Loved this property. It was comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and a washing machine. It had a lovely little outdoor space in which to relax and unwind, watching all the boats and barges on the river after a long day of walking and sightseeing in the city. A short, free ferry ride to grocery stores or a lovely stroll in the other direction, across 3 locks to 'Landmarkt', a lovely organic grocery Easy tram ride to Central Station. We highly recommend this property.
Maria is a perfect host, the cottage is beautiful, well equiped and close to the tram. We also had access to bike to go and explore the surrounding. Great place to relax after exploring busy Amsterdam.
Great location with view over waterway. Tram 26 is just 15 minutes walk away, takes you right to Centraal station quickly. Maria is an excellent host, with lots of helpful information. She was kind and generous, leaving us food for our first night, so we did not need to go out shopping. The cottage has all the amenities you need.
Maria is an incredible host. She was easily reachable and she offered ideas and let us know about events while we were visiting. She also had food and wine for us so we did not have to run out after a long day of travel. The bed was very, very comfortable and the shower had great water temperature and pressure. The property was quiet and lovely. It was about a 12 minute walk to the number 26 tram that gets you right into central station in Amsterdam in about 10 minutes. It comes regularly but be advised - it stops running at 12:30am. We loved our stay! Thank you, Maria!
My daughter and I had a lovely time staying at Mariaâs cottage. The location was so quiet and peaceful and we loved looking out at the boats. Maria was so kind and helpful with anything we needed (including how to use the washing machine). We used the trams (a short walk away) to get into the center of town. n response to an earlier review, the shower has a mat in it and did not seem at all slippery or unstable⊠we highly recommend Mariaâs place!
Our 5 night stay here was delightful! Our host Maria was very helpful and generous. She stocked us with all the basic supplies plus extra; eggs, granola, milk, cheese, yogurt, fruit, pasta, wine, cookies, nuts and more! She even drove us to the Central train station on our last day! Using their bicycles locally made getting back to and from the tram stop a breeze. The accommodation was spacious with lots of light and had a rustic cabin feel in the countryside. The beds were one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in and the nights were quiet and peaceful. It was such a restful place where we could recharge after a busy day. We highly recommend Maria and her delightful abode!
The riverside location was wonderful and unique, visually inspiring and especially suitable for enthusiastic walkers. Easy access to and from the madding crowds, with the joys of Amsterdam available in many directions.
A more thoughtful and helpful host would be hard to find.
A very quiet place to recreate from the city. Very nice view over the water, always new with passing ships, different lights, sundown every evening.
Maria very friendly, helpful, generous (full fridge, basics like olive oil, salt etc. for free, even old but solid bikes for free).
There are different interesting ways to go by bike to the city.
A very nice stay!
Stefan
Fantastic location on the Bank of the IJ River, 10 min walking to reach the Tram and 10 min to be at the central Amsterdam station wich open the entire city for discovery !
Maria is a very kind host who will take care of of you upon arrival, don't worry for your breakfast or your first meal, everything is ready !
Enjoy the view of the IJ River from the cottage !
We were welcomed very friendly and lovingly by our host. The accommodation is nice and very cozy. The view of Amsterdam from kitchen und sleeping room is breathtaking.
We will defenetly come here again.
Greetings
Susanne and Susanne
What a pleasant surprise, first the location was perfect. After exploring Amsterdam, coming home to a quiet place, sitting outside, and watching all the boats go by.
The place was perfect for two people, the kitchen had everything you needed. The beds were good too.
Maria was an amazing host, even pitched a tent outside for one of us to sleep in and drove us to the airport.
She was always available for questions and suggestions on where to explore.
We highly recommend Mariaâs place.
We had a delightful stay at Maria's light-filled, waterfront property. The unique location, comfortable rooms and well appointed kitchen made us very happy! Maria thoughtfully stocked the fridge with some necessities and treats to make our stay more comfortable, and was a friendly, helpful host thoughout our visit. I wish we could have could stayed longer! I would return - and recommend it to friends - in a heartbeat.
My daughter and I immensely enjoyed our stay. The location was quiet, convenient to the city and interesting since you could watch the boats go by. The best parts: watching the sunsets and the birds in the water. Maria was very accommodating and informative. She checked with us frequently to see if we were comfortable-Thanks Maria!
