Great for a family of four or a small group. Bring your own coffee. A coffee pot was provided but there was no coffee in the unit. The condo manager is a wealth of knowledge. If it is your first time staying in the canyon be sure to take the time to have a chat with him when you check-in. This condo is located on the upper bypass road. Avalanche mitigation can cause inter lodge. We were forced to stay inside our unit for a short period longer than the rest of the area. This caused parking at Snowbird to completely fill up before we were able to get there and then we were in over an hour line for the tram. Book parking way in advance of your trip to avoid issues at Snowbird. There is an easy shuttle to Alta but Snowbird transportation can be a bit more difficult according to the other guests in the condo. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
The size of the place and the location was perfect for my wife and I, and our 2 teenage sons! The shuttle was super easy and quick - we never waited more than 2 minutes to get picked up. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Alta and Snowbird are great places to ski! The hot tub was a nice touch after a day of skiing. It was also nice to order our groceries ahead of time from Alta Provisions and the place was stocked when we got there! There were a couple of things that need attention in the condo - none of the bathroom fans worked and the thermostat in the master bedroom got stuck one night and it got very hot. The dishwasher leaked when we ran it - we just put a towel under it and it was fine. But otherwise, we would happily stay there again!
As this was the first trip to Utah, so I was unsure what to expect. We arrived (driving) from Denver around 2:00 in the afternoon and called to inquire about an early check-in which they were more than willing to accommodate since our unit was already clean. During check in they explained everything we needed to know (including things both in the unit and common areas). They also set us up in the garage parking space that would permit us to park without having to take the ski box off the top of the car which I thought was great! (We even ended up leaving the car parked the whole time we were there and just using the shuttle.) The shuttle service that Hellgate uses is great, dropping you off both at Snowbird and Alta both during the ski day as well as in the evening. The unit itself was a bit outdated/older, but the furniture and beds were nice and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, I believe I even saw a crock pot. The upstairs bedroom was nice an enclosed (vs a loft) and was great to have 2 full bathrooms for our visit. we also really enjoyed the fireplace.
This unit was great to stay in. It was spacious and comfortable, exactly as shown in the listing. The location is fantastic, right in between Snowbird and Alta. There is a free shuttle you can call to take you anywhere around, which we did not appreciate when booking. The location is seriously great.
The garage can be a bit tricky to drive in and out of when it snows as it gets very slippery and there are stairs down to the unit. Not a problem for us, but renters should be aware.
Great spot right between Snowbird and Alta!
Public transport to Snowbird is a tiny bit difficult since the closest stop is only going up canyon to Alta. But the Alta shuttle is there for you.
we got in really late at night, and unfortunately, realized our car was too big fro the garage. This was something that could have been specified. There was a parking lot against the area but was full. at 11pm at night, with kids, and the office empty, we realized this wasn't going to work and had to get a hotel. We had no where to park and had no clue what to do as it was our first time here.
we also found the place to be incredibly dark. You share a entry way with everyone so with covid be wary as your skis and hallway is shared.
We had a short stay here while skiing at Snowbird. Alta shuttle was easy and convenient to use. Condo had a eats to use kitchen and lived having the gas fireplace. The snow was amazing! Iâll definitely visit again.
We had the best week staying at Hellgate Condos and skiing Alta and Snowbird. The perfect size condo, the convenience of the Alta shuttle to bring you to and from the mountains. The view of the mountain from the condo was so beautiful!! We had a garage to park our car which was great. Being able to do laundry downstairs was a big plus! Friendly staff and shuttle drivers, made our stay that much better! We would highly recommend staying here for a ski vacation!!
Great trip, perfect location, as right between Alta and Snowbird. Condo was a bit dated but overall fantastic.
On staff team very nice, and helpful.
Will definitely return next year!
We (3 gals on a ski trip) loved our stay at Hellgate E. The condo is very clean and well-appropriated with all the things we needed. We had plenty of towels for hot tubbing and showers. The kitchen also had everything we needed including common seasonings. We crock-potted our dinners. (The âlowâ setting ran warm, so add a bit extra liquid.). The condo smelled great when we returned home.
The Alta shuttle is awesome - as is the mountain. The condo is just down the road from Altaâs Wildcat base, and the drivers all arrived in 10 minutes or less. After you call for pickup, itâll take that long to gather your skis, gloves, helmets, lock up, and hike the stairs up to the road. NOTE. The condo is on a cliff. Youâll descend 2+ flights to the office/entrance and climb them (obviously) to get to the road.
The shuttle to Snowbird (also an amazing mountain) was a short 10 minute wait also... just ask the driver where to pick you up on the way home. We ended up taking the âcityâ bus to Alta, and then getting on the trusty Alta Shuttle for a ride to the condo.
The skiing is fabulous, and the shuttles worked great. We did not have (or want) a car.
We did experience Interlodge one day of our stay. Interlodge was a new word for us this trip! This is explained on the condoâs description, and we were aware. 16â of snow overnight and a blizzard created the situation, but we had plenty of food, the hallmark channel, snow angel-making, and our iPads to keep us busy.
The views from the condo are lovely - we hiked the stairs to get some awesome sunset shots the night before the storm.
Fred, the property manager, welcomed us, and was available when we needed him for âInterlodgeâ questions.
We pre-ordered all our food (breakfasts, snacks, dinners) from the grocery store and picked up (as well as a liquor stop) on the way to Hellgate (via canyon transport). Weâre used to the mountain villages of Park City, Breck, Winter Park, Big Sky, etc. But this area is different. - limited on on-mountain apres ski. We loved coming home after skiing and staying âinâ for food.
Great experience. Would definitely visit again.
Also... these mountains are no joke. Start your leg lifts and squats now. Seriously.
