Great place to stay. Perfect central location for a Black Hills getaway. Host was great and very responsive. House was everything we needed and was in a beautiful spot! Would stay again if ever in the area.
Second year in a row for us staying during sturgis rally. Bob is a great host, house is always well maintained. The location and views from the front porch are amazing. Highly recommend staying here!
What a spectacular week! This property is peaceful, charming, had everything we needed, as well as fabulous views! Bob, the host, is wonderful, engaging and always available via text or phone. The property is in a perfect location for easy access to all the great places to visit in the Black Hills. This is definitely a winner! We will be back!!
Bob and Donna were amazing hosts. We enjoyed our âhome away from homeâ greatly. It was beautiful, relaxing, and so close to everything we wanted to see and do. Definitely would love to go back someday!
The hosts were amazing and so was the house and property. It was an excellent base for exploring all of the state and national parks in the area. It was perfect for our family.
Bob was a great host. House has beautiful views. Very comfortable. Provided everything we needed. Satellite and WiFi. Great central location for Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Badlands.
This was a great house for our week exploring the Black Hills area. Bob was there to greet us and show us the property which was stocked with everything we needed. The place was clean and you could see the care the owners put into it. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
We loved our stay at this great house in Hermosa. It had everything we needed and Bob is an excellent host. He made sure we had everything we needed. We even made friends with his horse Diamond.
The location is central to all the sights and activities in the area. We would stay here again!
Wonderful home, location is great. Very close to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments. Bob is a great host and side note he is a world champion roping cowboy! Plenty of wildlife on and near the property daily!
The view from this home is amazing! It is located where Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park (a must see!) beautiful lakes and the Badlands are all within an easy drive. At the end of the day, enjoy the back patio to play games, enjoy some wine, and laugh as hard as you can. Then walk to visit Diamond, the beautiful horse that is on property and who can enjoy a few snacks per day. Bob is an old school host. He will call you before your stay, and greet you on arrival. The decor is a bit dated, as seen in pictures, so if you are snooty about accommodations, this home may not be for you. But if you want to relax and enjoy the beautiful green countryside, you will love this home.
We walked in and immediately felt at home. Everything was neat and clean, smelled fresh⊠I slept in the main floor bedroom, the bed was comfortable, just steps away from a full bath. The AC worked great, the house was nice and Cool⊠The host was there to greet us when we arrived and answered all of our questions. Would Highly Recommend this home, and will stay here again whenever we are in the area.
The house is exactly as advertised. Bob is a true gentleman and great to hang out with. Diamond (the horse in the field) was the icing on the cake for my kids!!
Perfect place to stay. Not to far from rapid & all the things to do with young children. Our family enjoyed the view & the house was very well kept and had almost everything you needed. Bob the manager was super friendly checking on us and willing to help if ever needed.
Thank you so much to Bob & Donna for letting us enjoy their home, our home away from home, during our stay in the Black Hills area. The accommodations were exactly as presented in the add, if not better. The hospitality was fantastic. Beautiful house in a beautiful location!
We had a wonderful trip! This place was the perfect spot for our family. We were able to see the sights (Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, Badlands, Devil's Tower and everything in between) and spend some time relaxing before we headed home early in the morning. The home had everything we needed to make our own meals. Beds were clean and comfortable. Thank you for such a great experience!
The property was very clean and beautiful. Everything was as expected, no surprises. Bob was a sweetheart and made sure to greet us on arrival and stopped over the night before we left to say good bye. We loved coming back to the house after a full day of activities to relax and unwind. It was so peaceful. Added bonus for our teenage girls was Diamond, Bob's pet horse that lives on the property. They enjoyed giving him his treats and lots of love. FIVE STARS! Oh and.....Bob and his wife are famous :)
We chose this location because it was outside of Rapid City, away from the traffic and noise. This is a pretty ranch property about 15-20 miles from town so, youâre out in the countryside which we wanted. Thereâs one horse on the property and he enjoys your attention. Some mornings we woke up to deer exploring around the corral or wild turkeys walking past the front door. And the stars at night! Wow! Also garage parking for our car. Only one shower/bathtub. But there were only two of us. Youâll find your host (Bob) one of the nicest, friendliest, accommodating people out there. We just loved him and even visited his nearby ranch. He was waiting at the property when we arrived and showed us all around and made sure we were settled in properly. The property is centrally located to all the areaâs attractions. Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave, and the Mammoth Site were all nearby. We drove about an hour back I90 to spend the day in the Bad Lands and another day we drove up through Sturgis and onward to Devilâs Tower. Now, again, youâre out in the country so not much dining options. Thereâs a small diner/grill nearby (we did not visit) and an excellent pizza shop nearby too. In Hermosa, thereâs a small grocery store to get your essentials. We stopped in Rapid City at a major chain grocery for our weekâs supplies on out way into Hermosa. Iâll mention again that our host was just nice a nice person. We were completely satisfied with our visit to this property i
We owned a hardware store for 30 years in Nebraska and decided to retire to the beautiful South Dakota Black Hills. In 1983 we joined the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association. This organization gives you a second chance after the kids are gone and you have worked long enough. Bob accumulated several championships in the NSPRA - 3 in the All-Around, 4 in the Ribbon Roping, and 6 in the calf roping. In 2009 through 2012, he was the World Champion Header in the team roping competition in the 60 plus age group. We also traveled in Canada and received several titles there. Bob was inducted into the South Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Donna won the titles in Ribbon Roping with Bob - he catches the calf, she grabs the ribbon off the tail, and runs to the finish line. She's won 4 World championships in the All-Around, 3 World titles in Barrel Racing, and Frontier Champion team roping heeler in 2007. She's also inducted into the South Dakota Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
So, after 15 years in this home, we built a second home down the road, to be closer to our big barn and roping arena.
This home is in the foothills of the beautiful Black Hills, where prairie meets mountains. We built it on a cliff, with a spectacular view. It has log siding, with subtle stone trim, and sits on 7+ acres, overlooking the horse barn and pasture.
We are centrally located to all that is good in the Black Hills.
We built our place on a cliff, overlooking the southwest valley. This one-of-a-kind view includes pasture, hills, our roping arena, and the biggest, bluest sky imaginable.
Oh, and did we mention only 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and 15 from Custer State Park?!
