Property had everything we needed, plenty of space for 5 people and a dog. Fishing was excellent, caught well over 100 fish the entire week. Tip for unlocking deadbolt, pull the door towards you to align.
Very nice, clean & pet friendly lake house. Everything as posted in the listing. We had A communication with the Host. Enjoyed the use of the row boat, paddle boat & kayaks. We did a lot of fishing with the kayaks, catching over 60 bass & pike during our week stay. Our Dachshunds enjoyed the lake in the paddle boat. Enjoyed activities and restaurants in Gaylord and a day at Mackinac Island, only an 1 1/2 hours away. I totally recommend this property for your vacation.
Nice little lake, the house is perfect for a nice vacation. Communication was great and everything was clean and ready to go upon arrival. Would definitely stay here again.
Property was as listed. Check in/out process was easy. Interaction with owner was excellent! James was very prompt responding to messages and he was very gracious in offering early check in and out.
The cottage offers great views of the lake from inside as well as from the large deck.
We would definitely consider staying at the quiet cottage again!
check out.
We had a great time renting this cottage. The fishing was great and being able to use the owners kayaks and rowboat was a fun bonus. Everything you need was provided by the owner including wood for the bonfire pit.
The perfect size for us three old women. Loved that everything was on one floor. Fishing was fantastic. We binge watched Survivor. Only thing we wished for was a couple of recliners.
Overall very impressed for our first VRBO rental. Water did have a slight sulfur odor and gas grill was out of propane. Otherwise it was a nice place. Not too far from town, but far enough there is no road noise and wonderful views of the stars. Location makes for nice day trip to Mackinac Island or Traverse City. Would recommend.
This house was perfect! The scenary was beautiful and trees were changing already, so I got a lot of wonderful pics. The house had everything we needed. Kitchen is well stocked with any utensil you may need, plenty of dishes and I was very thankful there were a couple of really good non stick pans for cooking! We enjoyed the kayaks and the row boat and was glad they were there for our use. The water was higher than normal at this time, but we were provided a make-shift fire area, which was still enjoyable! We also got in 1 day of golf and 1 day of wineries. All in all, it was a very peaceful, relaxing vacation and the house great!
We had great time even though we had a lot of rain. The house and amenities were all matching the listing. Great fishing. Near to Gaylord and golf courses. Water filtration was not operating effectively giving a very bad odor to the water we used bottled water for drinking and cooking. The guide book in the house does not list the day of the week garbage is collected and my VBRO account could not retrieve my check in key email with day of the week to put garbage out at the street. I did incur additional charge for the garbage which is fair for the home owner. VBRO is responsible for their technology issues they could not resolve with my account.
Key pad didnât work so we couldnât get in til repairman came. Cottage was nice and clean. Fourth bedroom is a very small loft room with very steep steps and with no AC, it was too warm for anyone to sleep up there. We werenât expecting that and needed that sleep space. We were also charged extra for tub cleaning and window cleaning. Little ones (2 and4) played with colored soap in tub which caused âextra cleaningâ. The water is so rusty, the bath rub required extra scrubbing for that, not kid soap. We tried to clean windows from little fingerprints with no glass cleaner. We didnât know we needed to bring glass cleaner. Needed more sand for kids to play nicely. Not kid friendly.
The property clearly needs to have its septic system pumped and has experienced major flooding that wasnât disclosed until it was too late to cancel. The first thing you smell is musty sewage when you walk in and the septic smell persist out of every drain. I also was disappointed that every hand soap was empty and you have to bring your own dish soap, Iâve never stayed somewhere where thatâs what you had to do. All of the flooding wasnât really a big problem but I feel like the listing/pictures is highly misleading and the house smells like it may have had water in it.
We had a pleasant stay. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, the lake was pretty and quiet. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboat (we didn't use the row boat) along with the bench swing in the back yard. The fire pit was big and had 4 Adirondack chairs.Mild cons. There is no screen on the patio slider. No AC, but we only had hot weather the last day or two. If you aren't used to well water, it can be off-putting because of the smell, but the water pressure was good and plenty of hot water. Naturally, with a rural area, the cell service is weak, at least for Verizon, but there is decent wifi.I would recommend the house.
We loved this cottage. great layout to the house, great views from the dining room and living room. kitchen is stocked with pretty much everything you would need, very nice grill. Perfect for a couple to get away or a group.
the only thing that was a bummer is you are not allowed to use the fireplace and my girlfriend had specifically searched for waterfront and a fireplace. we had a fire outside instead.
James was great to deal with, took care of an issue with the cable outage right away and would have even come to be there if we were out exploring the area. He had suggestions about things to do on the lake that proved very worthwhile. The cottage has games to play as well, we enjoyed that very much.
would like to come back sometime.
Location was very nice, beautiful sunrises every morning. Disappointing that water was so high that we could not use the yard. Owner was upfront about it, and offered free cancellation. Our group decided to keep reservation, and make the best out of it.
This was our second year at this cottage and 10+ at Lake Manuka. The waters warm and except for Saturday afternoons the boat traffic is light -- especially this year because the boat launch was closed due to high lake levels. The peninsula and normal firepit were under water this year, but James had a temporary firepit set up on dryer land. The addition of ceiling fans in the bedrooms was nice as was the second bathroom reno. Overall, definitely recommended and will be back next year schedule permitting.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. Exactly as described. Lots of room to spread out for the 6 of us. The lake levels were very high do to all the rain. So the dock was under water when you stood on it. But we got lucky with nice weather so standing in 4 inches of water wasnât horrible. We had fun with the paddle boat, kayaks and row boat. The fishing was great! We used the grill there wasnât any gas, but we exchanged the tank at Walmart and James refunded the amount as soon as we sent message. Overall we had a great time. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful Cabin.
What a wonderful lake house. Great views and so peaceful. Perfect way to celebrate 25th anniversary. Will be going back this summer with the family. Thanks for sharing your home.
