We stayed here for 8 nights - 2 adults and 3 teenage girls. The location is superb and exceeded my expectations. The house is directly across from the beach and offers great views. We stayed in November and were impressed, it would be even better in summer.
The house itself was very comfortable and we were glad that we stayed here rather than in a hotel.
The owner was extremely helpful and responsive.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.
A generous owner who goes to great lengths to ensure that your stay at their beautiful home will be everything that you hoped for. Beautiful location, comfortable home, amazing place to stay.
The house was in a good location, close to stores, restaurants, and across from the beach. It was nice to have a working kitchen as well so we could cook our own meals. We would definitely rent this house again.
Charming. Home was just as pictured except even more spacious than pictures appear. We came for a week of vacation as a family of 5 with three little boys ages 5, 4, and 2 who adored the house and the beach and activities nearby.
I overpacked! Home was well stocked, beds clean and made, and fresh towels neatly folded on each bed. So many thoughtful touches in each room. Flowers, beach buckets for children, and a few brochures and magazines with activities nearby.
The beach directly across from the home is gorgeous. Water is calm, clean, and safe. My kids played for hours on the sand and in the water. It was also a fun adventure at low tide to walk a long ways out and explore.
We stayed for a week and a day were never bored.
This was our first time introducing our boys to fishing- and we picked the right house!
So many people in the neighborhood set out in the evening or morning to fish. Bait shop is about 5 min away, and they were helpful in letting us know what we could catch and what type of bait to use! All of our boys caught fish!!
Walking distance is Bradley Point Park where they have a biking/ walking path with gorgeous views of the sea and lighthouses.
A 15 minute drive away is New Haven/ Yale.
20 minute drive is Beardsley Zoo.
20 minutes away is Bishopâs Orchards for pick-your-own fruit and a gourmet farmerâs market with local wines!
For a day trip (1 hour) is Mystic Seaport and Aquarium.
We loved our time and especially this home!
We are Kate & Pete, married for 47 years. We bought this house 20 years ago as a second home we could enjoy on the water, with our family and friends. It was very run down and needed a lot of love! We slowly remodelled the house, when we could afford it, and continued to use it, mostly on weekends. Fast forward 20 years, and we have two daughters, and a grandson, who live in Phoenix, AZ. We split our time, especially in the winter months, between Phoenix and the East Coast. Kate is retired, and Pete is about to be in 2019.
Kate is originally from England, and was born and raised near the water. Pete grew up in NYC, and also had a love of the ocean. We bought this house in all honesty, because it was what we could afford at the time, and wanted to live, at least part time near or on the water. The house became a labor of love, and over the years has been completely gutted and remodelled from the heating and air conditioning systems, roof, windows, and complete interior redesign. We've created numerous family memories in this home, from impromptu BBQ's to family Reunions on the beach. Though we both love the water, we don't like the cold or the snowy New England winters. We winter in Arizona to get out of the cold, and to spend time with our kids and grandson. Our property is managed very well by our Property Manager, Jessica.
We fell in love with this house because of the views from the living room, front bedroom and porch. Sunrises and sunsets from this home are fabulous, and it's like watching an ever changing living portrait from the comfort of your couch or the rocking chairs on the porch. We even enjoy watching thunderstorms from the safety of our porch, as the electric light shows, dark clouds and lightening offer yet another contrast to the vivid pinks, purples and blues of a sunrise/sunset. We never get tired of watching it, and it brings us both a sense of tranquilty and calm that is so welcome in the everyday bustle of busy lives.
