Classic Maine Cottage
The property was a perfect example of a rustic lovely cottage with an amazing view! I loved waking up to the low rumble of the lobster boats picking up and dropping off their pots in the early morning. From the hardware on the furniture to the light fixtures. It reminded me of my 100+ year old lake house I grew up in! I loved it. It had all the amenities you needed for the week. From measuring spoons and cups to a salad spinner to all the pots and pans you would ever need. It was an amazing time of relaxation, game playing and family dinners around the large dining room table. Thank you Sonya and family for opening up this beautiful gem.
Hi Scott, Thank you for your kind and enthusiastic review. We are so glad you enjoyed the beauty of
Maine and our cottage. We look forward to having you stay again!
At the end of a dirt road, up some stairs and then up a path sits this house, perched on a rock outcropping...hanging over the water of the Townsend Gut and looking out into Booth Bay. The land on the other side of Townsend Gut is a Nature Preserve...there is nothing looking back at you except trees and seabirds.
The Gut is a natural narrow waterway between Boothbay Harbor and Southport Island. If you are a boater and you want to go east or west and you don't want to go around Southport, you cut through the Gut .... and many do .... yachts, lobster boats, kayaks ... but, not too many ... just enough to let you know that you are in Maine.
Years ago we took a cruise that goes through the Townsend Gut and remembered seeing a house with a deck, with flags, with flowers, and with a red umbrella sitting over the Gut and thinking to myself that that house had a view....this is that house.
So sit on the deck, enjoy the view, make friends with the resident seagull and unwind...
Hi Maurice, Glad you enjoyed your time relaxing on the deck and making friends with the resident seagull! That bird is a regular.
The most beautiful hidden gem in Boothbay Harbor!
The experience of staying at the Artists' Haven was beyond what I ever could have imagined! The family's house sits perched on the most tranquil and beautiful spot in Boothbay Harbor, where my family enjoyed watching seals play, and Osprey and TWO Bald Eagles nest and catch fish! Every detail of the house made it feel like a cozy and familiar home, from its artwork, comfortable furniture and bedding, linens, kitchen items, etc. The views from every room were spectacular and calming, and the location of the house was ideal (close enough to activities, but secluded enough to really relax). If you are looking for true charm and tranquility, I can't imagine a better place. And if you have a love for beautiful homes with character, comfort and history, there is no equivalent to this spectacular home! We would come again in a heart-beat!
Dear Maya, Thank you for your enthusiastic review. We do hope you will visit again!
The view was priceless.
The cottage was quirky but the view was priceless. This is a great place for an artist to relax and do art.
Dear Karen, So glad you loved the priceless views!
Rustic cabin with beautiful views
We spent a week in this charming cabin. The views are incedible and panoramic. We really enjoyed sitting watching the lobster boats checking their traps, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The cabin is rustic and filled with the owners art. This was our first VRBO experience and it was pleasant. The house was clean and we had everything we needed in the bath and kitchen.
Boothbay Harbor is a quaint town with interesting shops and good restaurants. The Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens are nearby. We also enjoyed visiting other area towns.
Hi Nancy, We are happy you felt the views were incredible and panoramic. We agree. They are superb.
