We stayed for a week as a party of five (two grandparents, our daughter and grandchildren aged 2yrs and 3 months.) The house is spacious and well equipped; we particularly liked the large enclosed patio which was very safe for a toddler to play in. We enjoyed using the pools, particularly the toddler pool where our 2 year old was able to walk about unaided (the main pool is very deep at one end.) Ana was very welcoming and helpful, and we much appreciated the fruit and drinks that were there on our arrival. A car is essential, but the roads are excellent and quiet and the local town of Silves was easy to negotiate with plenty of good restaurants and well-stocked supermarkets. There was a large free car-park by the children's playground near the river. We had a particularly lovely meal and were made very welcome (even with young children!) at O Barradas and we would recommend Churrasqueira Valdemar, Cafe Ingles and Cafe Da Rosa. As our first trip to Portugal we were very impressed and hope to return!
Wonderfully rustic finished to a high standard in a really great location. Highly recommended.
Just back after 2 fantastic weeks at this great property. The photos and property details do not do justice to the high standard finish of this charming rustic property. We arrived Friday 14th July at 1:30 pm to a very nice and much appreciated welcome pack of a variety of soft drinks, juices, water, fruit and biscuits a great touch that captured the essence of this welcoming property. After a brief tour of the essential facilities we were left to enjoy our stay with no fuss and immediately felt at home and relaxed. A quick visit to Silves 10 mins away for some provisions and straight back to start the best holiday we have had in 20 years visiting the Algarve. We are a family of 5 and this property has more than enough space inside and out to accomodate the stated occupancy of 10 with ease. The terraced area above the pool is huge as is the court yard and BBQ area at the back where you can wine and dine on an industrial scale. The BBQ area is fantastic, full of character and equiped with a large barrell BBQ, bread/piza stove and masonary BBQ along with sink and work top that was a delight to use. By Sunday evening we felt like we had been away for weeks and completly at home and relaxed. The property has a magical atmosphere of family and happiness and it was no suprise that when we met the lovely owner and her mother, who was born in the orignal property, that this is very much a family owned and loved property. The pool was cleaned and maintained 4 times without any fuss or sense of interruption. The pool area and garden it is set in is lovely and a great size and the ajoining toddler pool is fantastic for those with babies or toddlers. The lighting at night (switch is on the wall just as you enter the pool area) was magical. The night sky above was splendid with the milky way clearly visible overhead. Spent many a night into the wee hours simply soaking it all in. A superb property and a holiday we will always cherrish. Try it, you will love it.
