Very nice property for a family getaway, in a truly spectacular location. Large yard with a nice fire pit to spend outdoor time on the property, and a short walk to a beautiful beach on Lake Superior. Being located in Au Train, many great day trip opportunities also exist, or, you could stay in town and enjoy a nice float down the river to the beach on Superior.
Overall this was a nice place for our family of four, along with our dog to stay. The accommodations are pretty accurate to what is shown online. Cory gave great suggestions for places to visit and things to do that our family really enjoyed. There were a few things that weren't what we were expecting, and were somewhat disappointing. The upper bunk in one of the bedrooms is very close to the ceiling, so we needed to use the futon instead. The fireplace and dishwasher didnât work. We had a couple of days while staying where a fire would have been welcomed. There were all kinds of spiderwebs and dead bugs in the windows, which was not very pleasant to look at each day. Finally, the water, as other reviews have stated, is a yellow/orange color and it stinks bad. Our family lives in the country, so we are used to well water. We honestly thought other reviews were from people who are accustomed to city water. We couldn't drink the water. We didnât cook with it either. We ended up purchasing bottled water for the week because we weren't sure if the water from the house would make us sick. The house would probably benefit from a water filtration system, so the water is safe to drink and use. Overall, it is a nice place to stay, just needs clean water.
We stayed 3 nights with 2 kids and 6 adults and we had very nice time! The place is quiet, the outside is perfect with great barbecue and fire pit. The inside look old but there is a lot of space, good WiFi and it is very clean. We could use the canoe on the river we saw a lot of animals :-)
Thanks for the welcome cookies and the flowers !

This is a nice home with good amenities. We enjoyed our stay, as it was a good location to everywhere we wanted to visit for hiking and kayaking. The house was clean and the bed was comfortable. We liked that the host included a fun kayak trip down the river, with the rental house. We visited a lot of waterfalls, hiked and really enjoyed the area. We favored eating most meals in but ate a few out. When we had some issues at the house the host responded immediately and sent a maintenance person to take care of them. It's a nice home with a fenced yard and the host cares that you have a great stay, also including a book of suggestions for the area. Loved all of the fun outdoor "things to do" that we could easily drive to.
Perfect place to stay with a dog and kids. It was in a great location. Clean and well stocked with anything you might need. Fenced in yard was great. Weâll definitely be returning.
Claims to have river access, not sure where that was? Looked like it might be in the yard across the street. Yard was not what pictures showed, many ferns/ overgrowth. Backyard could use patio area for grill. Grill utensils were left outside and grill was covered in pine needles and needed cleaned. No tv in bedrooms, so if you're wanting to unwind you have to lay in the living room. Main bathroom could use a new tub/shower as it has a hard time draining water from new shower head. Did not base review on this but house is not older dog friendly. Floors and deck were slippery for our dogs. Overall it wasn't a bad place but could use a little more care.
We stayed at this property Thursday - Monday. It was a perfect location. Big yard plenty of space to sleep and hang out. It was really nice that everything there was supplied in the kitchen and bathrooms 10/10 would stay again.
This property is accurately described. We loved the fenced in backyard and the fire pit. This worked perfectly for us! Great communication with the host!
Location was great. Place was clean. Fortunately it was cooler the week we stayed otherwise thereâs no way the AC unit in the wall would have been enough to even reach the bedrooms.
The mobile home is tucked away on a nice piece of property. You feel like you are in the woods even though there are other properties around and a gas station/convenience store/small grocery store at the end of the block (skip their pasties unless you like lots of onion). The fence was a bonus since we were traveling with a dog. The property is an older mobile home with old windows and thin walls, but it functioned well for our needs.
Loved the fenced in yard for our husky mix. Fire pit is a nice touch for the fall evening. Short walk to Au Train beach. Used the gas fireplace on the cool evenings. Only needed one of the two bedrooms, and it was comfortable but small. Bigger bathroom is dated, but attached bathroom to master bedroom is all new.Definitely would stay here again!
I loved that this was a pet friendly place! The yard was all fenced in. There was a fire pit which we would've used if it hadn't been so windy. Clean cozy home! Thank you for a relaxing retreat!
The property was amazing and just as described, very convenient to lots of things to do. Weather was perfect, scenery is great. Fall colors just starting to settle in.
This place is exactly as advertised. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. I checked out the reviews prior to going so I knew the water had iron in it. So we just brought our own bottled water and jugs for coffee.
We walked to the Au Train beach every day! And the shops with ice cream and the little market on the corner were extremely convenient! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for the great memories! â€ïž
Great location. So convenient to get to munising and pictured rocks. Au Train is a gem of a town. The grocery is tiny but mighty, will have anything you need. The northwoods outpost is fantastic...best pizza, great ice cream. Au Train river and beach are beautiful. We don't understand previous negative reviews about the water. This area and any other rental is going to have iron rich water. If you are sensitive to that then bring your own water to drink (which we did) otherwise we found it fine for everything else. This rental served its purpose for us...it was a comfortable respite after full days out and about. Sufficient amenities to cook a nice meal and end our day with a nice movie before bed. I would recommend you reserve the futon/pullout for people under 40. Manage your expectations appropriately and you'll have a great experience here. You'll be hard pressed to find this kind of space with 2 full baths for this price elsewhere. Enjoy it, we did!
Plain and simply, I am a Yooper. I live locally year round and am a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring our area. I graduated high school and college here and I am an avid outdoors-man, I camp, hike, bike, kayak, ski, snowshoe, ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and Jeep nearly the entire U.P. and if you have heard of it, chances are I've been there, or done that. I also know some places 'slightly off the radar' if you are looking to get away from the tourist areas. Just ask, I'll be happy to give you advice.
I manage this property for my friends Terry and Raelene. They purchased it in 2015 as a vacation rental. They really like to meet new people and share knowledge with them about the area. You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner, less expensive place than this. They really pride themselves on having a nice inexpensive and accommodating place for people to stay and enjoy our area. As for me, I own/manage 9 other properties here in AuTrain and have done so since 2009. Since that time, I have been providing people a great place to stay, and the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful area. I will gladly answer any questions that you may have.
This property is within 2 blocks of Lake Superior and the beach. It has a nice wooded lot that provides some seclusion and relaxation. There is river access across the street to launch a canoe or kayaks and paddle to Lake Superior.
