Large house with plenty of room to stay comfortably. We had a great time and will be going back next year. Thank you to the owners for a great vacation spot. Plenty of things to see and do.
We greatly enjoyed an eclectic and roomy historical property! Great view, well inventoried kitchen, very roomy, we had 12 men and seated everyone for meals, great fire pit, and a cool historic yet homey vibe. Would be a great place for a multi family vacation. Kids would love the place.
Huckle Chuckle is the perfect cottage for a relaxing stay in Eagles Mere with family. The house is large enough to fit many family members with comfortable and beautiful communal areas to get together. We loved sitting on the porch together overlooking the lake and being a quick walk from the beach.
We loved our stay at Huckle Chuckle. Itâs a cool historic house with quirks and character. Thereâs lots of space to spread out and the kitchen is well-equipped with everything we needed. Location-wise itâs a quick walk in one direction to the beach and to the Sweet Shop the other way. We hope to stay again.
We had a fantastic time at Huckle Chuckle cottage. This is an old school place with oodles of charm. We loved the deep covered porch with views of the lake and opening all the windows and doors to get the constant breeze. Convenient to all EM has to offer! Looking forward to returning!
The home itself is a wonderful piece of history. More than enough room for our large family. Lovely property with comfortable beds. Beautiful large covered porch in the back. But I have a few things to note.
This house is on a private member only lake. The owner had mentioned a fee of $320 for our large group to use the lake. When I called the Lake association to pay the fee they told me for our group of 18 people the fee would be $600. Without paying this fee you cannot access the lake at all or use the dock that is on the properly. This should be mentioned with the listing with the correct fees.
In addition.....we left the home in impeccable shape upon leaving, and the owner said there were "smudges" on the front door and a "black stain" on a bed spread that would need to be replaced, as well as garbage left on the floors. We left the home spotless. She AUTOMATICALLY charged me an additional $150 on the credit card I have on file with no pictures to prove there were any damages with multiple requests for them.
We are very familiar with Eagles Mere and knew what we were getting into. This is a very small community where everyone knows everyone. But being told that there would be people watching with binoculars to see if we were using the dock without paying the fee was a bit much.
Overall again the home was stunning. Just beware that you will incur multiple additional fees above the listing to say here.
The place was comfortable and inviting with plenty of room to move around and gather together. We stayed on a rather unusually cold week and the gas heating system had a bit of a learning curve but once we got things working it went well. Enjoyed the extra parking spaces on the side street. Glad to have had the full kitchen and large dining table to gather around. Will stay again!
My family stayed in this lovely home for 6 days. The young children (ages 5&7) had a blast with the games and space inside the home. The property had a plethora of activities available. This included a large yard for yard games, picnics, and then the lake for fishing and boating. The adults enjoyed the wonderful dining area for meals, games, and sweet conversations. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable and we had more than ample space for all of us. We hope to use it for a larger group of friends in the future. Thank you for a wonderful fall weekend.
We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our Memawâs 80th birthday, and we have nothing but praise for the house & location! Well-stocked kitchen, very clean rooms & bathrooms and a home that is filled with character and unique nooks & crannies. We look forward to renting again!
We absolutely loved our stay at Huckle Chuckle! It provided us with plenty of space to spread out and do some writing. We loved the big living room for use in the evenings where we would each take a turn sharing our writing and feedback. Love the gas fireplace! Though it was chilly outside, we still got in some nice porch time and a walk around the lake.
Highly recommend this for a group retreat!
We've stayed here a number of years in a row now. It's perfect for getting family together in beautiful Eagles Mere. The deck is great for meals & star gazing. Thank you!
Huckle Chuckle was one of the most accommodating cottages we have rented in Eagles Mere and we look forward to staying there in the future. The spacious great room, deck and dining room provided us with wonderful opportunities for shared activities, as well as quiet spaces for reading. Bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely and abundant, perfect for our the different needs of family members.
After being outside working during the day it was nice to come back to a relaxing place have a meal, sit on the porch and play games or go down to the dock and sit by the water.
Wonderful Family Gathering to Celebrate My Dads Life
This home was perfect for our family to gather to celebrate my Dads life. We had a gathering of 18 family members and the home was comfortable and very well equipped! Communication with the owners was top notch, the location was beautiful. The home is beautifully unique, with surprises around every corner. We all would definitely come back for another family reunion.
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Bad water - too long to fix.
Historic, large deck, plenty of room and right on the lake. No real comfortable furniture (mostly patio and wicker chairs). But we were a large group and could overlook that. What was lacking was water; the smell (sulfur) was present throughout all spigots. We contacted their plumber and waited a day, then contacted the owners. The owners doubted our claims, but did send a Culligan rep to service the water treatment system. That rep did not show up until Thursday (2 days before we left). The smell was still present, but lessening with every use from that point. Owners offered a rate reduction as apology, but have not delivered. My advice to the next short term tenants - sample the water before you pay.
We had a little trouble with check in. But once we got in, the home was beautiful large enough for our entire family (15 of us). Location was perfect for my daughter's wedding. The lake was beautiful! We truly enjoyed our stay.
A charming, quirky home that easily accommodated 14 adults. It rained several day while we were there, but there were games and puzzles and plenty of seating in the living area and on the covered back deck. The back deck has a lovely view (through the trees) of the lake. It's an easy walk to town or to the lake. The yard is spacious, we played badminton and corn hole. There is a nice fire pit in the backyard and you can walk down to the trail that circles the lake. A lovely, relaxing home.
Everyone of our family members felt comfortable and relaxed in the casual lake setting. Because of our experience, the amenities of the home and community, we plan a reunion for next year at Huckle Chuck. Thank you for the hospitality, the wonderful home and the great weather. WE HAD A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!
We stayed here as a family to hike at Ricketts Glenn State Park. The house was great! Very spacious, clean, and close to several great hiking spots. Everyone was able to sleep comfortably. Would rent here again!
Eagles Mere is a hidden gem. We felt as if we were in a movie set the entire weekend. The house is charming and well stocked, the owners are amazing - responsive and kind. Everything was clean and prepared for anything you think you may need during your stay. We enjoyed the large fireplace room, the firepit, and walking the Laurel Path. We throughly enjoyed the abundant historical information about the home and the area. We are already planning our next trip!
My husband & I live in Chester County & have enjoyed spending our summers in EM with our 3 children for over 30 years. I am from a family that has been enjoying our beautiful lake community for 3 generations. I love sharing our houses so that other families have the opportunity to create wonderful family memories of EM too.
The biggest 'why'? Charm! This cottage is like traveling back through time to the quaint and calm beauty of an era you want to bask in. Wrapped nestled in trees and moments from Eagles Mere Lake - WHAT could be better? :)
The decor is a 'shabby=chic' vintage flair which has been put together with detailed thought and quirky touches. It feels like a summer camp you might just never want to leave!
Huckle Chuckle is unique in that it still has so many original and charming features throughout the cottage and can accommodate large family gathering.
