My family and I had a great time at your house. I will let all my friends know that it is a place to stay, when they are in the area. The house was extremely clean, kitchen was amazingly equipped and the towels and sheets smelled beautifully. It's a great place for water sports as well as relaxing vacation by the lake.
Thank you once again for letting us stay at your house.
Regards Paulina
We loved fishing and catching bass right off the dock, dinners in the screened in gazebo, swimming in the crystal clear water, visiting Ausable chasm, Burlington, etc. the cottage was so clean and tidy. It had everything we needed. Pam and Russ had high attention to detail in setting up the cottage. We were very comfortable here. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed for a week last summer and enjoyed it so much we returned this summer. The property has a great location and is well maintained. The view of the lake is wonderful- we didnât turn on the TV even once while we were here but enjoyed sitting outdoors or in the large living room. It was warm enough this year that we could enjoy swimming from the shore (rocky so you will want shoes but very clean). We bring a 19 foot boat for fishing and there is plenty of room for it and our truck in the driveway. We like to eat out and there are plenty of restaurants between Rouses Point and Chazy.
We had a great time staying at this cottage on Lake Champlain. The house was spotless, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. There is so much to do in that area that we always had a choice. Out favorite activities were biking all the islands and taking a day up in Montreal which is under an hour away. Our host Pamela could not have been more generous with her time and was readily available to answer any questions. We highly recommend staying here. We spent an entire week and hated to leave!

We spent a week at this outstanding property, which exceeded our expectations.
The cottage is lovely, well maintained, has fantastic views, and is fully equipped for any need! Everything we could possibly require was provided. Fishing was great, with our 7 year old catching 9 fish on our last evening. Pam and Russ are pleasant and professional, and were responsive to every, and all questions. The grocery store in Champlain was close and convenient. We are veteran travellers and this is the best rental home we have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
The cottage was wonderful and well stocked with anything you may need, from clothes pins to pots and pans. All items were clean and in good working order! Pam checked in with us before we arrived and made sure the dock and boat lift were all set for our boat. Russ met us on Saturday and made sure we didn't have any needs or questions. Pam checked in to make sure things were going well. Very accommodating! We hope to visit again!
West Winds Cottage surpassed my first VRBO experience expectations!
My (almost) month long stay at West Winds Cottage was my first VRBO experience. My first impressions included how spacious the cottage felt, the overall tidiness and cleanliness, how bright it was with so many windows (especially those facing the lake), and how well-stocked everything was - from spices to dishes and cookware to kayaks and life preservers and everything in between! During the stay, Pam and Russ were wonderful - not intrusive, but communicative and quickly responsive to any inquiry. By the end of my stay, their genuine warmth made them feel like extended family. The sunsets were the icing on the cake!
Pamela, the owner, was very attentive and prepare everything we needed to welcome us: bedsheets for the kid, exact dimensions of the house (to be sure my wheelchair goes through the doors, ...).
One hour away from Montreal, it's been the perfect get away for a long WE. The cottage comes with everything you may need: bedsheets, towels, wood, board games, coloring books or kids, full equiped kitchen, ....
The cottage is located very close to the lake, comes with the dock and kayaks ... No street traffic, no noise pollution.
The only thing you could add would be a dishwasher.

Everything you always wanted!
We had a wonderful vacation at West Winds! Pam and Russ, the owners, could not have been nicer or more accommodating! The house cleanliness was impeccable and Pam provided everything: spices, cleaning products, paper supplies, water, sosps and dish liquids, and every type of cooking utensil. We have rented many places, and we always bring all our day to day supplies. We didnât need to use any of them. There were kayaks, a paddle board, fishing equipment, and life jackets. The sunsets were beautiful, and the fishing was great. We caught a five pound bass right off the shore. Also, we liked the easy access to Vermont and Canada.
We look forward to returning next year!
We had an amazing week at West Winds cottage. Pam was the perfect hostess from start to finish! The cottage is exceptionally clean and stocked with everything we needed. We loved the location and took day trips to Montreal, Burlington, Plattsburgh, and the Ausable chasm. There is a Price Chopper in Champlain, ten minutes away, so it is easy to fill up on groceries and cook at the cabin. This cottage was perfect for our two small kids. She has a closet filled with books, games, and crayons for the kids which they loved. The water is clear and shallow, and they swam every day in addition to using the two kayaks and paddle board. We fished off the dock and around the lake via boat, and we built fires in the fire pit at night. The location is peaceful and quiet...just what we were looking for! Overall, it was a truly perfect week!!!
The cottage is in a great location with beautiful sunsets from the living room. The cottage is small but was very spacious for 4 adults with plenty of seating areas. The owner keeps the property in pristine condition and supplies everything you could possibly need. She was available by phone and made sure we had everything we needed but was not intrusive. It was too cold to swim but the rocky beach looked very inviting. We all loved the property and could have stayed for weeks. My husband and I are already planning to return. Rouses Point is 10 minutes away and has plenty of restaurants and a pharmacy as well as a public boat launch. Other convenient boat launches are Great Chazy River (10 minutes away) and Point au Roche (about 25 minutes away but gives you quick access to the Gut for fishing). I cannot think of anything negative about this property.
We spent a week here in July and even though the weather was not fully cooperative (hot, humid, and stormy that week) we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well-appointed, beautifully decorated, everything you need is here, and spotlessly clean. Pam and Russ met us when we arrived and were very responsive throughout the week, making sure we had everything we needed. We took walks around the neighborhood almost every day, hiked at Point au Roche State Park, and took a drive through the beautiful Champlain Islands and northern Vermont. We loved the kayaks that were provided and really enjoyed kayaking in the bay. The screened in gazebo was perfect for reading and painting and enjoying the water without needing to deal with the bugs. As a photographer I was thrilled to capture many beautiful scenes from the cottage including spectacular sunsets across the bay. My husband enjoyed fishing from the dock. Both bedrooms had super comfortable beds and there are 2 pull-out couches available if you have a larger group. The grocery store, Price Chopper, is about 10 minutes away and there are several restaurants in Rouse's Point which is 4 miles away. All in all, we were very pleased with this rental. We would definitely return here.
