Owners very responsive; property manager is local and incredibly helpful. Check in/out went smoothly.
Beds were comfortable, as were the linens. Great storage space. All the appliances one might expect, and all worked well. The WiFi signal was strong, and handled several devices logged on simultaneously. Cell reception in the area was not a problem. No issues at all with the bathrooms/plumbing. Hot water was plentiful, and water pressure was good. Window AC units upstairs worked well, and easily handled the one truly hot day we had during the week. Heating also worked well. (Welcome to northern Michigan). Please note, no AC downstairs, but given the climate not usually an issue. House is very well-equipped for just about anything, including just lazing the day away on that glorious porch.
The lake itself is beautiful; clear, clear water. Sandy bottom, no weeds to speak of. The drop off is a few hundred yards off shore. Ideal for paddle boarding and kayaking, and both are available for use during your stay.
The neighborhood is quiet, and family-oriented. If you require a venue for a bachelor party, or the like, this house would be completely unsuitable. Vacation rentals in this vicinity are somewhat controversial. In this specific area of the lake, I was told that rentals are almost unprecedented. Being good temporary neighbors might help alleviate some of the tension. We experienced no true issues, other than a strange parking set up, due to a previously settled dispute with one of the local property owners.
We all, (a multi-generational group), genuinely enjoyed our stay. It’s a homey old place, with a welcoming air to it. Throw back, in the very best sense. A shady spot on the lake, with a rambling old house, wonderful experience.
