Idéalement situé dans le «rectangle d'or» de Carmel dans une rue calme à 2 1/2 pâtés de maisons de la plage, 4 1/2 pâtés de maisons de Ocean Avenue, la rue principale de Carmel, Fancy Free propose 2 chambres, chacune avec salle de bain complète, et un bureau flexible / den / troisième chambre sur un seul niveau. La chambre avant / baignoire et arrière chambre / salle de bain sont séparés par la Grande Chambre.

La chambre avant dispose d'un matelas à plateau-coussin Chattam & Wells, deux bureaux, foyer électrique, miroir de maquillage éclairé, bibliothèque, coffre antique, plafond voûté avec vue sur le toit d'un magnifique Cyprès de Monterey, HDTV Plasma 51 pouces, 5. Système A / V Bluetooth 1 canal, lecteur Blu-Ray, câble Comcast avec chaînes Digital Premier et système TiVo DVR. Une laveuse et une sécheuse sont commodément situés dans le couloir de ciel éclairé à la chambre avant.

La chambre à l'arrière dispose d'un lit queen-size Sealy matelas moelleux, 39. HDTV, 2. 1 canal Bluetooth capable système A / V, lecteur Blu-Ray, câble Comcast avec chaînes Premier numérique, TiVo système DVR, chaise de lecture et pouf, lampe de lecture, bureau, éclairé miroir de maquillage, bureau et terrasse privée accès.

Le bureau / den / troisième chambre offre un téléviseur HD / moniteur pour ordinateurs portables / ordinateurs portables ou câble Comcast avec chaînes Premier numérique, TiVo système DVR, WiFi Internet haut débit, les téléphones VoIP avec appel en Amérique du Nord illimitée, et un multi-fonction WiFi connecté AirPrint couleur imprimante / scanner / fax sur une grande table porte-jambe, et une chaise de direction en cuir, tout ce qui a besoin de la télé-banlieue occupé pour des vacances de travail en famille ou entre amis. Le salon / zone bibliothèque de la Grande Chambre est ancrée par sol au voûtés étagères de chêne au plafond et les armoires qui supportent le 60 pouces HDTV Plasma et écran de cinéma maison de 100 pouces, la mise au point du canal 5. 2 compatible Bluetooth home cinéma système A / V, offrant 2 sous-woofers, Blu-Ray, lecteur MD, lecteur de cassette, Pandora, Netflix en streaming, Amazon Prime vidéo, câble Comcast avec chaînes Premier numérique, Xfinity On-Demand et le système DVR TiVo. Apportez vos BD et DVD préférés, ou voir la nôtre. Vieux charme Carmel prend vie avec les flammes danser sur le journal de gaz commandé à distance dans la cheminée en pierre Carmel.

La cuisine de la Grande Chambre est centrée sur l'île qui abrite un gaz 4 feux Jenn-Air cuisinier-dessus avec four électrique à convection, armoires inox avec ustensiles de cuisine en acier revêtu 3 plis et un tiroir de couverts. Cinq tabourets de bar entourent l'île, ce qui permet aux clients de regarder la préparation des repas et de profiter des apéritifs et des repas occasionnels. Du sol au plafond, des armoires en chêne maison du SubZero réfrigérateur / congélateur, micro-ondes Panasonic four, Krups cafetière, Breville moulin à café, K-tasse unique servir cafetière, Tassimo unique servir cafetière, KitchenAid grille-pain, four grille-pain, les mélangeurs Cuisinart et des ustensiles de cuisson. Armoires de chêne abritent le 2 tiroirs Fisher Paykel-lave-vaisselle et évier double, surmonté par le calcaire contre Jérusalem. Au-dessus de l'évier, une fenêtre multi-volet contre-au-plafond voûté offre une vue sur le grand Monterey Cypress. Armoires en chêne du sol au plafond flanquent l'évier comptoir, logements couverts, verres, de la tige-ware et un service de vaisselle pour 12 (vaisselle supplémentaire, couverts et la tige-Ware est à portée de main).

Dans la salle à manger de la grande salle, une table Parsons accueillir six, avec vue sur la terrasse et le jardin à travers l'un des trois ensembles de doubles portes françaises sur le côté ouest de la Grande Chambre.

Par le milieu des portes françaises se trouve une grande terrasse ensoleillée, bordée de citronniers, de colliers, de myrtilles, de kiwis et de glycines. Un barbecue à gaz Weber naturelle étend la zone de la cuisine à la terrasse par une porte de cuisine séparée. Profitez de magnifiques couchers de soleil de Carmel et se détendre au son des vagues de l'océan ou votre musique préférée à partir des haut-parleurs extérieurs dans cet espace accueillant, réchauffé par le gaz de pétrole liquéfié feu-fosse et radiateurs électriques infrarouges sur la pergola, et regarder le Koi en jeu dans le étang ci-dessous.

