We wanted a quiet place to relax and this was what we got. Comfortable, colourful, so close to the varied bird life on Waimanu Lagoon, and to the beach and river for walking. It was a lucky find. I'd travel from Auckland again to stay there.
The house is perfect for a small family, but the location is the real draw. The Waimanu Lagoon at the back door is stunning and peaceful and filled with a multitude of birds. From the front door is it short stroll to Waikanae Beach and all that it offers.
The owner gave very food info about the stairs and as we are in our 80âs we decided to sleep downstairs. Itâs a lovely bach in a great spot by the beautiful lagoons with bountiful wildlife and close to the beach
The bach is right on the beautiful lagoon, you could easily spend a day just sitting on the back deck just watching the birds. The inside is cosy, with everything you need in a holiday home. The owner is great, with speedy communication, and lots of helpful info.
We enjoyed our weekend here. The bach was set up with everything one would want. The locale is quiet and convenient to the beach and many different eateries. It was lovely to have all the native birds about too!
Lake behind, river to the side and a view of the sea! hard to beat that. We loved walking around the lagoon loop and up to the restaurants along the beach. Very cosy with the log fire, comfortable and welcoming. The shower needs more pressure, but overall a great stay. Thanks
This lovely property is in a great location but is probably better suited to a summer holiday when it would be near perfect rather than a winter break.

I moved to New Zealand from Bristol UK in 2004. The house was built in the style of kiwi bach and so it suits its role as a holiday let and I love sharing it when I am back in the UK as it's a special spot, a simple getaway for NZers as well as a favourite amongst people from abroad.
It was my dream to live in New Zealand for many years and I chose to live in this region after travelling through NZ for 5 months in 2000/2001. I had friends in Kapiti and it seemed to make sense to live near the capital city, and then perhaps move from there to a more remote location in the future. I never left as Waikanae Beach is so beautiful!
Beautiful lake side setting, tranquil and peaceful, always a joy to wake up and see the ducks, geese and swans gliding over the water and the pukekos picking their way around the lagoon side
