Overall enjoyable.
Just a very short distance to the boardwalk and beach access. Very generic decor.
We were there at the end of the season. If you enjoy a nice glass of wine bring your own glasses.
Our expectations were simple - beach front property with a clear view of the ocean unimpeded by the dunes. We got that and more - comfortable open space indoors, well-stocked kitchen and lovely owner who made sure we would enjoy our stay. We plan to make this our annual retreat.
This was a beautiful house. I met the owner upon our arrival and she was very nice and told me about the home. Can not beat the location if you love the beach. It was a very nice experience.
We, meaning myself and 3 other over 60 ladies, had a wonderful time at this beautiful house. Everything and more was available to us to make it a very enjoyable getaway. The host was also gracious and helpful.
The house was spacious. Great for our two family vacation. The amenities were basic, but if you come prepared the stay is perfect. The beach is literally right there, town is 3 blocks away, we didnât need to use our car the whole week we were there. We will definitely plan another trip back next summer.
One of my favorite things about VRBO is renting someone elseâs getaway. Itâs amazing to spend time in a place that someone loves and cares for. Unfortunately, we didnât get that here. This house feels like a permanent rental that is not lived in.
We arrived on Saturday and were surprised that there were no sheets or towels in the house. Called the property manager who said there was no laundry service and as such, we were expected to bring linens. We were traveling from Oregon to visit so this was a bit of a surprise, especially as it wasnât mentioned in the listing. To her credit, while I was at homegoods looking for sheets and towels she texted that she would provide both. She arrived later that evening to deliver these items.
The house was under-equipped in terms of basic items, such as glasses (5 total), functional wine opener, BBQ that did not work, only 1 small cutting board etc. Perhaps if people were of the mindset that they brought everything necessary to be on the shore for a week it would work, but compared to other VRBO experiences I have had this was disappointing.
The house had a lot of deferred maintenance, such as windows that had salt / water damage, and the back doors to the patio did not lock at all. There were no chairs or umbrellas or any beach equipment to use. We hauled plastic chairs from the patio down to the water when we went to the beach.
We were provided 2 adult and 1 senior citizen beach pass, despite listing our party as 4 adults and 2 kids. Again, maybe customary, but I would have assumed beach access was included unless advised otherwise.
In terms of location, it was two houses away from the start of the north end of the Lavalette boardwalk. It was a bit longer walk to shops and restaurants, but manageable. The dune in front is a bit taller than the others, but from the second floor the views were nice.
Overall, the house was represented in such a way that didnât justify a formal complaint, but I wouldnât return here or recommend it to a friend.
