Perfect venue for a Kodiak Adventure with sons and grandson.
The location is close to downtown and shopping... and the main Kodiak road system.
The house itself is well stocked so you can be quickly "at home" and start having fun.
Our group of 7 were not crowded after the twin bed in The Master BR was delivered. The garage was a great place to get into our waders. The house was clean and well equipped. The host was responsive and pleasant.
Very clean property. They only have blackout blinds in the master bedroom. The other 2 bedrooms just have a non blackout curtain. I would suggest blackout blinds for those rooms and window coverings for the main floor.
I from the outside, it looks like your typical Alaskan home. On the inside, itâs a much different story. Spacious and well kept. Kitchen is much better appointed then most of the places weâve stayed. Five in the last two months. Hands down the cleanest weâve ever seen. Towels and bedding are soft and plentiful. Although it lacks frills, the cleanliness and homelike feel makes this place worth every penny. Iâll stay here again.
Nice place to stay, communication with the owner was not good
The house was great to stay in, we had plenty of room and the garage was really nice to use.
There was a mix up in the booking link that I got though. When I tried to access the check in information from my email or VRBO, I was given the access code to unit A. When I opened the door it was clear that a family lived there and I had just barged into their home. It was pretty terrible.
The owner could not be reached via VRBO or cell and she had not given any instruction on who to contact if there was a problem. Luckily at some point the correct access information was sent to me in an email but it was not easy to find.
I was pretty mortified that I had opened someone's home.
I would have appreciated some sort of response but did not get one until the next day that said she would send the correct information - she never did. I left her 3 voicemails and texted. I would have appreciated a call to explain. I hope that if she leaves town again she will understand to leave some information about an alternative contact to access the home.
This property is excellent for a group or family needing a place to stay in Kodiak. It is close to town and shopping for groceries. We would like to book this rental again for August 18-23, 2021. Please contact me at 208-255-8709 if it is possible to rent Puffin House again next year. Thank you!! --Roland Hall
This was the perfect place for our extended family to stay and enjoy Kodiak and attend a family outdoor wedding at the fairgrounds. Only one complaint...no microwave, but we managed to get by without.
We stayed three weeks over the Christmas Holidays and could not have hoped for a better place to stay. Clean, spacious, well appointed, great location. The owner was very responsive and obviously eager to please. Our kids and grandkids, who live in Kodiak, loved to visit. There is a small, single mattress sized "hideout" under the stairwell that the young ones loved. The setting is fine...zero traffic and a nice wooded back yard with decks. When we return in the Summer, the Decks would be great. New carpets and a good kitchen. All the bedrooms are 2nd floor, but the stairway is wide and easy to negotiate. I have PD and had no problems. Best to have a car, which is true for an extended stay no matter where you are in Kodiak. We are long time VRBO/ Home Away renters and have seldom been disappointed. "Puffin Place" is no exception and at the top of our list of places we would recommend for a short or long-term stay.
The perfect spot to compliment our Kodiak Vacation. The house was perfect with lots of room, comfortable beds and everything we needed during our trip. I particularly liked the heated garage to lay out all of our wet fishing gear and give the kids a place to run around. The extra beds and bonus room worked out great. We will definitely be coming back!
The Puffin Place was a great place for our group which included several teenagers and 8 people in all! Plenty of bathrooms, and a spacious, relaxing back deck. Very clean and spacious, and a "10" for comfort. We saw several Eagles fly by while in the living room! The BnB is located less than a mile from Walmart and Safeway. Downtown and the harbor are only 2 +miles away. Historic FT Abercrombie and fishing at the famous Buskin river, picturesque Pillar Mountain and also White Sands Beach are just a few minutes away. We will look forward to staying here again as this has all the amenities you could ask for! A hot tub would be nice but are non-existent on Kodiak, but for the price-- RELAX and ENJOY!!! Thank you, Stephanie for being so helpful. You were a joy to work with and talk to!

We have had the pleasure of living in kodiak for over 15 years and simply love all of the adventures this destination affords our family. In addition to Puffin Vacation Rentals we also own the Cranky Crow Bed and Breakfast and our most recent addition is Kodiak Car Rentals.
There are few lodging options in Kodiak and travelers often end up staying in one of the local hotels which is generally much more expensive than renting an entire house. The kitchen gives travelers an opportunity to save a few dollars (it certainly isn't cheap to get to Kodiak after all) and have the quiet enjoyment of a whole house during their stay. The garage can be a huge help for fisherman and hunters who need a dry spot to store their gear. All in all renting a house can make your vacation or business trip a better experience.
If your traveling with a larger group and require more space both Puffin Place & Puffin Perch can be booked together to accommodate more guests. Properties are located next door to each other.
