Studio Maria at Playa Caribe is a compact, well-appointed studio in Akumal’s Half Moon Bay. Facing the street side of the building, it provides a quiet retreat while keeping you steps away from the beach and pool. The space is furnished with two double beds, a private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, and a kitchenette for simple meal preparation. Accommodating up to four guests, it’s an excellent choice for couples, friends, or small families seeking convenience and comfort.

Guests have access to Playa Caribe’s signature amenities: oceanfront swimming pool, sun loungers, BBQ grill, outdoor shower, and lush hanging gardens. Daily maid service, purified water, beach towels, and on-site concierge support are included, ensuring a relaxed and easy stay.

Studio Maria is a beautiful street side studio situated on the garden side of Playa Caribe beachfront condominiums. This well appointed suite offers 2 double beds, a fully equipped kitchenette and A/C. You will love its incredible central location and access to snorkeling on Half Moon Bay.

This is a streetview studio without direct ocean views, but guests enjoy the same beachfront perks. Half Moon Bay has rocky patches; water shoes are suggested for safe swimming. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified water are provided.

Great, quiet location along the beach, clean condo with everything you need available.

Our stay at this property was very positive. The room was stocked with everything we would need. The check-in was easy and extremely hospitable. The restaurants nearby were lovely as well. I would recommend this area of Akumal as well as this accommodation - good value!

The perfect getaway.

Our stay at the Beachfront Casita could not have been any more perfect. Everything about our stay in Akumal was wonderful. Augustine, the on site manager, was very responsive for any requests that we had during our stay. We are already planning a return trip next year, if not before.

Great Casita at a Great Price

This is a great Casita on Half Moon Bay in Akumal. The property has a pool next to the beach and inside they had snacks upon our arrival. We used this as a base for three days while visiting Coba, Cenotes and Tulum. The men worked very hard to clear the beach of sargassum grass so we bought them breakfast one morning. We loved the place!

Beautiful beachfront

Clean, quiet. The beach is right there, including amazing snorkeling. Very nice pool and patio on the beachside (the casita faces the street). Excellent housekeeping service every day. The casita is very simple but met all our needs. The maintenance guys are great at maintaining a beautiful beach setting.

GREAT Casita

We usually stay in condo's while traveling and have been to Akumal many times. We love Playa Caribe Condo's! The location is great, Augustine and staff are wonderful! I highly recommend Casita Maria. The beds are very comfy, the entire condo is very well equipped. Thank you SO much!!!!

Great Location!

Well kept property walkable to town. Don't take taxi's, colectivo is safe, cheap and fast for Tulum or Playa del Carmem adventures.

Excellent location and very clean!

If you do not care about having an ocean view from your room, this place is perfect. We made breakfast and coffee in the full size kitchen every morning and walked a few steps to the umbrella tables poolside to watch the ocean waves as we ate. Nice little beach with shade umbrellas. Easy walk to restaurants and store. The room felt a little damp with a slight musty smell, although this did not impact our stay in a negative way at all. Beds were comfy and water pressure in shower was great.

The perfect getaway

I booked our stay based soley on the previous reviews; everyone had such great things to say about their own visits that I was confident we (my boyfriend and I) would have a great time as well. Great is an understatement...we have been home 3 days now and I'm already thinking about when we can make a return visit. I had expectations of a relaxing beach side vacation, but was not prepared for how friendly everyone was--staff, locals, and fellow travelers alike, and the food! We ate at a different place each night and were never disappointed, Turtle Bay Cafe and Lol-Haa, I think are my favorite though. The room was beautiful and the beds are super comfortable, and Agostin, the property manager was very helpful with all of our questions.

The A/C worked great and it was very comfortable. The service was very good and everything we asked about was communicated perfectly. We will definitely stay again. Hopefully next time up on a higher floor to see the beautiful views. The pool area was clean and water was perfect.

