Overall this is a convenient location and large house. The amenities were not high quality and while the house was surface clean there were other things that desperately need attention like the AC, fans and windows
We visited Watkins Glen as a party of 8. This home provided more than enough space for all of us and was a great location for walking into town and walking to Watkins Glen State Park. The stairs at the other end of the street made it easier to get up and down the hill, and we wish we had noticed them when we first arrived. The downstairs bedrooms were much cooler than the other rooms, but they did eventually warm up once the heaters were turned on.Communication was good and the property was pretty much as described. The ping pong table is not a full size table, but the kids still had fun.The home had most general supplies (toilet paper, dish soap), but we might suggest bringing some extra hand soap. Several of the hand soap dispensers seemed to have very thin or diluted soap.
We chose this property because of its location to the state park and we were very pleased with that. The size of the home was great for our party. A little quirky on the layout but overall a large home for big parties that want to stay within walking distance to the park, lake, and town.
We stayed so that we could conveniently travel to/from Ithaca for graduation weekend. The trails were wonderful, the wineries were wonderful and the town was convenient and beautiful.
The property was just as pictured and had plenty of room for a large group! It was also very clean inside and in a perfect location to walk to the Wine Trolley or to the local restaurants and shops. The owner was extremely kind and answered my questions immediately. Highly recommend!
Perfect location - close to the State Park for an amazing morning hike through the gorge. Centrally located to all the choice wineries and different lakes. Walkable to town for food and late-night frolicking. Would definitely stay again when back in the area.
Check in and out process easy to follow. Location centralized - walking distance to state park. House itself is big for a larger group with 5 bathrooms.
This was a business trip for racing. GPS took us to street below location so I could see the house, but took a few minutes to figure out how to get to the actual street. The street is on a one way road. Great place with the necessary basics. Will continue to rent there in the future for the racing events!
I would definitely recommend this home for a large group. Plenty of space for 5 couples. We all had plenty of room to move around and each bedroom had a queen bed. This place has a great location to be able to go to wineries and breweries on either side of the lake. The only suggestion our group had was an 11am checkout vs 10am as several of the places we wanted to go to before leaving the lake didnât open until 11.
Everything about this location is how it's listed. Very clean and contemporary. My only MINOR complaint is that there were not enough towels for 10 people, but one some of our group couldn't make it and we only had 8 so it was fine. We will definitely be staying here again!
The place was what I expected. And I couldnât believe how close it was to Watkins Glen trail. There were plenty of dishes and I love that there was a propane grill. The only issue with the place was that there was no hair dryer, Which was the only inconvenience.
Enjoyed my stay with 4 other couples. Great to find a place with 5 bedrooms with similar setup. Easy check-in and check-out. We walked downtown for dinner and to catch the lakeside trolley (also awesome and very affordable) to visit wineries/breweries and a distillery (6 stops). Plenty of open space on the main floor kitchen/living room area where we generally hung out. Enough parking for 5 vehicles (3 that where large Trucks/SUVs). Each bedroom had own heater so could adjust to your liking-they also all had ceiling fans and quite spacious. Awesome deck, though didnât get to enjoy that as much as it was rainy and on the cold side-but was very large.
Kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils, dishware, cookware and cleaning products. I do wish there were more large towels in the bathroom -but overall everything was great and recommend.
This is a modern looking big home overlooking downtownâŠNice for large groups and very convenient to restaurants and shops. All of the rooms have the same furniture decor. The top and bottom floors have one Master with its own bathroom and two other bedrooms with single large bathroom to share. There is a bedroom and powder bath on the main floor along with a spacious kitchen and living area. Main floor sliding glass doors to the patio offer nice views of the city. It is conveniently located near Watkins Glen State Park which is a very short walk to end of the street. There is plenty of parking in the front of the house and there is an AC unit in each of the top floor bedrooms. There are two AC units on the main floor area. The bottom floor does not have AC but seemed to be cool enough when we were here. Each bedroom on the bottom floor has access to a bottom floor patio.
The house needs repairs:
1. missing smoke detector on the main floor.
2. missing railing on the bottom floor patio.
3. The kitchen cupboards above the sink need to be repaired. The masking tape doesnât really work. A note saying DO NOT OPEN would be helpful.
Other thingsâŠ..
1. Could use more hand towels
2. More places to hang towels (like hooks or towel racks) in the bathrooms
3. A set of smaller plates would be nice.
4. The carpet is stained and saggy and appears to be old.
5. found long dark hairs on towels in downstairs master
5. The house could be cleanerâŠ.we h
We had 4 children under 5 years of age. This place was fantastic for us! Huge open floor plan so we weren't right on top of each other. Multiple bathrooms, huge bedrooms, so there was lots of privacy as well. The AC was fantastic- huge plus as it was very hot and humid when we were there. Courtney was very responsive, check in was seamless and enough parking. Great house for larger groups.
We were in town for a wedding and my sister and her family stayed in the house next door (which was almost a twin of our house). We moved between the houses and just had the best time! Furniture was comfortable. Looks just like the pictures. We loved overlooking the town. Wish it had been warmer so we could sit on the generously sized deck. We walked into town and had a wonderful lunch. We walked in Watkins Glen park and its beauty is inspiring! Some family visited wineries and breweries and enjoyed themselves. This was our fourth trip to the area and we would be happy to stay in this house again.
I was glad that I brought my own pillow, though no one else had a problem with the pillows. There were only two dish towels in the kitchen for the weekend. I would have like to have had 2 more (though I admit I did not call to see if they would have gotten us a couple more). I was pleasantly surprised that the Teflon on the pans were all in good condition â that seldom happens in a rental!
The location and view were awesome but the cleanliness was not great. Our feet were black from walking on the floor. The oven was totally disgusting! Would not use it. The rugs really need to be cleaned also. Just a suggestion but towel racks are needed in the bathrooms. We had a great time tho.
Location: Under 5 minute walk to Watkins Glen State Park and downtown Watkins Glen. Under 5 minute drive to Walmart for any of your needs.
House: Main floor was spacious and had seating for 8 at kitchen table and about 6 in the living room space. 4 Adirondack chairs and table for 6 available on the deck (which has a beautiful view of Seneca Lake and the surrounding area).
Main floor had a bedroom that did not have AC and felt warmest of the bedrooms. A half bathroom was on that floor to accommodate that bedroom. Upstairs had a common space with a TV and three large bedrooms (all had AC. One master bathroom and one bathroom for the other two rooms on that level.
Lower level had one bedroom (no AC but cool) with a master bathroom plus another full bathroom down the hall.
The house was so spacious and the number of bathrooms was really nice for our group of 11! The teens in the main floor bedroom with no AC thought the room was warm, but there was a ceiling fan and overall didnât seem to be a big issue.
Other pros: coffee pot with filters, toaster oven, lots of mugs, glasses, plates, utensils. Being able to walk everywhere was nice. Lots of parking right in front of the house.
*Note: the Google Maps photo does not match the listing photo. The listing photo is the house you will be in (brown color).
This house suited our needs perfectly and was a great place to stay. I would recommend it to large groups who want to enjoy their stay in Watkins Glen!
