Ce magnifique chalet en pierre était autrefois une école et est maintenant converti en une maison confortable avec de grandes vérandas et des vues sur l'eau. À une minute à pied du quai et de l'eau. Il a toutes les commodités modernes, un grand jardin avec une abondance d'oiseaux et des cacatoès noirs brillants dans les gommes à sucre derrière la maison. Le sentier de randonnée Cannery est juste devant votre porte. Cette maison est parfaite pour se détendre et profiter de tout ce que American River a à offrir.

Too cold and old to recommend

A perfect location for bird watchers. Unfortunately the lack of Wifi and proper heating system, the weird locking system and other anomalies do not warrant a good recommendation. Go to the Mercure hotel down the street.

Well hidden cottage

We really enjoyed staying at La Brisa once we finally found it. The house is quite hidden behind tall bushes, and the entrance is the first unmade driveway around the corner which looks directly at the old garage doors. The old house is very cute and atmospheric which we both enjoyed. A local convenience store just around the corner was a god sent as we arrived too late and tired for going out for dinner. A walk along the beach towards the wharf there was a sigh which read 'Seal Resting Area' and a seal was actually there, which made us laugh to think it could read the sign. The bird life was wonderful and we came upon 3 very confident pelicans. Lots of road works were happening all over the island, so plenty of hold ups, which didn't bother us but could have been a problem if you were late for the return ferry back to the mainland. All in all, a great time.

A peaceful haven

I’m very glad that I chose La Brisa for a 4-night stay at American River. I was looking for a quiet, peaceful spot and it certainly delivers on that. The cottage is easy walking distance to the waterfront. It is comfortably and tastefully furnished, and the garden is a beautiful haven for reading and enjoying the birdlife. Deb is an outstanding host, very welcoming, and happy to help with local sights and places to visit on the island. I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely quirky quiet place

Perfect location to explore middle part of island. Great coffee and superb seafood only a short walk away at wharf. Lovely stone cottage is spacious and well appointed, more like a home than a 5 star resort which really suited our style. Bed is extremely comfortable. The surrounding area also feels very safe and secure. Recommended.

Great location

Perfect location to explore the eastern end of KI. Easy day trips to all places of interest and Ok if you want a long day to go to Flinders Chase. There is a cafe and a couple of restaurants at American River with an IGA at Pennshse and an excellent Drakes at Kingscote.

American River Mindset

The place was everything we had hoped for and more. We were able to land in the peaceful fishing village of American River and promptly nest ourselves in front of thw fire before heading out to explore the area. We felt very well taken care of indeed and would stronlgy recommend for a quiet getaway for couples. We intend to stay there again in future.

Cute arty cottage

From the outside the cottage looks very rough but inside it’s been renovated beautifully. The artwork around the house was great. However the address given doesn’t match the google maps address so it was confusing.

Rustic Gem

Loved our stay in America River KI. La Brisa has a lot of history attached to it in fact most of America River does as well. Such a lovely community of people live in AR and the trails are well signed posted with historic information. La Brisa was very comfortable and takes you back in time, at the breakfast table you get a great view out to the river and the tree next to the bedroom window always had very busy birds coming for a feed. Word of advice do not follow google maps to the house it will take you way past your accommodation, if your PDF sent to your mobile with directions does not open call the host for directions. Loved our stay cried when leaving on the Sealink. I will miss you KI.

Gorgeous Cottage

Cottage was well set up with everything you need for your stay…. It was very comfortable and with the fire going at night just perfect. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Definitely recommend to other travellers.

Cozy character cottage

La Brisa is a character cottage with a nicely modernised bathroom. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with everything you need. The location in American River is peaceful but not isolated, and I found it to be a fairly central spot from which to explore Kangaroo Island. Perfect for a solo traveller such as me. I enjoyed my holiday very much. (My tips: There's no washing machine at the house, so plan for that if you're staying more than a few days. Internet access and phone reception can be a bit tricky for visitors on the Island, but I got good internet access on the veranda of La Brisa. You need to purchase car fuel and groceries at Penneshaw or Kingscote. There is only a small shop at American River.)

Fantastic house for a couple

House was easy to locate, very clean. Off-street parking. Contact with Deb easy and she replied promptly. We enjoyed our stay at La Brisa. Comfortable bed and plenty of towels etc. Would stay there again

Exploring the island

We thoroughly enjoyed comfortable but parred back living for the week. This was a perfect base to use for exploring the island and we enjoyed coming home each night to relax before our next day adventures.

My preferred Home away from home

This was my second stay in American River and I was as happy with the accommodation as the first time. This really well presented cottage is perfect for couples, but also for single travellers like me.

Cosie cottage weekend stay

Google maps did not have correct location for this house but with the directions from Deb it was easy to find. The cottage was clean and contained everything we needed for a weekend away. Bathroom had a modern renovation but without any shower door. Sun/Breakfast room looks out onto the entrance of Pelican Bay. Was enough wood for the fireplace which kept the house warm. Thanks for a great weekend away.