Perfect spot for experiencing all the area has to offer

Location, location! On a lovely quiet street, within easy walking distance to the beach or into town for fine dining or poking around the shops and galleries. After a busy day of exploring, walking, or hiking in Carmel or further afield, it was great to come "home" to such pleasant accommodations with a fairy tale entry gate, beautiful gardens, a well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and bedding, and a state-of-the-art entertainment center. There is also a very nice and private outdoor space accessed by French doors from the main living area to enjoy on more leisurely afternoons or evenings. We look forward to coming back.

Fancy Free for a month

We truly had a magical time at Fancy Free. The house is a good size and it is in a great neighborhood. We were 2 blocks from the beach and an easy walk to the village. The kitchen has everything you might need. The deck is a delightful place to read a book and soak in the sun. Our hosts were very accommodating. When they saw my 96 year old husband struggling up and down the front stairs, Gary put in a post for him to grab on. The perfect solution. We recommend this home for holiday without reservation.

Excellent! Highly recommend and look forward to our next stay!

The beauty and comfort of the home and property are surpassed only by the warmth and hospitality of Gary & Denny. They greeted us when we arrived, showed us all of the amenities and answered our every question. When we asked about restaurants, not only did they offer a few suggestions but they left a restaurant guide at our door. They were respectful of our privacy and are two of the nicest people we have had the pleasure of meeting. The photos do not depict the true beauty of the home. High-end appliances, very comfortable beds and soft linens. Open floor plan, with cathedral ceilings and a gas fireplace in the family room made it the perfect place to spend our evenings. The location is second to none - only a couple of blocks from an awesome beach with the most amazing views and picture perfect sunsets. The downtown is less than a 10 minute walk, filled with fun shops and great restaurants. There are the most amazing homes of all styles throughout the neighborhood, which made our walks feel more like an architectural tour.The backyard is landscaped to provide beauty and privacy, with a well appointed large deck making it a perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or relaxing dinner.It was a working vacation so having an office was a must on our list. The home office had a large desk, comfortable chair, and with the door closed offered quiet privacy (with an extremely/fully reliable internet connection)We cannot wait to go back next year!

Healing surroundings

Tom, Loki, and I spent the month of April at Fancy Free. Our hosts Denys and Gary have created a most beautiful and healing oasis in Carmel. The gardens, patios, and functionality of the home are extraordinary, as is the fact that we were 2 blocks from the beach and 4 from the center of Carmel. We were extremely comfortable and able to enjoy a relaxing routine of life, enhanced by short visits from our adult children. Denys and Gary are always accessible, helpful and interesting. Picture perfect Carmel cottage

Charming Carmel stone home with lovely gardens, beautifully furnished and welcoming in every way. Upon arrival, our gracious hosts greeted us with a tray of hors d’oeurves and champagne, followed by a brief tour, including every imaginable smart home device (TVs, audio, lighting, gas fireplace and more). Such a peaceful location, just a few blocks to the beach or Ocean Avenue restaurants and shops. Thank you Denis & Gary, for your thoughtfulness and flexibility! WONDERFUL!

We thoroughly enjoyed are stay in this lovely up to date home. Everything about the home was perfect - location, amenities, quiet neighbors, sounds of the ocean, etc. The owners are an extra treat - very accommodating and quick to respond to any request. Happy Memories

We are repeat renters. I feel as though we have not only had the best vacation possible but have truly developed a long lasting friendship. The owners and house both make you feel as though you are HOME away from home. Very efficient, clean and lovely home in just the perfect area . Close to town and a walk to the beach. The sweetest house in the perfect location!

This quaint, comfortable, convenient, well-cared for "cottage" was ideal for our relaxing yet active winter getaway. Everything was perfect from the well-equipped kitchen to the super-soft linens to the roomy and pleasant deck to the modern entertainment options. Even our dog was provided with luxuries including 2 beds and water and food dishes. The location encouraged daily long walks on the beach, leisurely strolls into town for window shopping or dinner, or a hike up the hill to explore the Mission Trail Park. We also enjoyed easy day trips further afield in Monterrey, Pacific Grove, Big Sur and Carmel Valley. We are definitely coming back.

Simply Wonderful!

