Fantastic vacation house right in a lake. It had all the amenities to make our family time a great adventure. We made many memories. We would definitely stay again when vacationing in Alaska.
Cabin was just as described! The location was right on a quiet lake with plenty of rainbow trout fishing! Cabin was in immaculate condition and our hostess was quick to respond with any questions that we had.
We would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful time had, cozy and well appointed cabin, quiet and secluded. Played games, canoed, sat by the fire, and made memories. Very much enjoyed our stay
Such a beautiful setting on March Lake. Remote, quiet, peaceful. Starry skies at night, Early morning calm on the lake, listen to the owls and loons. A well-provisioned and comfortable home not too far (about 20 mins) from Kenai activities.
This property was perfect for our Alaska adventure. We stayed at this property to celebrate college graduations with some fishing and exploring. The property is beautiful and completely stocked with anything you should need. There are two small lakes that you can canoe and fish. The lake across the road from the house is easy to access and is stocked with trout. The boys caught over 20 rainbows in two days, all were released for others to enjoy catching. The town of Kenai is about 10-15 minutes away and has a Wal-Mart and other grocery stores along with restaurants. Everyone slept comfortably and the internet was fast enough for streaming and phones. I would recommend anyone to stay here. I have no negative comments, this place was perfect for us!
This is our first visit to Alaska. We came here to visit our son whom is stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage. We wanted a more rural experience. This house fit the bill perfectly. It is a good ways off the beaten path, 20 plus minutes to the nearest grocery store. Our son wanted home cooked meals, so we made that trip a couple of times. After a long day of float fishing the Russian river or drive down to Homer, we had an excellent time relaxing in the evenings setting out by the fire pit, watching our son's paddle around in the canoe or fishing. The house comes with pretty much anything you need. Including the world's hottest water. Beds were comfortable, the couches were nap induceing. Everything was in working order, well organized, and clean. The online pictures are very accurate and recent.
We loved your cozy lake house! It definitely seemed way bigger than the square footage described. 7 of us stayed there and we never felt crowded. The owners have everything set up very creatively so there was easy access for any possible need and were very responsive and accommodating. The boys loved the canoe for fishing and also caught many rainbow trout from shore. Douglas lake, across the road had the best action. With just one day's catch we had more than enough fish for a big meal, each averaging around 10 or 12 inches each (and some bigger at 14 inches). Like true Alaskans they even went swimming despite temps in the 60's. They had a blast and want to go back! We saw many different wildlife: bald eagle, golden eagle, loons, swans and ducks with their little ones. We saw signs of moose but nothing up close near the cabin. The fishing, the cabin, the water, the peace and quiet, lake air and wild flowers all add up to an ideal rural Alaskan experience for all of us! Thank you! ??
Beautiful pice of paradise. True Alaska experience. Very comfortable and felt like home away from home. Owners responded quickly to every email prior to trip and the listing is 100% accurate. Directions provided were exact, which was very nice as this property is off the beaten path and streets are clearly marked. Will definitely book again in the future
We had the list amazing time. My grandkids swam a couple of time - very shortly! I was not hot. We fished, canoed, played games un the garage, and loved it! The only downside was no hot water. Host soggested turning off the furnace and back on. It did not work. I was too focused on my grandkids and having fun so itâs partly my fault for not informing them right away. We absolutely loved our time there!
Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at this property. The listing is exactly as pictured and outlined. It was also well stocked with kitchen basics like flour, sugar, coffee, tea, etc. While bedrooms and bathroom were clean it, the house felt well loved and lived in. We appreciated the hospitality offered to use the fishing poles, waders, life jackets of all sizes and kitchen supplies, the house decor was so personalized and extensive that we did feel we were encroaching on the space at times and it was little discomforting. There was very little space or storage for our belongs on counters, shelves, drawers, dressers, etc. Internet was slow and inconsistent, and the supplied Netflix never connected. No worries, there is a extensive selection of DVDs and VHSs for all your entertainment needs. #bekindpleaserewind We did enjoy the Nikiski indoor pool one rainy day and several trips to Captain Cook state park, as well as the food from Ruby's/Stop & Go (order 1/2 of what you need. The BLT had 1lb of bacon!). They also deliver to the nearby Kassik's Brewery. A few other notes:
The firepit needs to be replaced and the wood was wet/not covered sufficiently, but that is likely from prior guests. If your goal is a quiet lakeside weekend, with state parks and the beach nearby, this is it! If you are looking to explore the peninsula, this is a little to remote to see a lot in a few days.
The place is very comfortable and well appointed. We had 2 problems at check-in: the cold water faucet in the bathroom lavatory did not work and the grill would not light. We reported the problem to the owner and the issue was resolved within a day. The place is a bit of a drive from Kenai, but worth it for the beautiful location. And we caught rainbow trout in the lake across the road using the canoes that came with the place.
The property is well equipped, quiet and comfortable. The area is pretty secluded and an awesome place for some R&R. If youâre flying with Alaska West Air - itâs close and easy to get to.
Our family really enjoyed staying here. 3 teenagers loved the canoes and had fun on the lake. Plenty of sleeping space and had everything we needed. A little far from town but everything is so spread out on the peninsula that Iâm sure it was normal. Saw caribou and moose on our drive there so that was pretty cool.
Property was great, including a great outdoor gathering area with fire pit, and outside eating table. The scenery in the back yard is amazing, we even had a moose wander through the back yard one morning. Awesome experience!
We enjoyed our stay at the March Lake House. The house was very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. We loved canoeing on the lake, and the kids enjoyed playing games in the garage. The kitchen and house in general were nicely stocked, including a can of bear spray. We highly recommend this house to get away, unwind, and enjoy nature.
My family and I have lived in Alaska since 1976. We have made the Kenai Peninsula our home and have loved every minute of it. We feel privileged to have been able to call Alaska our home for all these years. Our own family was raised getting to enjoy March and Douglas Lake and we would hope you and yours can start to do the same.
Our Lake House was built with our own family and grand babies in mind. We thought of all the necessities and want to make you feel like it is your own while traveling away from home. With lots of places to discover, I can promise this will be one of those places that you'll never want to leave. Your children or grandchildren will remember this place and ask to come back again and again. We sure hope you choose to stay at our Lake House.
Lake Front living away from it all with everything we could think of to make your vacation one to remember. And once you've soak up enough sunshine for the day, you can come in and have a night of family fun by having Shuffleboard and Foosball tournaments.
