We had a lovely time. It's a kid friendly home where we enjoyed swimming, fishing, playing basketball, watching the cows and feeding the chickens. It was truly an enjoyable vacation!!! And the scenery is stunning. We highly recommend this vacation spot!
This was the most beautiful view of any VRBO we've ever stayed at! Joann was always available and very accommodating. We also appreciated the home being very well stocked with towels, soaps, dishes, etc .. The grandkids loved the chicken, pool and walking the property.
Picturesque, peaceful, relaxing, I could go on and on. Great location with plenty of beds, a great pool, fishing pond, and some of the best views Iâve ever seen. Kitchen was well stocked, great internet, property owner was close by whenever we needed anything. Highly recommended!
Our boys LOVED catching fish, swimming in the first class pool and all the animals on the property. The view of the Ohio Really was spectacular. Accommodations were clean and more than adequate. The âkidsâ table was popular. Our host was gracious. Our only complaint was that all the couches and chairs were very uncomfortable-difficult to sit and enjoy conversation.
Pool is a 1min drive or 5min walk from rental house. Thought would be a hassle but wasnât. Plenty of parking. Kids liked the walk; I preferred the quick drive.Pool is cleanest weâve ever seen! Hosts should give lessons to pool owners! Kids enjoyed diving/jumping board. Everyone enjoyed lounging on floats. No shade over pool; enjoy the sun. Covered patio next to pool for shade. VRBO understood the assignment. Paper plates. Dishwasher-safe plates. Plastic cups and cozy coffee mugs. Non-stick pans. Spices but no oil; managed. Soap at every sink. Laundry basket full of freshly-cleaned beach and bath towels â directly next to front door. Views are amazing! A few flies but thatâs just July. Cell service very good for being so secluded! Loved the bare surfaces! Counters are uncluttered; guests have room to spread out! Family (4) in downstairs bedrooms 2 & 3 connected by a double sink bathroom. Other family (4) in upstairs bedroom 1 connected to large bathroom with laundry. Total gathering of 14 aged 11-75. Didnât use b-room 4. Canât remember b-room 5. No one slept in crowâs nest, but a fun hangout spot. Appreciated the curtains in bedrooms, for darkness! The hosts are very nice. Theyâll chat if youâre chatty type; but theyâll leave you to your own time if youâre on the shy side.A few additions â an air pump to inflate pool floats, oil in kitchen, updated couches, repair handle and water on main fridge. But those items are minor or for the future. We plan to book again!
This is the sixth year (every July) we have stayed at this property. We love this house, this host, this setting, everything! Once again our annual Camp G&G with our six grandchildren was wonderful! We had our first High School grad with us! This pool is certainly a highlight and the kids are huge fans of the night swims.Joanne is a wonderful host! The house smells so clean when you walk through the door. Joanne also provides all the beach towels! We cooked all mid-day and evening meals. (My husband and I are quite the team!) This working farm overlooking the scenic Ohio River is amazing, and never disappoints!!Highly recommend!!!!
We picked this property because of the views of the Ohio river, the pool, and the size of the home and we were very happy with our choice. We mostly hung out at the property. The views were spectacular, pool was large and even had a diving board, and there was plenty of room in the home. We took advantage of the fire pit and the grill. The kitchen had everything we needed for meals including paper and plastic if you dont want to mess with dishes. On the last day, one of our cars would not start. Joann, Phil, and Wade (owners) all came down to help. They were so generous with their time and even offered one of their cars to make it home. Such nice people! Flossie (house cleaner) also worked around us. My husband stayed an extra night to get car fixed and Joann refused to charge. This is the most hospitable vrbo ever and we have been in alot.My grandson loved the working farm and watched the tractors all day. The chickens were fun too. My husband even caught a big bass in the pond and of course got a picture. I tried to add pictures to this post but it did not work. Thanks for the great memories and letting us stay in your home.
This property far exceeded our expectations. It is truly a hidden gem that allowed for an amazing family getaway. The cabin had a fantastic layout, was well stocked and wonderfully kept. The scenic property was beyond what pictures could capture. The pond and pool were fantastic for the kids and adults alike. Jerry and Joann made you you feel like old friends rather than simply house guests.Absolutely recommend and can't wait to return.
Beautiful view, several open spaces for family time, large bedrooms, clean bathrooms, great water pressure and up to date appliances. Firepit with sidewalk entrance to home. Extra refrigerator/freezer in the attached garage.
Came for a weekend of relaxing. The fishing overall in Derby wasnât great but it was great to breathe the fresh air and take in all the amazing views offered by this home. Our second time at the property was just as nice as the first.
This was our third time vacationing here. We just love it. Once again, we had a wonderful stay. It was so relaxing and beautiful. The house is clean and welcoming. The pool is fun and enjoyable for everyone. The kids (and adults) really enjoyed the cows as well as the stunning views.
Joann and her husband are amazing hosts and we appreciate all their help and answers to our questions about farm life.
We highly recommend this beautiful property.
Weâve been here with our six grandchildren in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024! We love this place. When we arrived this time, the oldest grandson (now 17) stretched out his arms and said, âIt feels so good to be back!â
Our family had a great time! The house was very clean, and there was so much the owner provided to make our stay comfortable. Communication was easy, and Joann was great! And those views...from every room of the house!
We were born and raised right here in Perry county. I was raised on a dairy farm and my husband, Phil was raised on a hog farm. We purchased this farm in 1972 and have lived here ever since. We raised 4 children here. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Mason Carter came to Perry County in 1813 from Kentucky. Phil's Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Jules Etienne came here from Florenville, Belguim in 1850. Perry County has been our family home for generations. We have made our livings on the land as farmers and woodsmen. We have a deep love for this area and an equally deep dedication to the natural resources that sustain rural life and provide such a unique atmosphere.
Our son Robin built this home in 2002 with the intention of raising his family on his boyhood farm. Opportunity called them elsewhere and we bought his home. We have visitors here often to paint or just admire the view. It seemed like a no brainer to freshen the house up a little and use it as a guesthouse. Located in Perry county we have the same hilly landscape as Brown County but not the crowds.
Besides the unbelievable view if you have never experienced the utter joy of living high above the rest of the world on the very end of a ridge, with the only light at night from the sky and the only sounds coming from nature and you are in for a treat. If you are familiar with scenic Brown County you will fall in love with Perry County. The same beautiful landscape less the crowds plus the Ohio River.
