Awesome house - very current as far as amenities, bathrooms, etc, but felt like a beautiful craftsman house from early-1900s. Great location to enjoy Black Mountain, local hikes, etc.
Really enjoyed our stay at the treetop. Was visiting family for a reunion and when they came over for dinner, they commented on how impressed and jealous they were of where my family was staying. Would stay here again.
We met for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Several members of the group want to book again for next year!Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We stayed here with Family and friends for my sons wedding in Asheville and it was the perfect place. We had everything we needed and the place is gorgeous !
Weâve been to Montreat for years. This is a perfect family spot for families with teenagers and college students. Privacy and togetherness! Great host.
Absolutely stunning home. Everything that you would need or want can be found at this home. Montreat is beautiful. So close to Black Mountain. Thank you Lisa and Robert. Highly recommend anyone to stay there.
We were unfortunate to be in Montreat at the time of Hurricane Helene, but so very fortunate to be in THIS beautiful rental that withstood all that the storm threw at it. We were particularly grateful for the whole house generator that kept us comfortable for several days. Although the weekend did not go as planned, we made the most of this lovely, spacious house that offered something for all age groups to enjoy. The owner and property manager were very attentive and accommodating throughout it all. We look forward to returning in the future.
This is the 4th time Iâve stayed in this lovely home, and my experience is consistently amazing. Fully stocked kitchen, lots of amenities, plenty of comfy beds, room to spread out and a great room to gather for connection and meals.
Iâll be back!
We rented this lovely home for a family getaway. There were guest from 2 to 80 and it was perfect for everyone! The hosts were very responsive and pleasant. We would definitely rent this home again! It was perfect for our large family.
Very impressed with the property. The only suggestion we would make to the Online Listing is to remove âHot tubââŠ
We didnât find one on the property.
We would stay there again!
With 8 bedrooms and plenty of room to spread out, this was the perfect home for 8 women to retreat from the world. The kitchen is super well stocked, furniture comfy and cozy, wonderful bedding, great dining room table, and of course you can't beat the hiking in Montreat.
The high level of craftsmanship in this beautiful home was amazing.
The house was stunning in its location and design along with it being perfectly clean and well equipped especially in the Chefâs Kitchen.
We all loved our stay in beautiful Montreat and dining at the new restaurant and market âBeraduâ in Black Mountain.
Thank you for offering your home for others to enjoy and enjoy we did!
Beautiful Property, Perfectly Suited for Large Family Reunion
This was one of the most beautiful homes we've stayed in and was perfect for my extended family (three generations) to come together for Easter weekend. Everything in the house was perfect for our visit. The kitchen was fully loaded with every possible appliance, gadget or pot we could need. Would love to come back.
Several family members and close friends headed from California to Black Mountain North Carolina to attend my nieceâs wedding. The tree top lodge was the perfect place for us to gather and celebrate such a wonderful occasion. This house is amazing and then some!
We had an amazing time celebrating my motherâs 60th birthday. To be able to have everyone in one place but with plenty of private areas for everyone created a relaxed enjoyable environment. Wade and Susie were responsive and attentive. Thank you again for sharing this special space!!
From the moment we arrived until departure we were absolutely amazed by the beauty of the home and the sights and comfort it offered. Nestled into the mountain community of Montreat, this beautiful home offered far more than we expected.
Pre-arrival coordination and instructions were very smooth. The owner was kind and extremely responsive to questions via email, phone, and text.
We had a wonderful time and plan to return.
We are a family with three teenage daughters who share a love for hiking, rafting, and exploring all that Western North Carolina has to offer. Our girls enjoy attending summer camps and clubs, which have become a cherished part of their lives.
Over the years, we've found great joy in hosting families and groups who have come to love Tree Top Lodge. Hearing their stories about the fun and fellowship theyâve experienced here has been incredibly rewarding. Many of our guests return year after year, while others visit for special occasionsâbringing together friends and family who appreciate having ample space to connect without feeling crowded.
Weâve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people through these experiences and look forward to welcoming even more in the years to come.
Montreat holds a special place in our hearts, with Robert having grown up attending church retreats and family Thanksgiving gatherings there. Strolling around Lake Susan, wandering through the peaceful town roads, or, even better, exploring one of Montreat's many hiking trails is truly a rejuvenating experience. Just breathing in the fresh air has a way of calming the soul and slowing the pace of life.
This property is truly a hidden gem, designed and built by Wade Burns, who still resides in Montreat. The intricate details and craftsmanship throughout the house offer something new to appreciate with every visit. It manages to be both majestic and warm, offering a sense of comfort despite its impressive size.
While the house is quite large, its thoughtful design allows it to blend seamlessly into the hillside, making it appear much smaller when viewed from above. One of its most-loved features is the single-level entrance from the drivewayâan incredibly rare convenience in the mountains, with no steps to navigate.
A unique design element is the âmoatâ along the uphill side of the house, which allows natural light to stream into all the middle-floor windows. This feature required over 60 truckloads of concrete to construct the retaining walls that make it possible.
The stones surrounding the driveway are another fascinating detail, repurposed from the excavation of one of the townâs water tanks during the late-2000s economic downturn. Wade ingeniously devised a way to position these massive stones without risking damage to the finished house. You can glimpse just the edges of these incredible stones, adding to the homeâs unique character.
The features and meticulous details are endlessâyou truly have to see this property in person to fully appreciate its beauty and charm.
