La cabine est située dans un endroit calme et reposant parmi les pins ponderosa, les épinettes et les sapins. Profitez de l'atmosphère sereine et relaxante et observez la faune locale se promener parmi les arbres ou attraper un mulet à la dérive. Asseyez-vous le long de la rivière tout en profitant d'un feu du soir dans l'anneau de feu. Il y a de la pêche dans la rivière à tout moment. River house

This cabin was everything we hoped it would be. The river is a few yards from the house, and we got up every morning and sat by the river and had our coffee. The few suggestions I have is to take some extra towels, for bathing, kitchen towels and hand towels. Also, there is no dining table. Instead, there are TV trays to eat on. There is also a picnic table outside on the wrap around porch. The instructions on the VRBO website say to not strip the beds when you leave, but the instructions on the fridge, sat to strip the sheets off the beds, (or vice versa} so that was confusing. I loved the location and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Great scenery with big creek in back yard

Cozy house, heater operated so well you could get too hot. About 45 min away from Durango and lots of hiking locations in surrounding area. Completely enjoyed our stay

Peaceful Riverside

This was a restful, quiet cabin with kitchen fully stocked with everything necessary to cook. It is in a beautiful setting of trees with a small river running along side the property

Perfect cabin getaway

We wanted a quiet cabin getaway to escape the Arizona heat and Steve’s cabin was just that. The cabin is right on a beautiful flowing river at the end of a gravel road. Our dog loved the river and sitting on the covered deck watching the chipmunks. The cabin was clean and cozy and just a short drive away from the lake. Can’t wait to go back!

Our host responded in a timely manner to all messages, very great location and check in/out procedures were straight forward. Very minor issue with oven not working but other than that this place is great and I would definitely recommend if you want a place that is secluded and out in nature.

Wonderful Setting

Loved the location of this place. Close to the creek (it was running too fast to fish). Very peaceful and relaxing setting. One drawback wa that there was no interior dining table. We made do, but would have love to sit around the table to eat and play games. Hosts were very quick to respond to all questions we had. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

FANTASTIC mountain getaway

This was a GREAT little cabin for us while we went to the Durango area. Quiet, clean and serene. Has all the amenities you would want. Communication with the host was great! Both the kids had a great time and loved every minute of it. We’re already looking at coming Back in the summer. You will not be disappointed with this gem.

Family fun for Spring Break

Kitchen has all the appliances you could need. The house is about 30-40 minutes from Durango, in a woodsy neighborhood. We did some hiking near Vallecito Lake, went to Mesa Verde and hiked in Canyon of the Ancients. We spent some time walking in Durango and visiting the shops. We enjoyed the wood-burning stove and satellite TV in the evenings.

Amazing location

The pictures do not give the property justice. Your backyard leads you to the river. Sitting on the deck with coffee or your meal listening to the river is so relaxing. I enjoy cooking and this kitchen had everything you would need. Quiet place to unwind. Be sure to bring bug spray - the only complaint was the mosquitos but it wasn’t just there might be time of the year

Quiet, Peaceful Retreat

Our plan for R&R after a rough couple of years came to fruition. River offered peace. A few wild animals that walked nearby reminded us to appreciate Mother Nature. Area was quiet. We felt sheltered from the hustle bustle under the pine trees and infrequent human connections, yet did not feel isolated from the world. My brother wants to live there one day. : )

Overall a great place to stay. Pros - The cabin is in a great location on the Vallecito Creek. While a bit isolated at roughly 45 minutes to Durango, it is ideal if you are looking for a quiet place with space to roam, and lower temperatures. The sound of the creek, the ability for the kids to float down the creek a few hundred yards, and the hummingbirds, deer, foxes and other wildlife were what we came to experience. There is not an indoor dining table, but the long deck facing the creek provides a great space to drink coffee, eat, and play board games. Just keep in mind the mosquitos may be out in the evenings (We did not have issues with mosquitoes during the day. Cons - The cabin itself is quite dated, but we’re not a resort style family as we value experiences over amenities. For a pet friendly place, the blue shag carpet may not be ideal and appears to trap excessive dander as all of us had allergy issues inside the cabin, whereas this is not common for us. Stairs to 2nd floor bedrooms are quite steep and hallway railings above the living room are short and open so keep this in mind if you have small children (Was not an issue for our older children). While a clothes washer/dryer is listed as an amenity, they are located at a nearby RV park and coin operated. We could only find 4 towels for 5 people and did not reach out to the owner to find if towels were available, but for a rental lacking a washer/dryer it would be ideal to have extra towels on hand.

Will return, great location

We really enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately, due to a family emergency we had to leave early. The cabin is as described and the property really is beautiful. The cabin was very clean, however the kitchen could have used some work. The kitchen utensils were pretty dirty, so we felt like we had to wash everything before we used them. There were also only a few paper towels on the roll when we arrived and no clean sponge to use. Other than those minor issues, we really enjoyed the cabin and would love to come back. Gail was very understanding when we had to leave early and even mailed us back some clothes we left because we were in such a hurry. We appreciated her kindness during a stressful time.

Great location, but...

Interior needs a good, thorough cleaning. Upon entering house, the musty smell was very strong. There were dead flies along window seals. The stove top and grates were greasy. The bbq grill needs to be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. The location, seating by fire pit that overlooked river, wrap around deck, and great weather made up for housekeeping issues. I'd stay here again, but I don't think my wife would be too happy. Didn't feel need to contact property manager for any issues. Email was sent with all information needed to check in.

I can't say enough about how wonder our stay was at the River Side Mountain Refuge. My children enjoyed 2 full weeks of no television and simple outdoor living. We made wonderful memories enjoying the creek, lake and hikes in the mountains. I loved the cool breeze in the morning, afternoon showers, and of course just sitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, look no further, this is your place. My family and I will definitely be back.

This was a great location to get away for a week! We loved the feeling of seclusion, the creek so close, and the fire pit right by the water. Morning coffee was so peaceful on the deck with the sound of the rushing creek. We even saw deer walk through the property during our stay.The house itself could use a couple of updates (flooring, kitchen), but it didn't detract from us having a comfortable stay.

In my youth I enjoyed spending many summers visiting family who owned cabins in the area. My most fond memories from my childhood are of our family visits to Vallecito lake; fishing on the river and lake, boating, hiking for hours, exploring, our day trips to Mesa Verde and other mountain towns and making friends among the local residents. It has been my dream for many years to eventually have my own cabin that I can share with family and friends. I have been blessed and now have a cabin of my own that I can enjoy and share. I hope that I can help make some wonderful memories for you to remember.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The area is perfectly located as a starting point for any number of adventures and is only a short distance to number of destinations such as Mesa Verde, Durango and Silverton. If you prefer peace and quite and just want to relax the cabin is privately located in a quite neighborhood off the main road and right along a beautiful and relaxing river. Don't worry though you are still only a short distance to the lake, horse outfitters, trail heads, a number of restaurants and other activities so there is always something to do.