Having just spent a month at Fancy Free for the first time, we’re reluctant to leave an overly enthusiastic review for fear this special place will never be available again. Why describe the amazing time we spent here, how kind and thoughtful the owners who live on site, how pleasing the decor and amenities, how the kitchen is so well stocked we could host a wedding party, how one of the most beautiful beach walks anywhere in the country is just minutes from the front door, how charming the surrounding neighborhood, and how the daily explorations of Carmel's gorgeous vistas and environs were capped by knowing we'd be coming home to our cozy Fancy Free cottage, all of it bringing our 30 days to a close much too fast . . .well, we'd be fools to recommend this place, at least before we’ve secured our next reservation!!

Home away from home

We just visited FancyFree for the third year. As you walk through the front gates you get a sense of a warm welcoming. Lovely surroundings, well equipped with all the essentials and then more. Charming and a great location. Operated and owned by very kind and outgoing people. Looking forward to a return visit next year.

November 2016 Trip

My husband and I were very fortunate to stay at Fancy Free for the month of November 2016. We have visited the Carmel area annually since 2000, and have stayed in several VRBO homes. For many reasons, Fancy Free was our favorite in the town of Carmel. The home itself is lovely, as the pictures show, and Gary and Denny are the consummate hosts. We loved quiet times reading by the fire with the patio doors open, allowing us to experience the beautiful gardens even on cool days. We took the short walk to the beach daily, especially enjoying the sunsets and early morning quiet times. We also walked to town daily for lunch or an early dinner. The home is wonderful for entertaining, as we had a long visit from our son, daughter-in-law and 4 year old grandson. They loved staying in the very comfortable back room with patio access. The beach toys, board games and children's books were very much appreciated. We also had a weekend visit from my sister...she traveled from San Francisco with a friend. The pull down bed in the study came in handy! She and her friend especially enjoyed the outdoor areas and the wonderful kitchen. Our favorite experiences in the area: Point Lobos!!! Coast drive with breakfast at Deetjen's - not to be missed! Pfeiffer Beach - can be difficult to find, but well worth the effort - purple sand and arches McWay Falls - Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park Ventana - outdoor dining Carmel Valley - Georis Tasting Room (our favorite wines in the area), Corkscrew Cafe, Roux Beach trail walks at Carmel Beach, Pacific Grove and Monterey Carmel Restaurants: Luca, La Bicyclette, Casanova - lunch in the courtyard, Mission Ranch at sunset, Lafayette Kitchen & Cafe on Dolores for breakfast The Inn @ Spanish Bay - bagpiper at sunset, outdoor firepits - VERY special The Lodge @ Pebble Beach - The Bench, firepits at sunset 17 Mile Drive - coast road The Cheese Shop in Carmel Plaza - sample cheese and wine, fun experience! If you've never been to this area, do yourself a favor and go! Beauty cannot be matched, and ease of access to all of Monterey/Carmel area and Big Sur coast make it our favorite vacation spot in the US.

A Beautiful Home in a Lovely Neighborhood

We absolutely loved the month we spent at Fancy Free. Denny and Gary were the perfect hosts and were always available should we have a question about anything. The house is beautiful and equipped with all the amenities you could possibly need. The gardens front and rear are lush and manicured. We spent many wonderful hours on the back patio around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and enjoying Happy Hour with friends. There is a great bar just 3 minutes walk down Camino Real inside the La Playa Hotel. If you go there ask for Jevana, she is the best bartender in Carmel we believe. The Village on Ocean is a short walk from Fancy Free and you walk by many beautiful homes along the way. The coast is a 2 minute walk that puts you on a beautiful, white sand beach with views of Pebble Beach Golf Course. If you enjoy yoga, Yoga Center of Carmel is also within walking distance. There you can sign up for one class or weekly or even unlimited classes for very reasonable rates and all levels of yoga are offered. The owner Kathleen will make sure you enjoy the experience. We will certainly be returning to this wonderful town and beautiful home. Thank you Denny and Gary for memories that will last a lifetime.

Living the Life in Carmel By the Sea

This was our second year staying at this property. We just love the house, the location and Gary and Denny. It is the perfect set up with the perfect hosts. We have already reserved our spot for next year. The house has an amazing audio visual system and all your tech needs will be met. We like to cook at home and the kitchen has everything you will need to prepare any of your favorites, including a great gas grill right by the door leading from the kitchen to the back yard. Gary and Denny are super responsive to any needs or questions you may have. Lastly, the location is right where it need to be. A quiet street 3 blocks from the 10th Ave beach access and 5 blocks to town with all the restaurants and shops. The perfect Carmel house!

