayed a week at the house. House was as described on VRBO. It was clean and comfortable with everything you would need, soaps, paper towels, TP and even a supply of K-cups for a week. Property is also on the Niagara wine trail. Fun, beautiful place to visit.
Sunrise and sunsets were amazing. Highly recommend staying at this property.
The cabin was clean and well stocked. The owners were very prompt with assistance. The sunrises & the sunsets were beautiful. Would definitely stay here again if we came back to the area. (Visit Victorianbourg Wine Estate down the street)
Property was just as described, everything was spotless and amenities were more than any other place weâve stayed! Kitchen had everything you could need, owner was very accommodating and the view was beautiful!
We enjoyed the spacious open living area. Close to Olcott. Would have liked an awning on the top deck to shade the sun but we managed under an umbrella. Weather was perfect. No easy access to the water. Found a nice beach a mile down the road at Tuscaraura State Park. We had an older person with us that had a hard time in the tub shower. No hand rails or seat available. Other than that everything is there for your comfort. Hosts are wonderful and answer questions right away. Very nice home to get away from it all. Very private.
Just returned from our stay at this amazing property in Wilson, NY and we couldn't be happier! I spoke with the owner by phone the day prior to our arrival and he was courteous and overly accommodating to our needs. Our arrival and entry to the house was a snap and we were instantly surprised at the roomy-ness and open floor layout of the interior. As pretty as the home is in the pictures, it doesn't do the property justice!
We had numerous family members over for dinner and swimming and they were also blown away at the large windows facing Lake Ontario providing an almost panoramic view. The beds were also incredibly comfortable and we slept like babies! The home was also spotless and very clean which makes you want to help keep it that way.
The property is located just outside of the Village of Wilson which makes for an easy bike ride or walk through scenic areas. A small grocery store is also a 2 minute drive away which made things very easy for us when hosting guests. Will definitely be booking this great property again in the future!
We really enjoyed our time at this beautiful Lake House! It has a warm and inviting feel when you walk in the door! The view from the deck is simply beautiful! We had a wonderful time ! The hosts are wonderful !
The home is actually owned by a very good friend of ours who came to teach at Niagara University as a part of their Doctorate and MBA programs. Unfortunately, another job took him out of state after a couple years, but he had already fallen in love with Wilson and couldn't bear to let go of his dream lake house. He asked us if we would consider running it as a vacation property so that others could enjoy it and so he could keep it for his own vacations as well. We were happy to oblige! On the few days where it isn't booked, you can often find us sitting out on the deck to watch the sunset!
My wife and I have lived in Wilson for most of our 15 years of marriage. She was born in Wilson and always figured she'd move away, but we've found something special in the people and environment that surround us, so we have effectively planted our roots right around the corner from The Vista. Our 3 children love the village experience and can often be seen throughout the summer on bike or lake adventures. We truly feel like there is something special about Wilson, and we love to share that with our guests.
Wilson is special by itself, but when you're literally on the shores of Lake Ontario, it's even more apparent that you're in a place that can transform you. We have already heard many stories of how our guests struggle to pull themselves away from the lake, so instead of going out to eat, they get food to bring back to bask in the views a bit longer. The Vista's location is even a bit more special because although generally, lakefront houses are quite close to one another, you only have 1 neighbor, so there is a great deal of privacy. Come to Wilson to get away for a bit and you'll know what we're talking about. The lake is beautiful all year round and with our brand new Jacuzzi Hot Tub, you can enjoy the views no matter what the weather is like.
