We absolutely loved our stay. The view out the front window was stunning. Henry was so nice and gave us a few recs for our trip to Seward. Itâs a short drive to Seward and the perfect place to stay where you can sit out with a drink and enjoy the view.
Unclean house, host is not responsive but good location
We stayed here for 2 nights.
We checked-in in the evening and found out that the house was not clean. There were unwashed used glasses in the kitchen sink, a half eaten chocolate on the kitchen counter, and an unfinished icecream in the deep freezer. The floor in the house was dusty. The bed linens were not clean as well.
We tried to reach Henry (host) couple of times, but could not reach him. Even left him a text and a Voice mail. He did not respond back. On the next day, got in touch with the neighbor who connected us with Henry. He told us to keep a note in the house of list of things that are not clean, and he will have someone come and clean it up. Nobody showed up! I wish the app alowed me to post few photos of the house.
On a positive note, the house is situated at a nice, convenient location - Hardly 30 min from Seward
The nearby lake is calm and beautiful.
Quick suggestion to the host, please make sure the house is cleaned up before the guest arrives and please try to be courteous about any requests the guest would make.

This was a fabulous cabin for us on our first trip to Alaska. The cabin was easy to find and check-in. The quaint atmosphere inside and outside of the cabin was neat, authentic and practical. It allowed us to enjoy the area without stress. We played some of the games that were in the cabin, slept well, even with the daylight, thanks to the cozy bedrooms. The kitchen was outfitted with what we needed for cooking and leftovers; complete with special coffee! The owner was gracious and we even enjoyed an outside fire while my kiddos ran around in the neatly trimmed side yard. A very special place!
Henry was a wonderful host! I can't say enough good things about his cabin. It's in a perfect spot if you're wanting to head to Seward or hike Exit glacier. It's also priced better than most places if you have 6 people. The cabin was well stocked with everything you need. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Although Henry seems to be a nice guy, the house didn't fit our expectations. The place needs to be remodeled and must be clean upon guest arrival.
Regarding the location, yes it's not far from Seward but there's nothing (or almost nothing) in Moss Pass.
We enjoyed the cabin very much. Henry is a wonderful host, the neighbors are great and the town is super cute. I worked out perfect for us traveling in between Seward and Hope.
Henry was an amazing host...he was so helpful and a pleasure to talk with! We really enjoyed our stay and in fact extended a third night! Seward and Moose Pass are beautiful areas...a great place to stay if you don't mind traveling between the two places ....which we did't because the short drive is so beautiful. I would highly recommend staying at Moose Pass ....Henry always responded quickly and always made you feel at home.
Moose Pass isn't an obvious choice for most people to stay - since its midway between Seward and Anchorage. But that's the only reason why we stayed here. And Henry's place was exactly what our family of 5 needed. The house has a fully-operational kitchen, which was a big help since there aren't many restaurants in the area plus my dad has food allergies, so we could cook while we stayed here. The surrounding area is pretty nice too - for a walk or an evening stroll, if you have the time :) Thanks to Henry for sharing his wonderful home with us.
Strategic location for visits to Seward, very cozy and relaxing cabin, with everything you need
The cabin is truly nice. Situated on a hill with dense woods, it gives you a feeling of being in the wild a lot more than the photos suggest. The owners probably see a lot of bears and moose. The lawn was picture perfect (we stayed in July), with wood provided for the fire pit. The cabin is very cozy and functional, with wooden interior and all amenities. The owner (Henry) has given every thought to make you welcome. There was bottled water in the fridge, cooking necessities, even two bear sprays for safer hiking. We had a truly enjoyable time. Would stay there anytime, and would recommend it to all my friends.
Henry's home had anything and everything you could ask for. AAA batteries, BBQ grill, Bon Fire pit, fishing treble hooks and best of all BEAR SPRAY. Henry has thought of everything. The only thing was we thought we were staying on the lake. At the end it did not matter and Henry's establishment still deserves the 5 stars
It provided our basic needs and was roomy for 2 couples
Henry was easy to work and answered emails almost immediately. A couple of suggestions I have is to have screens on the windows to let in the fresh air and invest in some good mattresses.
Very well-equipped; served as a great base camp while exploring the Kenai Peninsula.
The property was well-equipped, including everything you might need in the kitchen, maps and trial information for local hiking locations, bear spray, and binoculars. Henry was very friendly, accommodating, and a pleasure to visit with when we saw him.
Henry has a very inviting, spacious yet very cozy cabin. He was very welcoming and helpful, and we're only sorry we missed joining the singing around the campfire.
I enjoyed staying in Moose Pass, good proximity to Seward and hiking trails in Kenai area. Very well equiped house that was clean and comfortable. Nice views too! Good info provided in cabin on area as well. Thanks Henry for kick starting the fire pit, we enjoyed talking with you as well.
Quintessentially Alaskan with a European twist and Lonely planet vibe
I am a picky traveler, having worked in Europe and traveled everywhere, lived in NYC and in Alaska off and on for 20 years, so when I say this place is a jewel it's the truth, Now it is not a 4 star lodge nor is it a touristy cabin replete with bear adornment but is authentically Alaskan, with a restrained taste. It is in the perfect locale if you want to hike or fish or kayak or sail or sightsee or just build a fire. It has a full kitchen so you can cook your gourmet dinners with wine in the midnight sun. If you have a well behaved pet the owner will consider having your four legged friend stay, There are neighbors, which is akin to a hotel room but these neighbors are not that close, and are polite, not too friendly , just right. If you are not an Alaskan you may enjoy knowing there are people there that if you need something they know what to do. It reminded me of the places I stayed in Europe; tasteful, simple, quiet and friendly in the most gorgeous settings, It is a place for people who do not want generic hotel rooms, and want a fireplace inside and fire pit with grill outside, and a yard, and a view of mountains and lakes with fish and freedom to come and go without staff in your room all the time. It was simply my kind of place, and I think it's perfect for a family or couple or adventure seekers or anyone who wants something different that is nice and clean.
2 couples stayed 2 nights, July 22 and 23. Very comfortable twin beds in living room. Kitchen was very nice and all was exceptionally clean. We would stay there again.
I've been in Alaska and the Seward area for over 26 years. I love people and would like to meet you. Come and stay at the Moose Pass Oasis and get a taste of the Alaskan hospitality.
This place is like no other on the Kenai Peninsula. Fishing, hiking, sight seeing in the most beautiful country one will ever experience. Its on the bucket list of destinations to not miss. It is Alaska as you've always imagined. Welcome to AK
