We enjoyed are stay. Would stay here agzin if we should ever come back. Two blocks metro station. Five blocks or so for grocery store. The place needs a little maintenance done. The sliding glass door blinds in living room and the bedroom I stayed in need to be repaired or replayed. A couple of the cabinet doors in the kitchen need to be worked on. I think for what we paid these thing should have been taken care of. The lady at the front desk at check in most of had a bad day. She was not very nice. Over all the stay was great
Switched to Pentagon City property
Owner switched us to an upgraded property in Pentagon City due to scheduling conflict, at no additional charge. We enjoyed our 4 night stay, 15th floor views, and the roof top pool. Great location for touring DC. 3 adults 2 kids plenty of room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath condo, equiped kitchen, living room with TV. Plenty of places to eat,. Whole foods, Costco, Metro all close by, parking garage in this location. Easy checkin all prearranged by the owner including the parking. We used Uber and the Circulator to get around DC. No complaints.
Thanks James! It was lovely hosting you and your family. I'm glad that you loved the place and enjoyed some of the facilites. The location is indeed superb and that's exactly what I like about this place too. Hope that I can host you again.
Nice property not a super host
We stayed at the property for 2 days without having keys to the property. That part felt very awkward. The apartment wasn't well stocked, there were no ingredients to make coffee/tea at the unit. The wifi was flaky and not available for all of our stay. Also no assigned parking spot. That isn't listed in the description, so I understand that I should have asked about it instead of taking it for granted.
Nice place, sketchy process
We wanted a weekend place to tour DC sites. The apartment is just big enough, 2 bedrooms, 3 beds, 2 baths, full kitchen. Undecorated, not enough utensils or kitchen accoutrements like napkins, wine glasses, coffee and filters, etc. The local grocery stores are tiny convenience over-priced shops. The local restaurants are ethnic, small and crowded. If you don't have a car, there's almost no food delivery. Check-in was sketchy. Kevin texted, not thru VRBO and gave specific, secretive words and codes to tell the front desk. I felt like I was sneaking in. Not comfortable for me. I wanted to check in early and very little response and no offer to put my bags somewhere so I could go see the sites. Parking is extra money across the street, although the owner owns a spot under the high rise building. The court house metro is about 2-3 blocks away. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the Smithsonian, for example. It is a dog friendly building, so you meet a lot of them.
Unfortunately this guest was somewhat difficult as can be seen by the way she disparages "ethnic" restaurants and other residents having pets. I'm not sure what is sketchy about saying my company name at checkin. Anyway it seems that she was angry we couldnt offer early checkin but despite that still gave 4 of 5 stars.
Great location for getting to activities in DC. Condo was clean with plenty of room. Easy access to parking and walking distances to many restuarants.
Thanks Peter! I love the location there as well and I'm glad that you like the condo. Hope that I can host you again.
Not where we stayed
The night before our arrival the owner asked to move us to a different unit in a different location (Pentagon City), with assurances that it was an upgrade. It ticked the same boxes -- two bedroom, one bath, parking, close to a Metro station -- so we agreed. If this was an upgrade, I'm wary of what the original was like. There was an odor that we couldn't place that permeated every room; it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't pleasant either. The furniture was sparse and well past its prime. The key had to be finagled in the lock to get in or lock up upon leaving. The WiFi was intermittent and weak. We didn't contact the owner about these things since we were spending so little time actually in the room, and didn't want to have to change again.
Positives: The owner was very nice. The location is good -- close to several restaurants including Dunkin Donuts that the kids enjoyed each morning. Whole Foods is just around the corner. The washer and dryer (no supplies) were new-ish and useful. The building's top-floor fitness room was well stocked.
Be aware that parking is a SEPARATE $40 fee you have to pay by check only to the desk staff, and then you are issued a key fob/clicker to activate the gate in the underground parking.