Great location

Chris and Polly's place was perfect for what we needed, we could walk to everything easily. The place itself was very cute and they thought of everything as far as utensils for the kitchen. Our only issue and it's probably not even able to be helped because of the concrete is that it was quite hard to dry anything due to the dampness and in turn some things started to smell a little of must. For the amount of time you spend inside it didn't really bother us but maybe a dehumidifier would help? We will be recommending to people for sure.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Playa Caribe, we left PA with rain and cool temps, and received sunshine and warm temps in Akumal. As we have been coming to the area since 2005, we knew what to expect and how to get around. Yes, things are changing, the climate for one and the amount of tourists. But if you want to enjoy some quieter times and a number of good eating places all within walking or biking distance, give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I and are 4-year-old son stayed at Casita Maria for two nights. We really appreciated the warm welcome from the staff and the goodie basket (especially the pineapple!). This is truly one of the best bargains in Akumal. We had a couple of days to kill before moving into a larger villa with friends for a week, and Casita Maria and the Playa Caribe condo complex suited our needs very well. Our son loved the pool, and we even were alerted to a turtle nesting in the middle of the night! The casita was very clean and brightly appointed, and stocked with just about anything we would need. We enjoyed it!

Sargassum :(

Apparently our trip coincided with an epically bad sargassum (sea grass) episode. It made beach time, swimming, snorkeling... unpleasant. This casita is nice, and comfortable except for the humidity was intense. The kitchen was nice to have and the snacks on arrival are a nice touch. Check in was easy and staff pleasant. If you are an early riser and have a day that you plan to get out early, the water heaters are on timers and not on before 7AM. It was very quiet for 4 of our days, but after that I think someone with kids came in and you could hear them upstairs. Not too bad. They were very nice about letting us stay later since we had an evening flight.

Absolutely darling little bungalow

The complex at Playa Caribe appears to be very well maintained and there was always someone on site in case there was ANY problem. Our particular bungalow was so cute, very well maintained and clean inside, maid came in everyday which was divine, and there was a basket of essentials like coffee, bananas, chips, cookies, a pineapple, to get us going for the week. Most thoughtful and thank you. Although near the road, heard very little road noise. Suited us well, wifi was always available and strong, tv/satellite worked great, kitchen was well equipped. We love Akumal for its' convenience to everything so this was a wonderful last minute find. An observation and beyond the owner's control, can get somewhat noisy with foot traffic from above if there's a family (in our case, family of 5) in residence. Loved the pool and the beach although the seaweed was quite heavy in Half Moon Bay while we were there. Really great restful week away.

LOVED our stay at Casita Maria

We are so happy we were able to stay at Casita Maria! It was so charming, and the location was unbelievable! Right on the beach in Half Moon Bay! Beautiful, and great snorkeling too. We saw stingrays, turtles, and a lot of fish! We loved it! And there was no sargassum. The beach was perfect!!! For the price, this little gem is fantastic! It's not huge... it's like a hotel room with a bonus kitchen. Everything worked great, and it was nice and clean. Patricia did a wonderful job cleaning our room each day. Augustin was very nice, although we didn't talk to him much because we didn't have any issues. I definitely recommend a stay at charming little Casita Maria! Oh, and don't forget to use the dehumidifier in the corner of the room. It made a huge difference (we didn't realize it was there until halfway through our trip). Thanks for a great place to stay, Chris and Polly!

Peaceful piece of paradise

My husband and I came here for 4 days after spending 10 days in busy Tulum and we're so glad we did! What a difference in pace. No crowds, no noise, private and quiet...just what we needed before returning home. The room had everything we needed. The management were super welcoming and bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. Ate at the restaurant "Buena Vida". Amazing food! Walked over to Yal Ku lagoon for a snorkel. Snorkel at Half Moon bay was not great and the water was choppy, but we enjoyed relaxing on the beach chairs provided. Reason why I am leaving a 4 stars is because of the mold in the room. We could smell it as soon as we walked in, and by the end of our stay, we felt sick. I know that this is a common issue with beachfront properties, but the fact that there are no windows for cross ventilation made the room damp, stuffy and moldy. Can't beat the location and the price, but if you have sensitivities to mold, this might not be the best place for you.
