Awesome house - very current as far as amenities, bathrooms, etc, but felt like a beautiful craftsman house from early-1900s. Great location to enjoy Black Mountain, local hikes, etc.
This is the second time we have stayed at Treetops and each time it has been a huge hit! With so many different age groups, going out to eat is tough. The kitchen and living space is fabulous for a big group. There are plenty of plates, cups and silverware. Easy entertaining, the back porch is great too.
This is a fabulous property! Everything is perfectly arranged in the house, and the kitchen is really well equipped. The Owner was very responsive to our needs.
We will return!
We were unfortunate to be in Montreat at the time of Hurricane Helene, but so very fortunate to be in THIS beautiful rental that withstood all that the storm threw at it. We were particularly grateful for the whole house generator that kept us comfortable for several days. Although the weekend did not go as planned, we made the most of this lovely, spacious house that offered something for all age groups to enjoy. The owner and property manager were very attentive and accommodating throughout it all. We look forward to returning in the future.
Absolutely stunning home. Everything that you would need or want can be found at this home. Montreat is beautiful. So close to Black Mountain. Thank you Lisa and Robert. Highly recommend anyone to stay there.
The high level of craftsmanship in this beautiful home was amazing.
The house was stunning in its location and design along with it being perfectly clean and well equipped especially in the Chefâs Kitchen.
We all loved our stay in beautiful Montreat and dining at the new restaurant and market âBeraduâ in Black Mountain.
Thank you for offering your home for others to enjoy and enjoy we did!
We recently stayed at this stunning property with 7 other couples and were thoroughly impressed with the experience. The house was incredibly spacious, ensuring that everyone had their own private areas while still offering large communal spaces for group activities. Each couple had a comfortable and beautifully furnished room, complete with all the necessary amenities to feel at home. The kitchen was well-equipped for our group meals, and the living areas were perfect for evenings spent together. The host was exceptionally accommodating, providing detailed information and quick responses to all our inquiries. Overall, this property not only met but exceeded our expectations, making for a memorable retreat. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to accommodate a large group with comfort and style!
This is the 4th time Iâve stayed in this lovely home, and my experience is consistently amazing. Fully stocked kitchen, lots of amenities, plenty of comfy beds, room to spread out and a great room to gather for connection and meals.
Iâll be back!
We met for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Several members of the group want to book again for next year!Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We stayed in this home for our oldest daughterâs wedding. There were a mix of ages from 15-83 and everyone enjoyed the property. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and enjoy being with each other (or getting away from each other:-). I appreciated how clean the home was (especially the floorsâŠI hate when I walk in the floor in socks and the socks become covered in dirtâŠyuck!â-no issues like that I. This home!!!!). Home is well story everything you could need and Wade is very helpful and friendly. The town of Black Mountain is delightful and has some wonderful places to eat (Pure & Proper and Fresh were a couple of our favorites). Highly recommend this home.
The house has great space and wonderful views. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, the sheets are great. We were a group of 9 friends all of whom wanted their own room/bed and it worked out great.
The only thing to be aware of is you come up a very winding road to the house nad if you're not a comfortable driver, I'd try not to do it in the dark - at least until you know where you're going.
What a great property!!!
WE have rented many properties over the years for family, this one checks every box.
Great stocked kitchen, lots of beds and baths.
The location is awesome...a little confusing on the way in the first time...but the view makes it worth while.
Several family members and close friends headed from California to Black Mountain North Carolina to attend my nieceâs wedding. The tree top lodge was the perfect place for us to gather and celebrate such a wonderful occasion. This house is amazing and then some!
We stayed here with Family and friends for my sons wedding in Asheville and it was the perfect place. We had everything we needed and the place is gorgeous !
Very impressed with the property. The only suggestion we would make to the Online Listing is to remove âHot tubââŠ
We didnât find one on the property.
We would stay there again!
I was responsible for hosting my clergy group this fall in Montreat and this house was the perfect setting! The living room was a great setting for everyone to gather and all of the rooms were comfortable for each adult. We couldnât be happier with this beautiful house and setting in Montreat! Thank you!
Truly beautiful Craftsman style home. The detail work was just amazing. The layout of bedrooms and common areas was perfect for our group of nine senior citizens. Everything one would need is pretty much provided. Spices, oil, coffee, teas, tin foil, zip locks, cleaning supplies, etc. Laundry room with detergent and fabric softener provided. Bathrooms are also fully stocked with large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash-even q-tips. The beds were extremely comfortable. The large porch was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings and sounds of nature. Would love to return someday.
From the moment we arrived until departure we were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the home and the sights and comfort it offered. Nestled into the mountain community of Montreat, this beautiful home offered far more than we expected.
Pre-arrival coordination and instructions were very smooth. The owner was kind and extremely responsive to questions via email, phone, and text.
We had a wonderful time and plan to return.
Great place for a family gathering in Montreat! The whole place looks new inside and out. Great kitchen for preparing and serving big meals. Room at the table for all 16 of us. Bedrooms and bathrooms luxurious. Just a short walk to the park and pond in the middle of Montreat. 11 minutes to Black Mountain. Both the owners and the property manager were very friendly and responsive to our questions and requests. We were very happy with our stay here!
Weâve been to Montreat for years. This is a perfect family spot for families with teenagers and college students. Privacy and togetherness! Great host.
We are a family with three teenage daughters who share a love for hiking, rafting, and exploring all that Western North Carolina has to offer. Our girls enjoy attending summer camps and clubs, which have become a cherished part of their lives.
Over the years, we've found great joy in hosting families and groups who have come to love Tree Top Lodge. Hearing their stories about the fun and fellowship theyâve experienced here has been incredibly rewarding. Many of our guests return year after year, while others visit for special occasionsâbringing together friends and family who appreciate having ample space to connect without feeling crowded.
Weâve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people through these experiences and look forward to welcoming even more in the years to come.
Montreat holds a special place in our hearts, with Robert having grown up attending church retreats and family Thanksgiving gatherings there. Strolling around Lake Susan, wandering through the peaceful town roads, or, even better, exploring one of Montreat's many hiking trails is truly a rejuvenating experience. Just breathing in the fresh air has a way of calming the soul and slowing the pace of life.
This property is truly a hidden gem, designed and built by Wade Burns, who still resides in Montreat. The intricate details and craftsmanship throughout the house offer something new to appreciate with every visit. It manages to be both majestic and warm, offering a sense of comfort despite its impressive size.
While the house is quite large, its thoughtful design allows it to blend seamlessly into the hillside, making it appear much smaller when viewed from above. One of its most-loved features is the single-level entrance from the drivewayâan incredibly rare convenience in the mountains, with no steps to navigate.
A unique design element is the âmoatâ along the uphill side of the house, which allows natural light to stream into all the middle-floor windows. This feature required over 60 truckloads of concrete to construct the retaining walls that make it possible.
The stones surrounding the driveway are another fascinating detail, repurposed from the excavation of one of the townâs water tanks during the late-2000s economic downturn. Wade ingeniously devised a way to position these massive stones without risking damage to the finished house. You can glimpse just the edges of these incredible stones, adding to the homeâs unique character.
The features and meticulous details are endlessâyou truly have to see this property in person to fully appreciate its beauty and charm.
