Les points faibles : Emplacement et exactitude de lâannonce
This is a old house. As they stated.Owners need to put some money into this place. Ceiling was peeling in a few spots.A vent was half falling off on the kitchen ceiling by the living room.Tv was spotty. Would work some days and not others. I have never been at a place where there is no weatherstripping on the doors. Sunlight coming through the cracks. The half bath pictured is really stupid with the washer dryer combo literally on top of the toilet seat. No one could sit on that seat, unless you sat at a 90 degree angle. Mattresses were old spring type. The kitchen cabinet coverings were peeling off in multiple spots. The lazy susan door was not hinged properly.the ice maker makes too much ice and if you turn it off, it starts to drip into the fridge and puddle. The ac worked well but did struggle to keep it at 71 during the daytime. It would hit 74 then start to cool down later in the day.Water pressure was good. The noise from the trains and rigs driving down the street and the good ole boys pickup trucks was awful.Trains tooting their horns at 6 am and at midnight. All day long. You can feel the vibrations from the trains and trucks.Grass was about 12 inches high when dude showed up to cut it. Oven light does not work, smoke detectors dont work. When i walked in, i almost left because the items i mentioned were so apparent. But my brother and i stayed. It is not worth 1700 a month. I dont know how this got an exceptional rating. Peoples expectations are low.not mi
We needed a homebase for our stay i. Yhe area while visiting family. It is an older house, not a luxury resort and is pricred as such. House was stocked with necessities. It was clean. It was within walking of town. We will definitely look for this on our next trip.
Quick trip to attend a family wedding and it was like staying at my grandmothers house. Had everything we needed and very comfortable. Downtown is two blocks and has very nice places to eat. Thank you for the hospitality!
Myself, two of my sons and 3 of my grandsons stayed at Azalea Cottage for a hunting weekend at our hunting lease (only 12 minutes from our lease). This is a great place, comfortable, clean and perfect for our needs. There is ample parking in the yard which was great for our trailer with the side by side. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans and dishes. The house is an old house, which we knew and expected, but it is kept up very well. As stated in other reviews, a mainline train track is a couple hundred yards away and the trains come by the house frequently. Not sure how some may take it but it never bothered any of us during our stay. The host Tracey responds back quickly on both emails and phone calls. The house is part of her family history and she is very attentive to her guest's needs. Not only would I stay here again, I am 100% sure that we will be staying here again. Thank you again Tracey.
This is my family's go to place to stay in Folkston! It's a great location and Tracey is so easy to communicate with. If you are staying in the area, I absolutely recommend this place!!!
This is such a great place to stay. It is within walking distance of local restaurants and shops. Grocery store just down the road. About an hour to Florida beaches or go north to Georgia beaches. There are mature trees in the yard and they are beautiful.
Clean home. Older, but very quaint and comfortable. Well stocked with coffee pot, toaster, pots and pans, dishes. Quite noisy because the train tracks are approximately 200 yards away. Took some getting used to but after the first night, it wasnât an issue.
In Folkston for the weekend and Azalea Cottage was a perfect resting spot. It was close to the Folkston Funnel and walking distance of several restaurants. Clean, nice and had everything we needed!
Good location for exploring Okefenokee and Folkston
We enjoyed our stay at this property and highly recommend it. It was the perfect set up for us to use as a home base to explore the Okefenokee Swamp (east park access). The kids also enjoyed walking over to the Folkston Railfan park and exploring the town. It was super easy to walk to restaurants and train viewing platform. It is a lovely, sleepy little town.
The house was very clean and comfortable. It is old but you can tell it has been well maintained and loved over the years and has updates where needed. We loved hearing the trains go by at night but expect to get woken up by them or the noise from the road the house sits on occasionally if you are a light sleeper.
Overall our stay was nice. The host is totally upfront about all the train watching opportunities/closeness to the tracks ect... I guess we were naive about the level of noise that happens at all hours. On some multi engine long trains....the house will vibrate and windows rattle. You will hear long air horn blasts from trains. 2 to three go by from 10pm-5am. There are also lots of sirens for a small town and you are on a main road in town with semi trucks. It was not easy sitting/talking outside during weekdays. Again....the host was fine, but this was not the best stay for us but I can see where train lovers would be thrilled here.
We used the house as a base camp for our sightseeing. Spent time in various towns in the area, including Savannah. We enjoyed exploring southern Georgia. We even got used to all the train noise and police sirens which were plentiful in Folkston. The only thing about the house was it could have been cleaner. We left it in better shape than when we arrived.
The location of the house is ideal for rail fans, Okefenokee Swamp visitors, and anyone visiting family in the area. It's also close to the wedding venue, Daughters Barn.
