Very disappointingly managed + cockroach
First the positive: excellent location in a great corner of Alfama near a handful of very good cafes and a mini mercado.
However, our experience was very poor.
First, the listing doesn’t mention, and we were only notified once our payment went through, that the keys to the property are NOT located at the property, but instead 10 minutes by car away. An unwalkable distance if you have any sort of bags. This is very poor practice to not tell people ahead of time that they’ll need to go to a secondary location to get keys, and wait until they can no longer cancel before notifying them.
Further, Due to our travelling with a infant under 2, we decided to reserve a room on day ahead of our arrival, since we were landing in Lisbon at 6:30 am. After picking up the key ten minutes away, we found the location but the key didn’t work. It took us between 1-2 hours to finally get someone to come and unlock the door. The customer service rep we spoke too first tried to tell us that it was not possible to get someone to come before 10am to open the door, and that we were to blame for not knowing how to use a key. When someone finally came to unlock the door, they realized that the key was in fact broken.
Finally, we found cockroaches in the bathroom. For the price we are paying for the appartement, there shouldn’t be cockroaches.
We sent an email with these facts to Altido (The company that manages the property) and they offered a 10% discount on our next reservation with them.
Would not recommend at all.
