Ce bungalow de 1 600 pieds carrés est situé en face du South Glenmore Park, sur le réservoir Glenmore. Les sentiers pédestres, le parc aquatique pour enfants, le club de voile de Calgary et bien d’autres encore en font un lieu de séjour idéal pour une courte visite à Calgary. Il y a même un superbe petit parc pour enfants à seulement 6 maisons au sud d'ici pour divertir les petites. Heritage Park et le Southland Leisure Centre se trouvent également à proximité. Vous y trouverez une piscine à vagues, des toboggans et une pataugeoire pour les plus jeunes.

Près de l'hôpital RockyView, Starbucks, Safeway et CoOp pour l'épicerie, ainsi que d'un pub local pour des pintes ou de la nourriture de pub. De nombreux restaurants à proximité et à proximité du club de voile Glenmore, du Stampede de Calgary, du centre commercial Chinook et du centre commercial South Centre.

Great family home away from home

This was a wonderful place to stay as adult family to host our extended family and grandchildren between wedding events. Great central location that accommodated walking, children's play equipment and plenty of privacy and room for everyone.

House is fully equipped and located in a great area. Lots of space for 6 of us. The owners live in the basement and we never heard or saw them once but they were available if we needed them. Would stay again.

Family were able to stay in a positive home environment while family member receiving treatment in adjacent hospital. Great environment for adults but sleeping mats required for children. Suggest the be available prior to check-in. Overall a great stay.

A beautiful place to stay!

Booked this for my family, who were up for a wedding. So impressed with everything about our experience... The location is easy to get to, but right across the road from South Glenmore Park. The house itself was clean, modern, and decorated with a variety of gorgeous art. Property manager was easy to get a hold of and very helpful as my family set up wifi. Would absolutely book again!

We stayed here 5 nights in July 2025. VRBO had this house listed with a lower price which the owner clarified for me that it was higher, but we decided to book anyway. Great location! House is nicely furnished and kitchen is a dream, but we didn’t do any cooking. Unfortunately the bathrooms were small and not very clean. Bedrooms were nice and big with comfy beds and nice furniture. Unfortunately the yard is a big mess. Dirt, leaves, pine needles, empty pots etc everywhere. Old furniture, fence covered with brown netting and galvanized metal, NOT inviting at all to sit out there and enjoy the weather. Overall, Marty is a great host and very available as they live in the basement. The artwork, in itself, is a wonder and enjoyable to look at. Thank you!

I am sorry to hear that your experience here was a mixed bag and not quite up to your expectations. For accuracy, you stayed for 4 nights, not 5. The bathrooms were cleaned, and were clean. We want our guests to be comfortable and enjoy their stay. Had you notified us immediately of your concerns, we would have had the opportunity to address them and make your stay more enjoyable. We are on site and easy to contact. You are right about mud and needles. A week of heavy rain will do that. Wind and rain shakes loose tons of needles from the four (4) - 40 ft. Spruce trees on our lot. We do sweep up the needles regularly, but it's not possible in the rain. We will consider this as we continue to improve the quality of the landscaping in both the front and the back. Thank you for your input.

2 nights to chill in Calgary

The artwork in this home is stunning and by a renowned Canadian artist. The owner was very helpful in figuring out how to accommodate our 2 teardrop trailers. The living room and family room are very nice as are the other rooms. A huge park is right across the street. So nice for walking. The house is not air conditioned but stayed cool enough by keeping curtains shut during the day and opening windows in the evening when it cools down. I’d definitely come back.

A great Place in Southwest Calgary

We needed a VRBO close to our condo undergoing renovations. We were entertaining guests as well..This unit was close by.Very conveniently located. The owner is very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and even allowed us to book an extra day as our contractor did not want us in our condo. The dishwasher broke in our stay and the owner replaced it the next day ..he even gave us a gift card at a local store. He did not have to do that…but it was much appreciated by us for a limited inconvenience.I thought that if anything went wrong in this VRBO the owner would react quickly.The art work in the home is a freebie as the owner’s father was a world class artist.. the art is virtually everywhere in the home ..almost like a museum in some respects..Well done Marty..We would book this VRBO again without hesitation.

