Cottage au bord de l'eau pour des vacances relaxantes ou un lieu de sĂ©jour tout en visitant les sites touristiques du centre de la Floride. Acorn cottage est sur un canal, Ă  un pĂątĂ© de maisons de la St. RiviĂšre John’s. Apportez votre bateau pour la pĂȘche ou la croisiĂšre sur la riviĂšre. PrĂšs du lac George et de Silver Glenn Springs par l'eau. Attrapez le poisson juste Ă  cĂŽtĂ© du quai. Le yacht du propriĂ©taire est normalement attachĂ© Ă  l'extrĂ©mitĂ© du hangar Ă  bateaux du quai avec 27 pieds d'espace pour un bateau de pĂȘche ou un bateau de plaisance derriĂšre le quai. Il y a un gril Ă  charbon sur le pont pour les clients Ă  utiliser.

Perfect Fishing Getaway

This home was exactly what we needed for our mini vacation and fishing trip. It was not overpriced at all We were able to put the boat in at the local ramp which was not far at all and pull straight up to back of property on canal. Kitchen utensils was stocked with all I needed to make us a thanksgiving dinner. home was super clean. We will be back again next year.

Great Getaway Nestled in the Forest!

This was absolutely everything we wanted and needed. The home is dated but very very clean and everything was in working order. Waterfront property makes it even more attractive. 100% recommend...we will be back. Thank you Al !!!!

Unfit for occupation

I strongly advise against staying at this property. Pro's: On a canal with quick access to the river. Con's: AC does not work. Temp climbed to 85 while set to 76. Infested with roaches. Don't turn on a light! Manufactured house on a significant lean. Back porch structure is deteriorated and dangerous. Really wanted to have a relaxing weekend with friends but our stay was significantly impaired by the condition of this property!

Great location!

The owner was super nice and always returned my emails or calls quickly. The home is not meant to be a 5 star resort, it is in a very good location for boating and fishing and is clean. We did meet some of the neighbors and they were all very nice. I read some reviews prior to booking complaining about the owners boat blocking the view and I disagree. The home is located on a canal the only view is the homes across the canal. I thought the boat added privacy and I would rather look at the nice large boat than the people across the canal. Also, there is plenty of room to fish even with the owners boat docked at the home. I would definitely book here again.

Very moldy smelling, outdoors overgrown and junky

When we first opened the door the moldy smell was overwhelming. Thank goodness the windows could open and that we brought fans to blow the smell out. Lifted the sofa cushion and there was black mold. The front bedroom has a large roach under the pillow. There was no battery in the smoke detector. The outdoors was messy with overgrown weeds. The leaning privacy fence was held up the boards that looked horrible. The hot tub has leaves and debris in side. The whole house is leaning. The large boat blocked almost the entire view of the water canal. What a disappointment.

Amazingly convenient !

Great canal front property with super easy access! Owner had everything you could possibly need and was so friendly! Bed was comfy, neighborhood was was quiet, and we really enjoyed our stay! Will absolutely be back!!

Fishing weekend

This rental was as advertised and I would rent here again. This is not a “luxurious” rental but it also does not have a “luxurious” price. Everything worked, the location was “perfect” for river access, good for a couple or small group. Only downsides are amenities are a bit limited and dated and the deck needs some work.

We enjoyed our stay at Acorn Cottage. It was clean and maintained, it made the experience satisfactory as sometimes it can be a harrowing unknown experience. I appreciate the owners communication in the entire transaction and experience. We will definitely look for this stay in the future.

Convenient location, very clean, older home.

We stayed in this home for Memorial Day weekend with our boat. It was the perfect location for a ride up the river to Silver Glen. The home was a bit old but it was still perfectly functional. Great house at a great price.

Wonderful Time in Astor

We had a wonderful stay at the Acorn Cottage, and plan to visit frequently. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place to go. We had a great time sitting on the porch and watching nature. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a day at the springs and hiking. The movie collection in the home was great! Another great way to pass some time at night, seeing as town shuts down early. It was very nice to be able to bring and prepare food so that you are not eating every meal out while on vacation. The owner is great to work with, and a clear communicator. We were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness of the house. The house is easy to find, and the cell phone connection worked well, even though you are in the middle of a Forrest. If you are looking to escape to nature, quiet, and a peaceful environment - Acorn Cottage is the spot for you.

Boat parked on dock all weekend obstructed any water relaxation or privacy. Blinds wouldn't close further preventing privacy. Obvious rodent activity prevented use of hot tub. Disappointing.

Perfect Get-Away for a Quiet Weekend

The Acorn Cottoge is the perfect get-away for a quiet weekend. The home is very clean and very well stocked with extras such as books, puzzles, movies and cds. Both the back porch and deck area are very relaxing. The location is peaceful. It is far enough away from the typical hustle and bustle yet close enough to areas that provide good entertainment. The owner was very pleasant and easy to work with.

Great location and confortable for the most part.

The property was in a perfect location for the river trips we had planned in our boat, which we docked right there at the house. The house was clean. Linens and supplies were plentiful. The kitchen was well equipped with everything except a dishwasher. The only negative was the condition of the deck (many loose boards which were a trip hazard) and the air conditioning not working well in the front bedroom and bathroom. The owner was accessible for our questions. Overall it was very acceptable.

The house was perfect for our travel needs!

Acorn Cottage worked out perfect for us. The screened in porch was perfect for enjoying the morning cup of coffee. The neighborhood was very quiet. Didn't bring fishing gear, but if we had, we could have fished off of the dock.

GREAT BOATING & FISHING IN ASTOR

My husband and I have rented many homes on the St. Johns and we particularly love the Astor area. Acorn Cottage is very clean, has great access to the river via a short canal ride and super dockage. The owner was easy to work with and probably rents other VRBOs because he provided all sorts of little extras that made our stay better (i.e., books and movies on hand for rainy days, extra candles for back porch ambience, basic spices and paper goods on an honor system (use, but replace)). Acorn cottage is not fancy or large, but it is comfortable, convenient, safe, quiet, well-equipped and clean. The place is perfect for a boating and/or fishing weekend or vacation. Our favorite things about the rental were the back porch, its location on the river and the attention/customer service we received from the owner. We hope to rent there again and again.

Great place and location

This was a great place, clean and quiet! I was looking for a place to get away from the rat race... This was it! The dock and screened porch were perfect, fire pit on the dock was an awesome place to enjoy the fire and the peace and quiet. Accommodations are very clean and comfortable, will definitely go back.

We will be back!

This cottage is VERY CLEAN and equipped with everything you need. We brought our boat, so we used the back dock alot. It has great access to the river and it was nice to just pull up and dock your boat at the end of the day. The owner is very trustworthy and provided top of the line customer service. We look forward to many returns at the good ole Acorn Cottage!
