Lovely place in Ventry. Spacious and well equipped. All beds were double/full. It was just 2 of us so it worked well. Cafe across the road is closed Monday and Tuesday so we only able to go once- it was delicious. Joan, owner, has lots of recommendations and is delightful. Pay electric and heat was an easy thing to navigate. Our trip in late July only used 9 including doing some laundry. Great find!
Joan, the host, is a lovely older lady who really needs to find a better housekeeping solution. The property and furnishings are very old to the point of being uncomfortable. It was quite musty, but got better. Or we got used to it. Potential guests should also be aware before you actually book that you have to pay for your electrical use other than hot water in the shower.
Joan was lovely and the accommodations met our expectations. It was great value for the rental fee. My family especially enjoyed the sunroom with the large table which was used every night for games. It was great to be able to explore the Dingle peninsular without dealing with the crowds and distraction of Dingle town. Paidi O Seâs restaurant down the road was perfect to share good food with the locals.
Good location, beautiful view.
there is a lot to do in Dingle and Ventry. Joan is very sweet. b
Best thing about the house is the fireplace. You can get timber or coal from the local shop and enjoy a rainy afternoon with a book and afire.
We had a wonderful time staying in Ventry. We went to the grocery store in Dingle and were able to have several meals at the cottage during our stay.
The quality of the cookware wasn't great, and the sheets and linens were a bit tired, but the beds were comfortable and we had no major complaints.
I had read previous reviews about needing coins for the power, but Joan had it prefilled with 10 Euro, so that bought us some time if we hadn't brought any coins with us. We did need to leave it with 10 Euro in the meter before checking out.
A few things that would have made it better - a larger cutting board, better knives and a nonstick pan, but most houses we stay in seem to be the same in terms of cookware quality, which is understandable. Also, there were no paper towels or tissues, so we had to buy some.
Overall this was a great place for our family to stay, with easy access to the Slea Head road for drives to local sites and to the beach.
The Garvey guest house in Ventry was perfect for our needs. Great location for exploring.
The Garveys are very good hosts. Our stay there was a highlight of our trip.

The host Joan is Amazing! She is so welcoming and helpful any time you need it. Goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay and know how to get around to all the sites. The house is very simple but comfortable and clean. Not priced like a newer fancy house either so i think its a great value for the price. Plenty of walking in the hills and down to the beach without having to drive anywhere, but also not too far from town if you want to hit a pub for a beer and a meal or go for some shopping. Highly recommended!
Lovely host, lovely views. Donât pass on the recommended walk to the waterâstunning cliff sides. And if itâs August, keep your eyes out for blackberries!