This vacation house is an incredible lake spot in a cove off of the grand lake and the cove is big enough where boating is possible, yet small enough to tame the current to enable paddle boarding. The water is clean as is the nature of lake Champlain (no murkiness). The cottage has a screened off gazebo which makes meals by the lake bug free. We also used the 2 kayaks and paddle board. Life vests are inside the house, so no bugs crawling on them! The cottage itself is nice, very clean and quaint. There is an air conditioner which is fantastic as well as fans in each room. The kicker for me were the new style windows, no old timey impossible to open/close windows. This makes a huge difference bc again, bugs.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates etc. There is a kuerig and a kcup tree. There are also laundry machines. The water is filtered for showers.
I felt like I was living in a regular house and not a lake cottage, all while experiencing all the fantastic peacefulness that comes with a lake cottage.
First, I'll start by saying that the host, Pam, is one of the most wonderful people I've ever met in my 50 years on this planet. She opened up her cottage to me and my family so we could have a front row seat to the eclipse. She normally doesn't rent this early in the season, but she made an exception for us after speaking on the phone. When my family met her at check-in, we chatted like we've been friends for years. She's just great!!!
Now to the location..... Nevermind how adorable the town Rouses Point is.... Her spot on Lake Champlain is on a peninsula with stunning sunsets. I wish I could post all of the pictures we took. The location is close to Plattsburgh and any amenities you'd want, but far enough away to completely relax. It's also a quick ride to Montreal and Burlington.
The actual cottage is so comfy and cozy. Pam had it ready with everything stocked up. The place is immaculate and you feel like you belong there. The wall of windows overlooking the lake is perfect. She's has an awesome gas grill, fire pit with wood, gorgeous gazebo with screens and a door, nice deck on the lake, etc. She also has a few TV's with cable and WiFi.
Once again, rent from Pam and experience the north country at it's best!!!
Pam....Thank you again for such a a wonderful vacation spot.
My family and I had a great week at west winds cottage - the hosts thought of everything! It was exceptionally clean inside and beautiful outside. We enjoyed the kayaks and watching sunsets on the lake, and using the fire pit for sâmores. Close enough for short trips to Plattsburgh, saint albans and Burlington - if you need a break from the lake. Lots of wineries in the area too! We loved this spot and hope to come back next year.
We have stayed here 3 times. Pam and Russ are excellent hosts. The house/location provides the perfect recipe for a great location. Excellent fishing off the dock or on the kayak. Screened gazebo is definitely a plus. Sunsets are beautiful. The cove that the property is on provides some shelter when the lake water is rough so if you have little ones this is definitely a plus. Day trips to Burlington, Montreal, saint Albans and Plattsburgh provide good variety to the vacation.
We couldn't ask for a better property for our fall long weekend trip. The view of the lake and sunsets are amazing, the cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. The owner is very responsive and helpful. Thank you again. We certainly plan on coming back.
The lakeside cottage was absolutely wonderful ! We came down from Miami for Labor Day weekend for a little family reunion. The cottage was super clean ! Bed were comfortables, kitchen was so well equipped and we enjoy the kayaks a lot ! Even tho we had a full day of rain, there was plenty of games to keep us entertained:) Pam was very sweet, she even add a little park play for my nephew to sleep in ! I have all good words for this place ! We will definitely come back !
This cottage was perfect for our family of 5! The home was impeccably clean & stocked with every pot, pan & gadget one could need. Just pack suntan lotion, bathing suits & beach towels and you are all set! We made great use of the kayaks, paddle board & beach chairs - along with the like-new life jackets. Our family enjoyed the screened-in gazebo for meals & the fire pit for 'smores at night. Tons of board games, coloring books & crayons provided - ideal for our 9, 6, and 4-year-olds. The lake is pristine with clear water, and the sunsets are amazing. Fantastic views from the cottage all the way across to the Green Mountains. We loved the location and explored Quebec, Burlington/Stowe, and the Ausable Chasm. The property owners are kind & generous and very quick to reply to any questions we had. We will definitely return to West Winds Cottage!
Once again, we had a fabulous holiday at West Winds! Pam and Russ are wonderful hosts, attentive to every possible need. We cannot wait to return next year!
We stayed for a week in the west winds cottage. The house was everything we hoped for and more. Pam was great the house has everything you could need. The beds were comfortable and the sitting areas were great. The gazebo was a great spot for morning coffee or a night time drink. Theres a dock in the water and a lift for the boat which was great for docking the boat. The fishing was outstanding. We caught several fish right off the dock including a couple of big ones. We didnt have to go far in the boat to find more good fishing, we had alot of luck right in the bay catching several bass, perch and walleye. I will be booking this house again in the future and i recomend this house to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing get away.
The cottage was perfect for our needs. It is in a great location and has everything we need. The owner is very responsive and attentive. If you want to experience Lake Champlain, this is a great choice.
You could not have a nicer host than Pam! She provides EVERYTHING you need! She and her husband even came and helped me when I got lost walking! The Italian restaurant is superb. If you want total quiet, this is the place.
Our vacation at WWC was beyond fabulous!!!! From the moment Pam and I reconnected as high school classmates to saying goodbye and closing the door ... our stay was magical! The cottage was simply perfect and so was the weather! Iâm already looking at future dates for another visit ... I feel blessed to have found a friend and a new vacay destination!
