Living history.

Great location, easy access to all the sights and restaurants. The steep stairs could be an issue for those with large cases. Very comfortable apartment with good cooking facilities. Property management was responsive and helpful whatever the issue or request.

Lovely Apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in April. Apartment is well designed and appointed, clean and very convenient to all that matters including the funicular. Great open style windows with lovely views and plenty of space. Location is great for walking to all points of interest, and there is a small supermarket downstairs. Remember there are stairs to negotiate with luggage if that is a consideration. We enjoyed our few days.

Perfetto!

If you are even remotely thinking about a visit to the Città Alta of Bergamo, I will give you two pieces of advice. One: Do it. Two: Stay here. This is one of the most perfect apartments I have ever rented (which have been many). The location is at the top of the funicolare of the Città Alta so it is an easy few steps. It has a very quiet garden courtyard with lovely tower views. It is completely modern inside and so tastefully done. Barbara was responsive to any request and Laura gave me a lovely welcome. I could not have asked for a better way to while away a few days ... except to have more of them. This is a fascinating jewel of a hill town with lots to see and do. If you enjoy walking, the hills around the city are worth your while. The Science Museum was a special treat. I will most certainly be back.

Didn’t stay

This is a new property listing and didn’t meet our expectations or prior positive experiences with VRBO! We thought we had booked in January of 23 with no confirmation or communication. We didn’t hear from the property manager until 3 days before we arrived in Burgamo…we had already booked another hotel in that city and had a few brief messages with manager about confirming that the property had air conditioning (which it didn’t) although the property listing stated it did! We informed the property manager that we would not be staying at the property and cannot find any record of our paying for this property!? Please get back to us about whether we were charged for this property and if so how to get a refund! Otherwise, we would causation others about using this manager…considering their unacceptable communication!

Wonderfully renovated apartment in the old town of Bergamo

We stayed in Bergamo for a whole week-end and we could not have wished for a better apartment. It was simply a dream: very nicely decorated, super clean and in the middle of the old town, so it only takes you two minutes to get to the central square "Piazza Vecchia" with its busy alleys. Even though the apartment lies in the middle of "Città alta" it is nicely quiet, because it is situated in a calm side road. In the apartment you could find everything you need, a dishwasher, oven, cooking plate, washing machine, hairdryer.... there even was fresh fruit, water, coffee and cookies for us :) Furthermore the hosts, Barbara and Gio were very kind and hospitable. They welcomed us very warmly and provided us with all the information we needed (even good places to eat ;)). We could call or write them at any time when we needed advice or help. The only small thing, that bothered us a little, was the heating, that we could not turn on, even though it got quite cold at night. However it was not the host's fault, the Italian law prescribes to not switch the heating on till October 15th due to air pollution reasons. Altogether we enjoyed our stay at their wonderful apartment very much and highly recommend it!! :) Best wishes to Barbara and Gio and thank you for the great stay!

Comfortable modern apartment

I was delighted when I found this property and even more delighted that it lived up to expectations and was just as in the photos. It was well equipped, warm and welcoming. Others have mentioned the stairs and in mitigation I should say that although there are about 46 from street to front door, the steps are all well formed, wide and well lit and all have a rail. Furthermore, after the initial flight of 26 steps, the remainder are in stages and we, aged over 70 ,,had no problems. We heartily recommend this property for comfort and location, which is perfect and so convenient. Check in and out were also easy and when our flight was postponed, we were able to stay on for a few hours which we really appreciated.

Conveniently-located apartment with all basic features in the old city. No elevator to 2nd level, close to bell towers so ringing starts at 7:30 AM and doesn't stop until 10:00 PM-ear plugs recommended. Reasonable accommodations for the price.

A New Day in Bergamo

What a wonderful place to enjoy the lovely Citta Alta! Barbara has done an amazing job turning an old space into a charming, modern apartment. Everything has been designed into a comfortable,usable flat....complete with a dishwasher and washing machine. There were wonderful restaurants and shops just steps away! Barbara and Lauren were extremely helpful with bags getting to and from the apartment. There are stairs up from the street, but quite manageable for two 80yr old people! We enjoyed our 4 days and look forward to another visit!

Way too hot: no fan, major construction right outside!

This was the first bad experience I ever had in renting an apartment on this site. The major historical renovation directly outside the apartment began at 7 am, and continued until 6 pm. It was extremely noisy, and guests should be told of this! I was not. The heat was unbearable- no breeze- and when windows open the construction noise was too loud to talk. When I requested a fan, the owner said "no". The thermostat in bedroom registered 30 degrees C at 10 at night (about 86 degrees F) making it a horribly hot night. The toilet seat was broken, making bathroom difficult to use. I communicated to owners that the lack of a fan or good ventilation, the ongoing major historical construction, and broken toilet seat made this apartment too uncomfortable to remain in. I had to find a quiet, calm, comfortable hotel room at my own expense. And owners refused to refund me, though I left after one awful night and had paid for three nights. I would not recommend this apartment at all- find somewhere else.

After one year of positive experiences with satisfied and very good customers I met Tamar … I do not wish anyone to have her as guests. Tamar, just arrived, complained about the lack of bedding for the third bed (the reservation was made for two people and she was never asked for the extra bed ....!) But she was promptly satisfied by taking the required sheets. She also complained about the overheating of Italian summer (it was specified that there was no air conditioning…) and the noise of a yard in the square in front of the building where there is apartment. The apartment is in the heart of the historic upper town, and sometime there are building’s renovation… (The yard started at 8am and the work of disassembling a scaffold lasted only one day…!) Tamar has "fled away" without the possibility of agreement, then she say that there was no refund by the property .... I am sorry that Tamar did not find well, but the reasons that she complained (the heat of summer or the noise of a temporary construction site nearby) do not depend directly on me... I have tried to meet her needs from the start and I have respond promptly to her requests, but Tamar did not want to feel right! It was really a bad experience!

Contemporary very well appointed apartment in the Cottage Alta of Bergamo

Near the funicular station with a number of restaurants nearby. Barbara was an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. Would stay here again when back in Bergamo

The apartment is great: well located, very nice and clean. Barbara is a fantastic host!

We loved the place! We usually rent apartments that have a lot of reviews, this was the first time to go with a new place and we had a great experience. The place is perfectly located and was just renovated. Barbara is a great host. She is very welcoming and helpful...to make it better, she is an architect and did a good job with the apartment. It is actually better than the pictures!

Wunderschöne, moderne Wohnung

Die Wohnung ist einfach bezaubernd und uneingeschränkt weiterzuempfehlen! Sie liegt mitten in der città alta im centro storico. Barbara ist eine sehr sympathische Dame, äußerst hilfsbereit und nett! Es hat alles bestens geklappt. Wir haben einen Garagenplatz dazu gemietet, allerdings nicht billig, 15,- € am Tag.

Great

Loved it. PERFECT position ,very helpful owner and modern stylish appartment in an old building.Could do with some kitchen knives to cut meat veg. and slice bread etc. but that's an observation not a critisisym.You wouldn't regret staying here, very quiet, but lots of bars and restaurants close by.