We had the most amazing stay here. Maria was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. We were able to check in early, which was amazing as we had traveled many hours and our flight landed quite early in the morning. The view is great and I spent most every evening watching the boats and listening to the birds. Although this house looks small, it has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. It's a short scenic walk to the tram station, which takes you right to Amsterdam Centraal and everything you could possibly want to do. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Will absolutely have this house on my places to stay again, and you should too!
This lovely accommodation has a beautiful view of the water and Amsterdam. The sunsets are fantastic. After walking to the island tram station, transport into the city is extremely easy. As a grocery store is not within walking distance, our host kindly shopped for breakfast bits which were extremely helpful. There is a sink within each bedroom!
The cottage is outside of Amsterdam and has a beautiful location. The city is easily accessible by tram (15 minutes walk) or by 10 minutes drive. The cottage is clean and has basically everything you need to cook for yourself. Maria is a very friendly and helpful host who fills the fridge and puts flowers on the table.
The only disadvantage was that we caught a few very hot days, which showed that it also gets very warm in the cottage and the insect-proof (river!) ventilation could be improved.
We are happy to recommend Maria and her cottage.
We can't say enough wonderful things about this property! The location is incredible! You are a short walk from public transport but located on the Het IJ waterway with full windows facing the river . Your views include all of the interesting boat traffic as well as the city of Amsterdam across the waterway from a quiet natural setting !
The property itself is very comfortable and includes everything you may need for a very comfortable stay!
The Hosts are simply the best! Very helpful and accommodating in every way! This is a great place to stay and enjoy a full range of all the things that Amsterdam has to offer! Bill and Mariah Finnicum
This is now our second visit and we found it just as lovely and restful as when we first stayed.
The house is beautiful and light and offers a retreat from the busy city centre, with incredible views of the Ij, and cargo boats passing by.
We loved walking across the nearby Oranjesluizen with our children and watching the boats go through the locks.
There is an excellent team service to and from Central Station, and there is now a nearby ferry to cross to Sporenburg (one of the islands opposite). The island the house is on (Zeeburgereiland) is being built on now, but the house is well protected from this as it faces the opposite direction and is shielded by trees, so the building activity didnât bother us at all.
Maria is a thoughtful host and there was fresh food in the kitchen to get us started.
Our children think we should give more than 5 stars but we canât!
My family of four stayed at Maria's cottage while visiting Amsterdam. The home was lovely and Maria was very kind. The home has a lot of space and is nicely furnished. The views from the cottage were beautiful, we enjoyed many spectacular sunsets during our stay. Our son loved watching the cargo and
cruise ships pass by the cottage.
Despite being close to central Amsterdam (4 tram stops from Central Station) it is located in a very quiet area and provides a nice break from the busy city. The cottage is a 10 minute walk from the tram stop. Be sure to look for the small, dirt path at the far end of the parking lot (it is easy to miss the first time).
We couldn't believe how many fresh groceries Maria left for us during our stay. She filled the fridge/pantry with fresh bread, buns, organic milk & cheese, juice, jam, fruit, coffee, 2 bottles of wine, cookies, pasta, soup, etc..
Maria had a day off work the day we were checking out and offered to drive us to the airport, we are very grateful for her generosity!
This cottage was perfect for us during our stay in Amsterdam, we will stay here again if we visit Amsterdam again!
The rental is very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the bedding was very nice, especially considering our other experiences with European rentals. It has a nice view of the water & to watch the sun set. The tap water was amazing--tasted just like bottled spring water which we filled up every day before heading out. We were given some food and wine which was a very nice touch as well as a tram ticket to get into town--also greatly appreciated! We bought a 5 day pass for the tram in central station.
The shower was VERY slippery & it slopes, so be careful, but otherwise fine. Owner adding non-slip would be good.
We were given an incorrect address (according to Google) so our driver had a hard time finding it, but we were able to call the owner & figured it out. Also, there was construction in the area so it was about a mile walk to the tram which took about 22 minutes rather than 10 as stated. I would definitely get a private driver to pick you up at the airport & bring you to the rental-I can't imagine that walk with luggage and it wasn't that much more for 2 people than a train & tram ticket ($120 rt) not to mention the hassle! We did catch an Uber a couple of times after dark as it is more of a remote area and it cost about $15-worth it!
Be warned that the door locks behind you. We left a piece of luggage in the rental when we were leaving (left keys inside)--luckily the owner answered her phone & the husband was home (they live next door) to let us back in.
