You should advertise it as âa cabin in the woodsâ. We didnât know the area so it was all quite a fantastic surprise. Also let renters know that the park signs call it âthe Rangerâs Homeâ.
Perfect cabin-like setting with simple amenities and lovely surroundings. Perfect for people attending events at Sandy Knoll. A few minor suggestions to share to owners : check appliances are in working order before renting . Wash machine, coffee maker and iron need replacement or repair. Would recommend as a cozy place to stay
Beautiful setting! My grandson enjoyed the swimming pond(except for the biting flies). It was very quiet and peaceful especially for a holiday weekend. I would definitely stay here again.
The Ranger Station is a great place to stay when visiting West Bend. The location gives privacy at night but located in a park with many available daytime activities. Close to numerous stores for any needed items. Also close to Old Downtown, an easily wallable area with many stores and great restaurants. It was our second time renting and will definitely rent here again.
Everything about the stay was good, although the instructions for how to find the house were confusing as the house was inside a park with other buildings with the same address. I also suggest including contact phone numbers on the advance instructions. Since no numbers were provided in advance, I emailed to get a phone number just in case and none was provided.
We had yet another perfect-weather weekend and enjoyed the firepit each day. Traffic bond has been added over the past several years, making it safer and more comfortable to sit around. Josh Hamm organized a Space Race Disc Golf round, hugely aporeciated by our family.
The items that spell "Welcome" were orovided 5 years ago and are no longer. We ran out of TP - no extra rolls. No kitchen towels, no dishcloths or facecloths, few hand towels. No bedding for the futon; no extra bedding at all, such as the blankets, throws, and couch cover for a pet. Also no kleenex was provided
This ranger house is in a beautiful location and with 2.5 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms plus extra space, it is perfect for a family or group. Everything was very clean. The location in the park/woods is lovely. Our only issues were that there was no dish soap or dishwasher soap left for us.
This is an annual event for us now. Everyone enjoys the disc golf course and the trails. We have also lucked out with beautiful weather the past two years and have spent hours around the fire, playing croquet and tossing footballs with the kids.
We needed a place for several family members to stay while attending our daughterâs wedding in the area. The place was perfect for what we needed. It was as described and very easy to access and well equipped.
We used the house to assist with storage and a place to get dressed for a wedding held at The Barn at Sandy Knoll. The groomsmen were able to get ready at the house while the ladies were getting ready at the barn. It was very helpful to have the space. I highly recommend it.
A wonderful and quiet place to relax and unwind. The home is clean and spacious, with a large outdoor wooded yard. Convenient to West Bend and all the amenities of the county park. Our pup also loved being close to the dog park where she met many new friends.
It was so nice to be able to stay just one minute away from the barn that we had our daughterâs wedding in. Very roomy for the groomsmen to spread out and get ready for the day. Beds for 7 but could have fit seven more on air mattresses if needed. Nothing fancy at all just convenient and big! Very friendly staff toođ
We had a great time visiting family over the fourth. This is a great option with a playground and dog park within walking distance. We went to the dog park daily. The grounds of the house had plenty of shade and a picnic table. The trees are perfect distance for putting up a hammock or two! We didnât use the fire pit, but it looked very nice. Plenty of dishes in the large kitchen as well as a dining table.
Only negatives were very minimal, there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, which was a quick fix and there were no kids channels on the tv. Other than those very small items, everything else was perfect! We had a great time.
Washington County Parks Department owns and operates this 267-acre park. The Sandy Knoll Ranger House was constructed in 1975 for the purpose of housing the resident ranger and family.
The long-time resident ranger recently retired making this property available. Washington County hopes that visitors will continue to enjoy the many benefits of staying in the charming house. Use the ranger house as a base camp for hiking, bird watching, skiing, golfing, fishing, geocaching, snowmobiling, or just relaxing in Sandy Knoll County Park.
This quaint, secluded ranger house is located on the southern part of a large 267-acre county park. You will enjoy all seasons visiting this gorgeous property. The county park closes (to everyone except ranger house occupants) at 9:00 pm. Enjoy the absolute silence at a backyard campfire or stargazing into the wee hours of the night.