Oakside Gate House

When we were planning our Alberta/BC trip, I was captivated by the beautiful Oakside Gate House photos. With my husband having mobility difficulties, the very short distance to the famous Heritage Park was ideal for him to use his wheelchair freely and enjoy what the park had to offer. It was also a wonderful location to spend time with my son and his family who live in Alberta and joined us at Oakside Gate House. Near the end of our trip we had run into trouble with our train schedule (Vancouver to Jasper) but a quick phone call to Marty and within minutes, we were able to fly there a day early. The house is even more beautiful than the photos. It is a show home with all the art and the modern layout of the rooms. The kitchen became our favourite meeting place for chats and snacks with the island and high stools, although we made full use of the other rooms. It is very clean and the extra touches such as books placed in the rooms were appreciated. Marty and his wife live downstairs and were very sensitive to our privacy. We really enjoyed their company so often invited them to join us as they were fun to be around. Marty has a wealth of information regarding the art world and other interesting topics. A warning here - challenging him to a chess game may be your undoing. :-) They allowed us to use their washer and dryer downstairs during daytime hours. Overall, of all the places we stayed during our trip out west, the Oakside Gate House was our most enjoyable. It was a perfect place to end our trip and we would go back there with pleasure. Excellent stay! Great south Calgary location. Lots of art to view, kitchen set up with everything you need and fantastic sitting areas for cards and visiting. The driveway is steep, we struggled with our low van with a hitch, but there is lots of street parking. Would definitely stay again!

Dealing with Marty was very great! Everything went smooth. I hate to even say the negative but I guess that is what a review is about. We didn't realize that we were renting a home that people lived in. There were messy junk drawers and drawers with spilled cereal. Used food and cupboards fully loaded with not super clean pots and pans. We walked into peoples lives. They must just move downstairs when people rent. I would say the kitchen especially needs to be thoroughly cleaned out and only the simple basics in the cupboards. Also the place really only sleeps 6. The advertisement for 8 must mean 2 would sleep on couches. The outside property also needs a bit of love. We did enjoy ourselves as our family and friends were together which was wonderful.

Some good points Raileen that we can learn from, some points we'd refute. Starting with the expectations, in the description on VRBO we have a clear line that goes "Rental is for main floor of house. There are tenants in the basement.". We become the tenants. On the messy junk drawer, its a fact, that has never been an issue, and I agree, so we'll minimize the clutter in future. As for the cereal drawer, we blew it - a complete miss on our part. Not great. The sleeps 8 vs 6 is a work in progress. While never an issue in the past, its recently come up a few times, so we need to change the advert. For example we can sleep 6 people easily configured as 3 couples, but not 6 individual adults. This is implied by 3 bedrooms, each with a picture of 1 bed, although if taken literally it creates an expectation problem. We will be more explicit. At this point we can swap a bedroom desk for an additional twin bed, and are looking into a day bed with 2 singles. New pots and pans are also being looked at. Well used pots and pans take on a discoloured patina leading to poor optics., especially teflon coated. Now that the snow is finally gone, outdoor spring cleaning and maintenance are possible. So some things to work on, all good information. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in spite of the identified shortcomings.

Comfortable, close to parks

Comfortable spot, enjoyed being so close the reservoir park, especially for walks with our baby. Place was clean and as advertised. We didn’t cook but nicely stocked kitchen.

As a young man I worked in customer catering for the CN Railway as a porter, waiter, and 2nd and 3rd cook. For recreation and conditioning, I still play semi-competitive 4 wall court handball, and walk in the extensive and beautiful trails alongside the reservoir and down into the WeaselHead Nature Reserve.

Now a days I am semi-retired, working on the occasional project for startups and scale ups. Most recently I have undertaken art archiving and website development of my father's lengthy art and successful art career.

There's always something to be done!