Heavenly Hibernation

Perfect stay!

With our well-exercised and contented dog we enjoyed a perfect month at Fancy Free. We could not have asked for,nor received, a more perfect situation. Our stay exceeded our highest expectations. Fancy Free and definitely Footloose!

Wow! If I could give it a few more stars, I would. We have been lucky enough to rent several homes in Carmel over the years, and this is the best, by far! Denny and Gary have seen to every need. The location is superb as others have noted. Our rather large Alaskan Malamute loved the beach and giving his sandy paws a good scrub was easy since Gary has provided an outdoor tap just for that purpose. Dog bowls and a dog bed were waiting for our canine companion, as well. We strolled up to town for coffee almost every morning, after a romp on the beach. Returning to Fancy Free with all it's comforts after a day of sightseeing in Big Sur, Monterey, 17 Mile Drive, etc. was pure joy. The kitchen is very well appointed, and the center island a pure dream for eating and/or gathering. We enjoyed the beautiful deck, as did our dog. Denny and Gary are perfect hosts. I can't wait to go back!

Fancy Free says it all!

Stayed at this most comfortable home for February into March. Every amenity provided, very well stocked kitchen and very helpful information provided by Denny and Gary. Close to the beautiful beach and Scenic Drive and a short walk into the village. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Fancy Free

We stayed at Fancy Free for the month of October and throughly enjoyed our stay. The great room has a large screen TV and beautiful wall of books and large fireplace that we used in the morning. It was very cosy and warm. The kitchen was well supplied with all needs and has the latest appliances. The location is ideal. Three blocks to beach which we did almost every day with our two poodles and six block to town for dinner. The owners of the house were very gracious and helpful but gave us complete privacy. We would certainly recommended Fancy Free. Al & Joyce Odegard

Amazing property, excellent location and the most welcoming owners. A wonderful stay!

A perfect Carmel-By-The-Sea property. A few blocks to Ocean Ave and 2 blocks from the beach, makes for an ideal Carmel experience. Prior to arriving, I spoke with Gary and Denny and found them so personable and helpful. They made sure we had the necessary details and even offered to pick us up at the airport. They completely exceeded our expectations accommodating our son, making sure he had beach toys readily on hand and a list of local adventures for us to explore with him. They even had a few blocks, books and toys for our son to play with during our stay. They are a wealth of knowledge regarding Carmel and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The home is well equipped, and every detail well thought through. Eating out in Carmel every night can get expensive and Fancy Free's kitchen is incredible. High end gas range and all cooking utensils, dishes, appliances ever needed. You'll feel like you are at home. All the conveniences right there. Outdoor fire pit, gas grill, home theater system and many a great read can be found if you just want to stay in with a book or two. We share a love for coffee, and you will not be short of different coffee machines for your liking! We found ourselves going to the beach daily and within our first days there, they installed an outdoor shower so we could rinse off easily. There is a public rinsing shower on the beach stairs at 11th, but they went the extra mile and made it so convenient for us. Our babysitter had problems with our sons stroller and Gary was always ready to help and lend a hand with anything, especially the TV system. The house has insightful serene art and plenty of natural light. Beautiful gardens surround you and the sounds of the waves can be heard from the back deck. I can't say enough about this property or the owners, both completely enjoyable. Highly recommend.

A perfect peaceful getaway

My husband and I and our small dog had the pleasure of staying for a month in this charming home in Carmel by the Sea. We were welcomed by the owners, Denny and Gary, who did everything to make our stay comfortable. We were their first VRBO renters and they always asked us to let them know of anything they could do to improve their home and what they had to offer. We could not add much to this well stocked house, but the few things we mentioned were given their immediate attention. The location could not be better, a short walk to the beach and town which we did every day. I enjoyed the "zen" garden where we could sit comfortably every day with heaters and a firepit and hear the ocean and the koi jumping in the pond below. We picked watercress from their garden and meyer lemons off their trees. It was truly a pleasure and I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy the Carmel experience. We have rented many homes in the past and we have never had such a pleasant experience with owners/managers as we did with Denny and Gary.

Fancy Free is perfectly located on a large lot in an incredibly scenic natural setting on a quiet street, a short walk to beach and village shops. We immediately saw the potential of Fancy Free and our vision guided the renovation and expansion of the cozy 1938 cottage into a flexible, open layout, creating two legal residences with privacy and separate access, while preserving the original Carmel cottage charm. The intention was to rent the larger residence and keep the smaller connected residence for the owners' use, and it has worked wonderfully for 30+ years of long-term rentals.
