Great place to stay if u plan on floating the Buffalo from Ponca to Kyles Landing. Not far from Jasper, too. Had a great time, full kitchen for cooking and plenty of beds and bathrooms (2 1/2). Lots of yard to spread out on.
I know how difficult cleaning a big place is. However please use the fees we pay to have someone clean thoroughly, including the mice droppings under the sinks. I cleaned the 1/2 bath myself. We loved the house and the history and the views, enjoyed the firepit and porch, beds were clean and sheets fresh. So thank you for that! We'll recommend and try to come back!
Overall, a great place to stay. It just needs some attention. Positives:If you're looking to spend time on the Buffalo River this location is fantastic for access to the upper sections. It was very clean.Things that need some attention:For a place advertised to sleep 8 people, there was a lack of utensils for 8, and other kitchen amenities like a large skillet and other odds and ends. The electrical system in the old house needs attention. Some receptacles didn't send enough power to charge phones, the microwave pulled too much power off the circuit and was sketchy, the lights would flicker occasionally. The broad band wasn't very broad. 8 people with smart devices put a load on the wifi and it often choked and did nothing. One shower for 8 people and a bathtub with a stopper that didn't seal. So, not baths as an alternative. The kitchen sink faucet needs replacing, it's seen better days. The grass had not been cut and several of us found ticks on ourselves. This is a safety hazard due to the risk of lyme disease and other tick related maladies. The single beds could use new mattresses, those that slept in them were not fans. The previous guests nor the host had taken the trash out to the street so the cans were full and bags left next to the cans by previous guests had been raided by wildlife and trash was strewn across the lawn.Overall, if the above issues were addressed I'd definitely consider staying there again. But as is, no, I'd look elsewhere.
The Coffey was as advertised. Central location between Ponca, Jasper and Pruitt. House was well stocked with everything needed for our big group to relax, cook and enjoy the area. Would recommend.
We enjoyed everything about this house and location. It was really nice to get out of town for a weekend and just relax. Itâs located in a beautiful part of our state as well.
The communication from our host was friendly and fast. I really appreciate how responsive she was. We had all the information we needed before our stay. Our family had an amazing time. The location is fantastic, easy to find, and near great restaurants, the square, and outdoor activities. We enjoyed the open living area and the fire pit outside. The separate bedrooms provided great privacy for our young adult children. It was wonderful to have a pet-friendly location. Being an older home in a rural area makes it tough to keep critters out, but was overall a great place and had everything we needed for a weekend of family time. We've already discussed coming back.
The old Coffey place felt like home when we walked in. It was comfortable, roomy and well maintained. The canyon view out the front picture windows was awesome regardless whether it was raining or sunny. The close proximity to the Buffalo National River (a quarter mile walk to a dirt access road), and just 2 miles to the Buffalo River Trail, was an unexpected bonus. The delightful road runner that visited in the morning was cool, too - the first time any of us had ever seen one.
We had 7 in our group and the house was a comfortable fit. Everyone had their own space and there are several areas to hang out together as well. The kitchen had everything we needed. The view from the front of the house is beautiful and we spent a lot of time on the rocking chairs on the front porch. It only took about 10 min to get to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch or Kyle's Landing and 45 to Cowell. Merlyn took good care of all of our needs. We would stay at Coffey Place again.
A group of us wanted to be in nature in the Ozarks and this was a great place. Close to the river and kayaking and near a number of different hikes in the park. We loved sitting on the rocking chairs on the front porch and looking at the view. The bedrooms were small but that didn't matter because we were not in them very much. The kitchen had what we needed to cook every night. We would go back.
The location was great. Only problems we had were that there were quite a few bugs indoors and the toilet in the main bathroom (with the only shower) wasn't working well. But the host communicated quickly.
