The owners were helpful with all the issues but ultimately the stay started off poorly with it not being clean enough and many items in disrepair including the golf cart. A big problem is the ground floor bedroom gets a lot of bugs since it is off the pool which is too cold. Doesnât get enough sun to warm it up. Another issue popped up with the neighbours German Shepard constantly barking. It lives outside fenced in right next to the kitchen. I did not enjoy waking up early to it each morning as it greeted the workmen. The owners tried to ask the neighbour but it didnât make a difference. Some smoke detectors were not working as well. The photos of the back of the house are inaccurate.
Juan Pablo Fernandez's villa in Casa de Campo provided everything we had hoped for and so much more. The villa has five spacious bedrooms including 7 beds (all queens except the master with a king) -- more than enough for our family of 6 adults and 4 children. Throughout the house the furnishings and art are attractive and well coordinated. The photos don't do it justice. Downstairs the dining table is perfect for 10 and the great room was plenty large for everyone to hang out. The rear yard is large and nicely landscaped with a small pool that was perfect for our grandchildren to spash around in before we set off for larger pools at the beach, the hotel and nearby in the community. Fresh flower arrangements greeted us on our arrival.
But the quality of the villa was just the start. The owner, Juan Pablo, made our experience really special. From the time we first inquired about the place, he made sure everything about our experience would be as near perfect as possible. He answered all our questions in detail. He arranged van pickups from the airport and kept us up to date on entertainment available on site throughout our stay. He provided two golf carts for us to get around the resort, and when he decided that might not be enough for the 10 of us, he threw in his Mini Cooper convertible and a bicycle. He also was constantly available if anything went wrong (like a van arriving late one day).
But wait, there's more. Did I mention Gladys, the housekeeper? She is there everyday, making the beds, keeping the place spotless, doing the laundry, cooking and serving breakfast and lunch if you please. She speaks only Spanish and we don't. But our lack of a common language was quickly overcome with Google Translate. Everything was great. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
What a break from the normal. A quick ride or beautiful walk to the "Playa" , what else could you ask for? The cable internet was a bit sketchy at no fault of the owners, but they went as far as bringing us a wireless "puck" to use for our stay. The cable company finally finished and high speed internet was available.Gladys ,the care taker ,was a sweet lady who will make your stay much easier. Love this place and highly recommend it for your Dominican stay.
